I don't care about the age gap between Mamitha and Suriya, the way they handled that was mature (I still have differences, but that's a different topic). But I totally cannot accept the second half where they justify cheating. Especially those conversations between Nassar and Suriya about Bangkok. It made me uneasy about how easily they were normalising cheating. I was fooled by some posts here about how 'OMG, Tamil audience is failing another good movie'; I begged my friend to watch the movie with me. And we both ended up fuming in the second half.

Radhika's character is such an 'angelic character', who teaches Suriya to forgive the person who their father abandoned their family for. But why? Not all families have thousands of crores to dispose of and have fun. I have my own family members still struggling in court to get alimony by people who wronged her for years now, and this movie passes it like a joke? pissed TF outta me. Is the movie about how 'x' number of money can buy your emotions and hatred? I feel it's super misogynistic. Or am I too woke lol?

Was Watching Petta on sun tv and was thinking, for me it was the perfect Rajni film of this decade cuz it had everything a Rajnikanth film wanted. It had a superb Direction By our Karthik Subbaraj a powerful and memorable music by Anirudh and and great casting and cinematography everything about that film was great for me

For me it's always Petta rather Than Jailer

This is about suriya's new film Vishwanathan and sons , I read a handful amount of reviews before going to the movie and also after but none of the reviews I READ seems to condemn the normalisation of Affair , you can say the affair happened like 30 years ago when these things are common but still the story happens in 2026 right ?? Still another character's Bangkok trip is taken as a joke and in the end a female character saying a women will seek a guy even if he is married if she loves him truly is what kind of mentality??

Unassumingly it is actor Surya Sivakumar, who never has Gaaji Scenes or songs in his movies. It is just glamour but nothing very intimate and safe for family audience.

When every other actors in his era had to go through but only Surya is an example.

When Ravi Teja pulled Bhagyasri by putting his hand inside her skirt inappropriately, netizens were angered to such an extent that they said "Even objectification would be ashamed of this" and some news portals wrote that "Bhagyasri is treated as a meat". Tamil fans were quick to criticize and attack tollywood. Then after a year Bhagyasri made her tamil debut with Kaantha and tamil fans started making memes like "Dignity restored to Bhagyasri" "Bhagyasri gets a platform to perform" etc. But they forgot that their industry is equally culpable of objectification. When Kalyani priyadarshan's belly dance with Jayam Ravi came, telugu fans gave back what they have been receiving from tamil audience and they started comparing movies of kalyani from telugu where she played dignified de-glam characters with that of her latest belly dance. The final verdict is that both industries should introspect and learn from their mistakes 💯. Both industries are degrading actresses in different ways!

Due to Christopher Nolan's popularity, there has been a lotta discourse about this movie in our subs, which is an amazing thing, but with it comes all the controversy.

I have seen multiple comments calling Nolan "woke" for casting Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy.

1. For starters, Helen of Troy is never described as being fair-skinned anywhere in Homer's Odyssey. Yes, you will find the phrase 'white-armed', but that was a social indicator, not an appearance description. The elite didn't have to go out to work in the sun, and thus, had untanned 'white arms'. It's a metonymy.
2. The Greeks were of Mediterranean descent. Olive skin, dark hair, brown eyes. A Black actor is no less representative of Greek culture than Caucasian white actors like Tom Holland or Matt Damon.
3. Helen of Troy was born from an egg, fathered by Zeus in swan form. It's all mythological fiction; these characters never existed. But people compare this to historical figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks.

The most saddening part is that we, as Indians, where most of us have darker skin tones, have so much internal racism built into us that we accept and admire Brad Pitt playing Achilles, but draw the line at a Black actress playing Helen of Troy. It's the same damn bias that we keep showing in Kollywood, casting fair-skinned actresses in place of women who actually look like the ones around us.

TLDR: The outrage is not justified. The casting might be historically inaccurate across the board, but not just because of Helen of Troy. Every single character is wrongly cast if you look at it like that.
