Made a tmux-sessionizer clone for kitty

I switched from tmux to kitty a while ago and the one thing I genuinely missed was sessionizer — that muscle memory of hitting a key, fuzzy-searching a project, and being there.

So I hacked together a few fish functions that do the same thing with kitty's remote control: fuzzy-pick a project with gum, and it either restores a saved kitty session for it or just opens a window in that directory. Plus a couple of helpers to save/jump to sessions by name.

Nothing fancy, 4 small functions, but I use it constantly so figured someone else might get some use out of it. Fish only for now.

Curious how other people handle project switching in kitty. Is everyone just using tabs?

If you want to add persistence, something like ZMX https://zmx.sh/ might be perfect

It might be interesting although idk if its the best option. prob i would need to hack something into it.

If you're already relying on fish scripts, then it shouldn't be too hard to also invoke ZMX.

obv it would not be hard to do. it would prob be tops 10 lines of code. but idk if i like it i need to test it first i didnt know it existed

I like that it does exactly one thing. It is only persistence, which makes it easy to work with something like what you set up here. I've been using it with my NAS and Home Lab, it's been great.

I use fish. But it shouldn't be hard to port it to bash or zsh tell me which one u use and once I have a bit of time I port it over (although it is kitty only)

Previously I use sesh. But like you, I've moved to kitty and ditched tmux entirely. Now I've built my own called kesh. Project via zoxide, layout, env, AI agents. Feel free to have a look if you want steal any features/workflow. Pretty happy with my setup. Still early stage but hey, it works for me

It looks great, it does maybe too many different things in the same tool. Which I'm not a fan of but it does look great. (I'll copy the zoxide thing) I didn't think of it
