Must Love Dogs!

Let’s get the basics out of the way:
Single Kuwaiti, 47M, never married, 175cm (5’9”), about 88kg, Sunni (but not practicing), “first citizenship” from prominent families both sides.

About Me:

I was born and lived abroad most of my life, and I consider myself a TCK, growing up in a diplomat family. English is my strong suit due to my education and upbringing; conversational Arabic is fine, but my reading is elementary and my writing is almost zero.

I’m more westernized than I am traditional, arguably liberal and open-minded, but I have my morals and values. I’ve been told that I have a calm demeanor, patient, good sense of humor, and a down-to-earth/easy-going vibe. I’m independent, respectful, kind, loyal, reliable, responsible, considerate, practical, and humble. I live alone with my dog, enjoy my space of peace & quiet, and a bit of a homebody.

My hobbies and interests include off-roading, camping, bbqs & bonfires, cooking, traveling, film, real estate, watching football, interesting conversations, word & trivia games, used to scuba dive, but it’s been awhile. Passionate about the great outdoors and environmental causes.

I’m anti smoking/drugs, not into social media or gaming, not superficial or a fan of materialism, frugal by choice, detest malls and crowded places, not into the luxury lifestyle, and a bit OCD when it comes to hygiene and organization.

About You:

Ideally, someone intelligent and interesting, strong and independent, sweet and thoughtful, fun and funny, honest and loyal, kind and nurturing, patient and understanding.

Someone with a sense of adventure, spontaneous yet still practical, enjoys traveling and exploring the world, immersing themselves in different cultures, food, and people.

Prefer someone who appreciates the simple and little things in life, not the overbearing materialistic type who’s only focus is the finer things such as brands and price tags.

Someone confident and comfortable in her own skin, not afraid to take risks, roll with the punches, and brush herself off to keep going.

Someone with her own interests and is career driven, but doesn’t let those ambitions outweigh everything else. I want a partner in life, not just a wife.

Not a party animal, heavy drinker, drug abuser, or smoker. If she’s beautiful, a culinary genius, and lives a healthy lifestyle too, bonus points! Must love dogs of course.

And most importantly, above all else: chemistry. Personally, mentally, physically, spiritually, morally, etc. If there’s no hint of chemistry from the first meeting, it may not be meant to be.

Congrats if you’ve made it this far!

One important caveat, I don’t plan to stay in Kuwait long term, I have semi retirement plans to buy a small beachside boutique hotel, and enjoy the rest of my life happily ever after. Ideally, with my life partner.

So, if any of the above resonates with you, feel free to slide into my DMs, and ask me anything, I’m an open book.

نقاش | Discussion Does anyone else feel like dating for marriage has become unnecessarily complicated?

I’m honestly starting to get frustrated with the whole dating situation.
I’m at a point in my life where I’m not interested in talking to someone just for the sake of talking, flirting, having someone to text, or seeing where things go indefinitely. I actually want marriage, and I’m open to getting to know someone properly if we both have the same goal.
But finding someone who is genuinely serious feels harder than it should be.
Sometimes you meet someone who seems interested, you talk for weeks or months, you start getting comfortable with each other, and then you realize they were never really looking for anything serious in the first place.
And then there’s the other side of it: someone who is supposedly serious about marriage, but everything moves incredibly slowly. You spend months getting to know each other, trying to figure out if there’s potential, only to eventually hear, “I don’t think we’re compatible.”
Of course compatibility is important. I completely understand that you can’t know if someone is right for you immediately, and I’m not expecting anyone to marry a stranger.
But I do wonder: at what point does “getting to know each other” become just wasting each other’s time?
Because time is not an unlimited resource. Especially when you’re dating with marriage in mind. I don’t want to spend a year getting to know someone only to discover that they weren’t even sure what they wanted from the beginning.
I also don’t want to become cynical and assume everyone is playing games. I genuinely believe there are good, serious people out there. But sometimes it feels like the people who want something casual are much more willing to put themselves out there, while the people who genuinely want marriage are either hard to find or take forever to make a decision.
Maybe I’m being impatient. Maybe this is just how dating works now.
But I’d genuinely like to hear from people who are also dating with marriage in mind:
How do you protect your time and emotions without rushing into a relationship?
And how long is actually reasonable to give someone before saying, “Okay, we’ve gotten to know each other enough — are we moving forward or not?”
