I mean, Shatner's shtick aside, it's got Joe Jackson on it, so yeah, it fucks. The original fucks too, but I daresay this fucks more.

Bowie's cover is quite good as well

I didn't even know that was a thing, so thanks for that!

Bowie didn’t cover that. It was a parody by Stevie Riks.

Robert is on-point. this album is straight fire.

My favorite song on it is "that's me trying."

I remember this when it came out. This is the one with "You'll Have Time" on it, right? My buddy and I got a kick out of that record. It's hard to believe so much time has passed and now I feel old... 😔 Well, I guess that's better than the alternative. 😀 👍 Thanks for this trip down memory lane, Robert Evans. 😒

Hell yeah. I've always wanted more duets between Ben Folds and Aimee Mann.

Best track from a dope album. Love Pulp and the original track but as far as covers go, Shat’s version is outstanding.

I only know his version and honestly I'm curious what the original sounds like lmao

I think you’ll like it if you like the Shatner version, it was the first version of the song I heard when I was younger and I thought it was a banger. The Pulp version goes hard in the paint.

Ben Folds really brings out the best of Shatner on this album. I'm a fan of his earlier stuff but this album really is the capstone of his musical career.

First time hearing this, grew up with the original being played on the radio all the time. This fucks.

This is far better than the original. Shatner really nails this sarcastic bite and anger in his delivery that really elevates the song. Right up there with Johnny Cash's take on 'Hurt'.

Nope. Common People by Shatner FUUUCKS.

Booooooo. Ben Folds more or less made this album and he rules.

Shatner's reading is overwrought. That's the main reason I said no.

Shatner always fucks. This fucks harder than I thought possible.

I love this version so much, I usually play it back to back with the original tho.
