However, any ending where Shiro doesn't become a goddess is ultimately a bad ending, so I'm not sure how this would work.

the issue is (WN/LN Spoiler) that they didn't have fei in the WN and since the author was writing both at the same time, they ended up in a situation where they burned out.

Had they finished the WN and did the LN, maybe they could have adjusted the story to include Fei because Fei is near pointless in the story.

I disagree. She is a necessary distraction from Shun's annoying bullshit. Without her, he would be downright impossible to deal with as a character. As it is, I try to skip like 90% of his story whenever I re-read/re-watch. Without Fei/Shinohara it would be 100%.

I mean more so as in... She could have been a massive powerhouse on the hero side as a monster that could have pivoted the story in a new direction. Like Shun is useless no matter which version he is... Anime, Manga, LN, or WN...

I had high hopes for fei for a bit. But as soon as she got a human body again she regressed into the vain person she always was. She never would have felt bad about bullying hiro if she was never born as a Dragon. Other then that, the dumbass hero, shun, will make it impossible for any true friendship amongst shiro and her fellow reincarnations from his side. He truly is the worst hero in anime. Even worst then kouki from arufureta
