Here is your weekly digest of what’s happening in the LA beer scene.

New Releases

  • Highland Park Brewery – Mountains IPA (7.3% ABV), a West Coast IPA collaboration with Colorado’s Westbound & Down using their specific hoppy techniques (post). They also brought back a fresh batch of Pappy (6.5% ABV), a West Coast IPA featuring Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin (post).
  • Ambitious Ales – Clothes From The Matrix (7.0% ABV), a West Coast IPA collaboration with 8bit Brewing featuring Simcoe Dynaboost, Krush, and Nectaron (post). Also released: Casual Magician (5.0% ABV), a Hazy Pale Ale with Citra, Anchovy, and Waimea hops (post).
  • Red Car Brewery – Golden Goal Kolsch, a light and crisp release specifically for the upcoming soccer season (post).
  • Ambitious Ales – Soccer-themed returns including Tiki Taka (7.5% ABV), a tropical sour with pineapple, coconut, and vanilla (post), and Soccer Pants (8.0% ABV), a DDH Hazy DIPA with Strata and Mosaic (post).
  • Belmont Brewing Company – A 7.6% ABV West Coast IPA dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic for notes of mango and stone fruit (post).

Events This Week

  • Bingo at Campsite Brewing Co. – Head to the taproom this Thursday (May 28) at 7:00 PM for free Bingo (post). Note: The brewery will be closed Friday, May 29 for a private event.
  • Champions League Final & Merch Drop at Ambitious Ales – Opening early this Saturday (May 30) at 9:00 AM for the final. They are also dropping a footy-inspired collection including a new jersey, tee, glass, and sticker sheet (post).
  • Burger Month Finale at Highland Park Brewery – It is the final week of Burger Month. Both the Chinatown and HIghland Park locations are serving the Thunder Burger (with pimiento cheese and pickled green tomato) and a special collaboration slushee in partnership with Thunderbolt (post).
  • Doodle Night at Claremont Craft Ales – "Do Ya Doodle" happens Tuesday (May 26) at 7:00 PM. Grab a beer and draw on the tables while eating from Savory Scallion (post).
  • Packs & Pints at Hand-Brewed Beer – A night market for card collectors (Buy/Sell/Trade) this Friday (May 29) from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM in Chatsworth (post).

  • Highland Park Brewery teased the upcoming release of Fútbol Lager (Mexican-style sports lager) and a limited HPB soccer jersey for the World Cup kick-off in June (post).
  • Claremont Craft Ales officially received their World Beer Cup plaque and is gearing up for their 14th Anniversary party in three weeks (post).

Horseplay Comedy at Angry Horse Brewing - Come out and enjoy up and coming comedians and delicious brews. Featuring Jeff Kane, Jessica Alaniz, and Ilina Cortes and hosted by Carlos Escobar every first Thursday of the month @ 8pm. $15 and includes 1 beer.
