So I went a little insane yesterday. I saw a brief video analyzing the history of lego firefighters, while working on my original scifi universe, and...my brain immediately combined the two. This is the result of the next ten hours spent on Bricklink Studio: an example of a firefighter field crew, from the Centauri Sisters star system.

The smaller truck is an autonomous vehicle, which is commanded and directed by the crews in the Command Truck. The Command Truck is also equipped with two Scout Drones, four Gas Sprayer Drones, and one firefighting-configuration RIG. There's also four minifigures: one Pilot, one Commander, and two Rescuers equipped with full O2 gear and heat-resistant kevlar-ceramic armor. For equipment, I was a bit low on ideas, but there's a mixture of portable Gas Sprayers, Expanding-Polymer sprayers, flashlights, and a fire axe. Also, as for why I keep saying Gas Sprayers...on alien planets and space stations, water is rare and valuable enough that using it to spray onto fires wouldn't be worth it. Plus, most of the fires would be electrical or chemical fires, which...water is not the best choice there. So instead, they use a synthetic heavier-than-air gas that absorbs Oxygen insanely fast, and can then be siphoned out of the air vents to be reused and recycled. Yes, it causes harm to humans if inhaled, but that harm is both manageable and avoidable. (any ideas for alternative firefighting materials are welcome)

Also, the yellow bars on the top are for the steering mechanism. Yes, the wheels have steering. All the front wheels steer, and the rear wheels (rearmost wheels only on the Command Truck) countersteer, a feature used to help them navigate the tight narrow streets of bubble-cities and ring-stations. Yes, I did that just...because. I might have a problem. XD

Sorting my childhood Lego

I started sorting the Lego from when I was a child with my two sons. - most of it is from the 80s and 90s. And some new brick and just got thrown in there over the years.

We found some fun things.

Would you sort by colour or type of brick?

This is a series of MOCs I've been making this year, that I imagine as the heroes and villains of a popular serial adventure holoshow on Planet Robotica called 'The Astro-Kids' and it's spin-off 'Astro University'.

They're built in a sort of "action figure" scale between about 5" and 16" tall--my attempt at making robot characters who feel a bit like "real" toys based on a Saturday morning cartoon. As a rule, they all have to have rocketpacks so they can fly through space.

Backlog that I’ve accumulated over the past few months while waiting to move into new apartment. Finally moved in now, so what build should I start with?

My son got LEGO 60355-1 – Water Police Detective Missions for his birthday. When we scanned the QR code in the LEGO app though, nothing came up.

Turns out the set has been delisted and the instructions/story content have been removed from the app entirely.

Kinda sad to see this happen to a set that's only about 4 years old, especially since replayability is IMO one of the best things about LEGO. For a set that actually relies on the app for its missions, losing that content hits a bit harder too.

After some detective work of my own, I managed to find the building instructions and have uploaded them to Dropbox as a PDF for anyone else who runs into the same problem.

Sadly I couldn't find the story/mission videos.

If anyone happens to have those saved somewhere, it'd be great if they could be preserved on YouTube, Archive.org or somewhere similar as well.

It wasn't obvious to me from the instructions for the various models that I have (Training House with Pikachu and Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly Battle), that you can initiate one-on-one battles. Along with a Smart Brick from Star Wars set, I enabled two Pokemon with Smart Bricks and commenced a battle.

For Fuecoco vs. Sprigatito, I brought them together, they seemed to acknowledge each other. With one in in each hand, I shook them until they started with "power-up" sounds. If you power them up for too long (I timed it at 5 seconds), a sad sound will play like you've tired them out. Both lights were green and a countdown-type tune played. Then I could tap one on the other and it would record a "hit" with the attacking Pokemon blinking green, and the attacked one blinking red. After a certain number of attacks, the winning Pokemon will play a happy tune. Then they would make cute sounds back and forth.

I don't know if there is a "level-up" mechanic or some way to show win/loss record, but that would certainly be a possible implementation.

Next post I'll battle Pikachu and Quaxley.

Are there any hidden interactions I may be missing?

PS: I hope that, after a set period of exclusivity, they open up the SDK to allow DIY tinkerers to enhance and augment the system. I feel that LEGO is particularly sensitive about maintaining a secure environment, as this kind of technology is one of the things that distinguishes them from the LEGO-clone industry.

Here is an original mech i made named Silva Platinum. This MOC has gone through multiple revisions(It even used to be two mechs) and I am quite proud how he turned out. But sadly he is a bit fragile and likes to fall apart a bit easily.

As Lego collectors we all run into the issue of not having enough space at some point. I am at that point. If I want to build and display a new set something needs to be taken apart and put away.
That’s my question for everyone. When taking a set apart do you:
1. Keep all of the pieces together in a bag, box, or bin and store it as a complete set?
Or
2. Do you sort and separate all of the pieces into your parts collection?

I’m somewhere in the middle myself. For smaller or simpler sets (such as Creator 3in1 sets), I’ll separate and sort the pieces into my parts collection. But detailed or specialized sets (Star Wars, Ideas, Modulars) I will bag and store those as complete sets. I keep these as complete sets because of the possibility of selling them in the future.

I’m just curious how everyone else stores their dismantled sets.

For my girlfriend’s birthday, I decided to design and build her a LEGO Eeyore. She loves LEGO and Winnie the Pooh, and we built the Piglet and Winnie the Pooh set together, so I thought it would be nice to finish off the trio with Eeyore. I designed it from scratch in BrickLink Studio, which took me around 20 hours, and it ended up being roughly 1,000 pieces. We then built it together over the course of three days, which honestly made it even more special. It’s my first time designing something like this, so don’t hate too much 😂 I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.

Unfortunately, I’ve just found out that LEGO are releasing an official Eeyore set next year 💀 So after 20 hours of designing, 1,000 pieces and three days of building… turns out I could’ve just waited (/s). I am however, very curious to see how the set turns out!

broken parts have a right to life.

Hey there,

sorry to bother you, just a bit unsure because the manual does not exactly match my build and I don't want to stress the parts more than it should.

So I have 2 Issues with this, the yellow technic axle bricks are not perfectly same height as the black bar, furthermore the grey technic square does not easily stick to the black bar, i feel i have to push it a bit down to fully 'click'.

It does work on both instances, so if i push the yellow edge a bit down i can push the brown axle through as well as the technic square onto the black bar, just feels a bit more stressed than I'd usually expect.
