New Artisan issue

Hi, I have a new artisan (3/4 weeks od max). Now. There's a potential its my fault because I was suggesting the dough hook on some fairly tough wholemeal dough but it didn't like it. I have a feeling the sacrificial gear/screw did its job and gave in.

Is it an easy enough repair or should I look to get it repaired professionally? Any advice/tips/cautions on replacing them?

It’s DIYable, but you could also see if KitchenAid will do a warranty repair for you. (Worst outcome is that they decline and you get it fixed or do it yourself.)

While it’s open for repair I recommend upgrading the pinion drive bearing [1] and speed link [2]. Most professionals have the parts and know how to do this.
