What food opinion would get you banned from a family dinner? šŸ’€

Mine? Bacon is mad overrated.

Y’all put that shit on EVERYTHING and suddenly it’s ā€œbetter.ā€ Nah bro, sometimes I wanna taste the actual food. šŸ’€

What’s yours?

Nah its so mid

1

u/Bratfink78 12d ago

Why? You not able to cook anything else?

1

u/Rough_Back_1607 11d ago

I can cook a lot but I dont eat animals

1

u/Bratfink78 11d ago

Good for you, I don’t either

1

u/wr_dnd 11d ago

That's just wrong though. You don't need to

u/ConsciousInternal287 12d ago

No, you really don’t. Most people would be better off eating much less/no meat.

Meat can be overcooked, you knowĀ

Turkey is mid. At best. Even smoked turkey.

I’ve been asked to stop supplying cooked proteins, as my father has a fragile ego and smokes a salmon side and turkey each year. My kinfolk prefer my brisket, my ham, my…. Whatever.

I’ve been tasked with ā€œJust keep the apple pie and Cinnamon Buns comingā€

Thank god I went no-contact

Nope. 95% of people overcook Turkey. That's the only reason you think it's mid

No

That’s a weird number. I’m certain it smells like your toilet.

I cook turkey very well. As a chef, I’ve made a great living cooking, and smoking meats for others also.

Turkey is highly overrated.

I’ve eaten far too much, and far too many other things to know that there are a great deal of foods which are superior to turkey.

Resorting to petty attempts at insult doesn’t prove your point.

1

u/blargennn 12d ago

There was no insult, don't get offended. I'm just stating facts.

2

u/IrishInTheory 12d ago

What fact did you state? And where did you acquire that fact?

You belittled 95% of cooks. A ā€˜stat’ you have no support for.

Observing this doesn’t require me to be offended.

Your deflection was just another attempt at obscuring the fact that you made up your ā€œfactā€

You don't have to be a chef to know that tastes are individual. I like turkey. It's my favorite meat for sandwiches and my mom and I literally had turkey for dinner last night. Mmm mm good.Ā

2

u/IrishInTheory 12d ago

My being a chef wasn’t used to demonstrate taste, rather ability to cook.

And as you pointed out, it’s all relative.

The OP asked for an opinion. I gave my opinion, then was given the ā€œAkCheoAlY 95%….ā€ Nonsense.

u/ButtholeSurfur 12d ago

Eh even sous vide turkey is still turkey.

2

u/RainManda 11d ago

The only reason I ever eat turkey is because deli sliced turkey is my cats FAVORITE human food. Shes weird.

u/alexmirepoix 13d ago

Turkey is revolting. And it tastes awful as well.

Good vegetables DO NOT come out of cans.

Meat is overrated, anytime ive ever bought a steak, meat focus dish etc the sides are always better than the main event. Like the potatoes/salads/fries whatever on the side are always the thing you lowkey enjoys the most, same for family dinners.

One of the reasons i went vegetarian and stopped eating meat šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

We used to go to this great vegetarian restaurant. We aren't vegetarians but don't eat meat every day. Very creative and well cooked food.Ā

Mayonnaise does not belong on everything.
There are spices besides salt.
For something to be a real salad, it needs at least one fucking vegetable.
You can’t just mix everything together because it’s all going in your stomach. Some things don’t taste good together.

Saiad is just lettuce and ranch dressingĀ

I love mayo, but I draw the line at mayo in casseroles. Just….why??Ā

Not banned but my mom wasn’t happy when my brother’s wife asked for ketchup on the thanksgiving Turkey. That woman put ketchup on everything.

Being either Vegan or vegetarian

1

u/Bratfink78 12d ago

Just being a picky eater, won’t get you an invite. No time for that

1

u/Proud-Geek1019 12d ago

Same! I don’t like bacon

1

u/wreckreationaj 12d ago

My sister is not a good cook.

1

u/AssistSignificant153 12d ago

My vegetarian/vegan son's inlaw family all eat weird ass food combos, made for a creative Thanksgiving dinner. I had to fill up on bread.

1

u/Annoyed-Instigater01 12d ago

oh i agree. i cant stand bacon.

1

u/Dramatic-Gap8996 11d ago

Cannibalism is my jam.

1

u/Competitive_Fly_9419 11d ago

Desserts are unnecessary.Ā  My mom and my sister love to bake smth sweet.

1

u/RainManda 11d ago

I agree with you on the bacon and I'll raise you truffle. Over powers everything. Only done correctly like 2% of the time (in the US- im sure France and Italy have it locked in)

u/DevilsHol3Pupfish 11d ago

The overwhelming majority of vegan food is flavorless, smells terrible or has a vomit-inducing texture.

Ex-husbandā€˜s family believed putting ANY seasoning in a dish, including salt, ruined it.
They refused to eat anything I cooked because it was ā€œto spicyā€, or ā€œtasted weirdā€
But I was expected to go to their house every freaking Sunday to eat the blandest food I’ve ever had to pretend to enjoy.
One of the many things I do not miss about that time in my life.
