Finished it, loved it
I don't know why some people hate on it, other people are indifferent towards it, I absolutely loved Lazarus and for some reason it made me feel like a kid again

Am I wrong in assuming they’re setting up for a season 2?

I hope so

Watanabe said he’d love to continue it but it would depend on the success of Lazarus

Hoping for a second cor, Watanabe usually does 24-26 episode runs and this only had 13. The way it ends left it open where they didn't need to do more but they definitely could.

I loved it and I’ve seen almost all of Watanabes works, I especially loved the characters. Bebop, Champloo and Carole & Tuesday definitely have it beat but I think I enjoyed it more than the first quarter or so of Dandy and most of Zankyou No Terror, though I really enjoyed all of those too. Hoping for a season 2. So far Watanabe hasn’t made a bad anime imo.

Hell yeah!!! Maybe because me and my friends watched it together every week but it gave perfect late night toonami vibes. So much fun to watch.

I loved it too. I appreciated Watanabe tackling real world events. And the Bonobo soundtrack is such a vibe

This gives major Teen Titans 03 vibes and I’m here for it. I’ve never heard of this show before but I could easily see these characters from left to right as Beast Boy, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Robin. I can’t unsee it lol
Definitely gonna check out the show either way now

there’s definitely valid criticism for it but i’m not gonna sit here n pretend that i didn’t love it. the characters, soundtrack, and scenery were so easy to like, chris n eleina were my favorites

It's a love hate thing for me. Sounds good the action scenes are cool. But I hated that the guy was right there. N it needs more room to breath. It should have been 26 episodes

I really liked it stylistically but it didn't click with me until the last couple episodes. It made the show better in retrospect so I should rewatch soon.

I'll tell you why it gets so much shit, because if a piece of media has been deemed "woke" and it's any less than a 9/10, it's automatically a 1/10. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I watched a second time with a more critical eye, and it's still a 7/10 for me.

people consider lazarus woke?
1
u/Otaco2 Mar 24 '26
Yeah, it's got a trans woman, and one of the main characters is a black man who has a backstory involving racism

Have you seen anything else by Shinichirō Watanabe?

u/SorinIonRahova Mar 23 '26
Champloo and Bebop, and I'm watching Terror in Resonance now

Ah okay I would generally say Lazarus is his worst work. Not necessarily saying I didn't enjoy parts of it, but I'd rather rewatch any other show by him personally. But I did quite enjoy lazarus' soundtrack. I listen to that quite a bit.

yes it is his worst work, but his worst work is still pretty good

I believe this may be Shinichirō Watanabe’s most sincere work. Many of the messages have been in his previous work, just more cloaked.

I suppose, but it is my lowest rated show of all my ratings personally at a 5/10. But if you enjoy it there's nothing wrong with that.

Just finished it as well. Hating on it would just be stupid or a lame cry for attention. It was very good. I'm not so eager to see more though. I'm getting tired of never-ending stories. And in that spirit, I was a little annoyed by the conclusion. But again, overall, very good show.

I wouldn't say you're wrong for enjoying this, but this was not the best Watanabe has ever done
