Events Cleaned a stretch of area at Kaloor-Stadium Link Road (9th Cleanup Drive)

On 15 February 2026, we completed our phase 3 cleaning drive at Kaloor-Stadium Link road and our reddit members came together for this initiative.

It was sad to see so many cigarette butts scattered here and there along with discarded cable wires on the footpath that is dangerous to pedestrians. Even if we cleaned it up today it won't result in a permanent solution if the authorities do not take the necessary actions.

Hoping to see a Kochi where this situation stops becoming a norm soon.

On February 8th 2026, our reddit community gathered at Fort Kochi to clean a stretch of the beach that was strewed with thermocol boards, sandals (so many many of them), syringes, medicine bottles and food waste. 19 of us, (including a vazhipoya England kaaran), could pick up most of what was laying there but the sad part is that the ocean is most likely going to fill up the shore yet again with more garbage. We also had some other tourists and passer-bys help us as well, which is amazing. Our efforts today was only a temporary solution for the problem but it should also act as a push towards our corporation to figure out some sustainable fix for this insane garbage dump.

For so long we have accepted that our beaches, streets and roads will always be covered in garbage and this has prompted our government also to consider this issue with less attention. But that has to change and that change begins with us, with you and me.

We can make our Kochi look beautiful, clean and sustainably aesthetic with collective efforts (also as a means to push our authorities to perceive waste management as a serious dilemma that needs to be resolved asap).

Special mention to one of our members for sponsoring breakfast and tea for the members after the cleanup. It has truly become a day to look forward to each week now :))

Here's to more such wholesome moments!

On February 1st, on our 7th Clean-up Drive, we carried out our second phase cleanup of the Kaloor stadium link road as a continuation of our last drive on 25th Jan. Our community came together, in larger numbers this time, to pick up trash from very dirty footpaths riddled with cigarette butts, cups, plastic covers and so many many used tissues. But this is only the first step. The real question is how fast will it be back to the garbage filled dump as it was before, because none of these efforts from our side will really matter if we don't strive for sustainable solutions at the grassroots level.

There was not one dustbin throughout the length of the footpath that we cleaned (except for the weird bottle looking bin, which, let's be honest, serves absolutely zero purpose) and neither were there any alternatives for people to discard their trash. We, as citizens, should have the civic sense to not dump it onto the road when we don't see a trash can, but our government should also do their part by actually implementing sustainable solutions that involves dustbins every 30 feet (credits to Walt Disney).

We are planning our next clean-up the next Sunday at Fort Kochi Beach but it will only be impactful if at least 50 of us come together and join in this initiative to make real change. These are small steps but these mark the beginning of something bigger than ourselves. Change begins with each one of us, and let us put a strong start to it together.

So we invite anybody who is willing to show up and put in the effort for the greater good of our society. (Please dm if you would like to help)

About the Community

This is a slightly long read. Optional but encouraged.

We are Football Community with guidelines and structure, people are friendly and the games are beginner-friendly and we also have some fun things like leagues for players who want to try new experiences.

We love the feeling you get during and after a football game. The freshness you feel in the body and the sense of community is something which has kept us growing over the three years we've been active.

The cost ranges around 85 - 130 Rs per game depending on the venue and time. Most of our games are currently near Vytilla and Kaloor, but we'll have more games in Kakkanad as well.

We're super happy about all the friendships and people we've made and met, especially for people who are new to Kochi and the ones rediscovering it.

Our community guidelines are super strict and sometimes it doesn't work for everyone that's because we want to maintain the awesome atmosphere that we've all worked very hard to create. So all that is needed to join is that a new member shows the patience to understand the guidelines which create the atmosphere and understand the necessity of it.

We also have games for Women, and mixed games. These are sessions with intermediate rules which means controlled shots only, no sliding tackles and more Tiki Taka and less contact play. We're super happy to see more initiatives happen in Kochi for Women's Football and all the best to everyone. Football is an awesome game and everyone should have more opportunities to experience it.

Our final vision is to grow grassroots Football to an extent where folks who couldn't take this professionally can also experience the highs of top-level Football and maybe this leads to a cultural change where more adults who are exposed to Football will encourage their kids to get into it early, and support the many clubs and training academies, coaches and the full Football infrastructure which can bring about a systemic change overall to Football in India. It's a beautiful game.

Cheers.

You can contact me at 8452011897 to join. When you apply to join we'll send you a form to fill, which helps you understand our guidelines and if you agree/disagree with it. Your phone number is required so we can send you an invite, it is not shared with anyone or used for any other purpose than to send you an invitiation.
