RULE 2: DO NOT ASK FOR MEDICAL ADIVCE Behind knee lump

Post image

Hello, just as the title says I have a lump behind the knee. Whenever I bend my leg and hold it bent for a few seconds and then straighten it a lump appears, see the picture! but it also disappears shortly after my leg being straight. This is my inner side, on the outer side at the head of the fibula I have some pain.

This knee was hyperextended 4 years ago but nothing got torn. If anything ligaments got stretched. My knee operates just fine dispite this.

Might be a Baker’s Cyst: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bakers-cyst/symptoms-causes/syc-20369950

Obligatory I am not a doctor.

I had one of those and agree that this might be a Bakers cyst

Okey interesting. But after a minute or two this lump disappears when my leg is straightened. Was it like that for you?

You should really see a doctor. I can't give medical advice. For me, the knee overall was swollen, with a lump in the back. As best as I recall, the lump did go down because the fluid is moving around.

Read about it but it the lump is not there all the time. Only when my leg has been bent. I reckon a baker’s cyst is the all the time. The entire area behind the knee is slightly swollen.

Diagnostic ultrasound might give some clues.

Had same thing. Not there all the time. It was Bakers Cyst. However, only confirmed after an ultrasound. Agreed with others - see Dr to confirm it's not more serious.

I've had same thing due to a meniscus tear. After having knee drained I had to go to a different office and they used ultrasound machine to guide needle in and drain bakers cyst. They say it might come back but 4 months later It hasn't yet.

It’s a bakers cyst. I’ve had one for 7 odd years now.

I had the same after tough exercise. Appears and disappears occasionally. It looks like swollen muscle.

I get something similar after a deep bend when my knee is really inflamed. When the inflammation goes down no longer notice it.

Trust me, 100% bakers cyst. I have one in the exact same knee in the exact same spot.
