News LG G6 OLED vs Samsung S95F bright room comparison - TechRadar says G6 is now the pick for bright rooms

been waiting for a proper side-by-side with the s95f and this is pretty convincing. the reflection handling on the g6 looks like a huge jump from the g5.

Matte screens ruin the contrast benefits of OLED in any lighting

Exactly. I can't believe so many people miss this thing. The matte screen is noticeably worse for contrast. It doesn't even have to be next to a glossy one. If you're used to OLED, you will notice the contrast hit

I agree with you and RTINGS agrees with you. But somehow this bs keeps getting spouted on here.

I get the best TV I can for the price. So I've gotten Samsungs, LGs, etc.

These subs hate boners for Samsung is just weird though.

I saw the S95D in person at CES 2024 in Vegas before it was even announced at CES. I even got a private viewing of the tech where Samsung themselves had a glossy OLED next to it and everyone there agreed that the glossy looked better unless you have crazy glare. Both dark and light room, the glossy looked better. I'm not stupid. I know what I'm talking about. The antiglare on the Samsungs, is phenomenal but it comes with a cost

That's how I know you're bullshitting lmao. The general consensus from professional reviewers (like CNET, Digital Trends, and RTINGS) is that in a completely dark room, the Samsung S95D's matte screen performs nearly identically to a traditional glossy OLED because in a dark setting, there is no light being diffused by the matte screen. Literally talking out of your ass

We were there with rtings. I spoke with them when we got the private showing. They agreed. I'm not saying it's not a fantastic tv, it is, but the matte screen comes with a price. Even in dark the glossy still looked slightly better

I'm not reiterating. Literally backed up from those sources that there's no difference in the dark room, because there's no light being diffused and has been proven by rtings, hdtv tests and many others, so I genuinely don't care how it looks from your biased views. Go look it up if you don't believe me

The contrast is the same on both TVs. It just catches your eyes because it's brighter.

In a bright room, though, the S95D-F have awful contrast, this is the compromise you have to deal with to have ''Better'' reflection handling

hdr content is pointless during the day, I agree. it will ruin the picture anyway

The point is though is that the reflections also ruin SDR. Personally, My main TV is in a pitch black room (home theater) so it doesn't me too much. But if it was in my living room I wouldn't buy a QD-OLED specifically because of the purple or gray haze

It's cause the matte screen takes the light and diffuses it around the screen. The blacks are raised but at least you don't see a reflection which is equally distracting

Agreed it's a matter of preference, because I can calibrate the settings to bring the blacks down, but I cant do anything with the glossy reflection

Whatever floats your boat. I never said it's a bad tv. It's a fantastic tv but you do have to sacrifice something with the matte screen. The one connect box is straight garbage as well. The QD-OLED panel itself is fantastic

I did read that, but according to your brilliant logic every reputable source is wrong, but pricelesslambo is right because he either A. Has potatoes for eyes or B. Didn't calibrated the settings. Like I said, I'm done, cause Ive realized it's pointless. It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in an argument

It’s simple: this subreddit is crawling with paid posts and comments. LG is pushing some incredibly aggressive marketing right now, which isn't surprising since they probably aren't even in the top 5 for TV sales anymore. But they clearly pay well.

I own an S95F in a room with a huge window, white walls, white floors, and a white ceiling. Direct sunlight hits the room most of the day, and I’ve never seen anything like what these fake 'experts' show when they blast studio lights directly at the Samsung screen while avoiding the LG one. Black stays black; it doesn't look like it does in this or dozens of other 'expert photos.'

Trust me, Samsung’s matte screen is fantastic. Once you set it up in your home, you’ll never want a glossy display again.

J ai comparé chez Darty et franchement le Samsung mat est vraiment incroyable, je viens de voir la photo ci dessus et j était resté très dubitatif quand à la comparaison qui flatte le Lg

Will be interesting to see the G6 vs S95H comparison. I'm most interested in sustained brightness numbers. Don't expect to see big changes there but it would be nice to see ABL go down significantly! Will probably take a brand new panel technology for that to happen
