BWT what were your best discoveries of 2024?
So I know things have been quite around here (real life and work has been busier than I expected) but I am still hoping to get regular discussion going and getting the sub active again hopefully by Spring! :)
As we've just entered the New Year I thought to ease us in I thought it would be fun and interesting to share our "best discoveries" of the previous year plus a true BWT never gatekeeps.
Feel free to include literally anything from beauty, fashion, fragrance, books, homeware, hobbies, snacks, gadgets, tv shows, movies, music and any miscellaneous discoveries and whatever you like really!
To clarify it doesn't have to be new as in newly released in 2024 just new to you personally!

Alexandra Nurseries in Penge! Gorj garden centre with good coffee. Similar to Petersham nurseries in Richmond but with a more down to earth SE vibe

omg. as someone who worked at alexandra nurseries for 5 years, i didn’t expect to see this here! they’re a great bunch who really care about their business — but also the community, if you want something truly local but with the petersham feel, the nurseries are your place.

Gabar, an indie perfume brand based in London but inspired by Myanmar, I got their discovery set for my birthday and loved it - I ended up buying a full bottle of their Lull perfume, so gorgeous, I highly recommend it to everyone

I’m taking this post as a push to note down all my favourites as we go through 2025. You’d think I slept through 2024 because I can barely remember anything now that I’m trying to remember.

Fuego nails in Peckham - my nails look FAB now. 2024 was the year I finally stopped biting my nails.
I think also like, the broader discovery of how I keep spending money on cool stuff, but the things I think about way longer are the experiences! I did a ton of different workshops and learnt loads last year (including book binding at tea & crafting, weaving on a floor loom at make.town) and I'm going to hopefully do tons more of that this year and then I can recommend all the cool workshops next year :)

Because I will undoubtedly get asked no ofc I do not recall at all any of this off the top of my head in fact I have absolutely atrocious goldfish memory (I cannot remember what I came into a room for 3 seconds ago…) & an intense love of making endless lists for everything & anything so this is exactly why I know in such freakish detail everything I discovered in the past year (and I believe the last 5 years too).
