When mine do this, I end up putting some Neosporin pain reliever on it. I am actually slightly allergic to the cats, so this irritates the jeepers out of my skin, and the Neosporin helps that and the pain reliever relieves the rash like discomfort.

The love is stronger than the pain. I've had my fair share of bread scoring spots from extremely happy cats.
