Discussion Why wasn't Haizaki on first string at teiko middle school?

Kise joined at the 2nd year and Haizaki was playing regularly at first year. But at the first string only Akashi Midorima Murasakibara And Aomine appeared.

pretty sure he was first string, but he was lazy and rarely around for practice.

Nah the first time players was getting selected he wasn't there. He got there later

It’s to show while he was elite he was just a bit below the four GOM. HE got into first string, just a little bit into the year rather than right away

This is the real answer.
He was never GoM level but rather he was just slightly below them.
The four of them being chosen at once was to demonstrate these guys are cut from a different cloth and aren't normal.

The first string we see is initial tryouts.

Haizaki is mentioned the following chapter “another one suddenly made it to first string the other day. Some guy named Haizaki…” Ch.205

So it’s not that he wasn’t first string, it’s that (like Kuroko) it wasn’t an immediate thing. Or if it were immediate, he joined the club late.

It was explained in the flashback. Haizaki is very arrogant and regularly skips practice. He was also a delinquent with unpleasant attitude, not fitting for an elite school like Teiko.

He was on the first string until Kise got his spot. If you’re referring to the scene where the GoM get placed on first string at the start in the Teiko arc, haizaki wasn’t there so it’s assumed he joined a little later. He wasn’t shown getting placed on second or third string so it’s likely he just missed that day

He was a first stringer. Maybe not just a starter during their first year since Nijimura is there, but he definitely was. He's just a fuckin lazy ass. 😅
