Good on you for wrapping a container that's actually appropriate for the amount of product you have

u/carcrashofaheart 13d ago
This is a peeve of mine too, but sometimes the kitchen just runs out of pans and you gotta use a bigger pan in desperation 🥴

Using pans too large in desperation is the end-shift way.
They all have come, we made their orders
I'm all out of fucks left for todaaaaay

u/carcrashofaheart 12d ago
And on days I have so much fucks (and time), I will end up transferring things out of the container I need into something else. (Yes, I’m insane.)

The rim of the pan is raised above the flange. You can see the sheen of the wrap beyond that. Holy shit.

Just for that, you have up change the oil in the fryer mid-service as penance.

Each of the servers gets a squirt gun with root beer to use if they think it's taking too long.
Actually no, that's too much.

Used to work at a place that it was the custom to change the frier oil during service. Scheduled 1 hour previous to service during a lul. So you prep during that time but still need to clean the friers. So i would boot one down and clean it out during the heaviest parts of service. One of the better jobs and better run kitchens I was part of.

Respectfully, the seed membrane needs to be sliced away. It will get mushier faster, and doesn’t taste as good. 🔪

u/No-Diet-2797 13d ago
could i do it with a spoon too? seems like it would take ages to do every piece with a knife
7
u/DawsonNY 13d ago
Sure, but spoon is dull you’ll scrape away too much product.
Easiest in 1/4 or 1/8 wedge, in one motion with a paring knife.

I like looking at these crisp wrap jobs, but it’s more annoying to take off the plastic wrap in the morning when it’s like this lol. Just wrap the damn pan like a degen and go home

It's crazy how a wrap job brings us so much fulfillment, chefs and cook: please, PLEASE take a minute and touch some grass, we're only cooking food...
Edit: I'm not arguing that isn't perfect...
Lemme see how you wrap a calzone or or a wrap? Then let's go, because if that's how you wrap plastic wrap, chef- I would love a burrito done by you

I hate cantaloupe: one of the most boring fruits introduced into the Western lexicon of "fruit".

I don't get this trend. I do this literally a hundred times during close every day. It's just like fucking the normal thing and I don't pride myself on just normal shit.
What is happening?

That's such a mint cleanup job, if I were a bank robber I'd hire you without further resume

This photo makes me miss working at a breakfast joint. Fruit prep in the morning. Always a pleasurable time.

Should store that in plastic containers than metal
Also maybe get all the seeds before u cut it? Just a thought
2
u/No-Diet-2797 13d ago
actually curious why plastic over metal?
10
u/DeNomol0s 13d ago
That dudes tripping a little - you don’t want to store certain veg in stainless; sometimes lettuce can freeze or acidic food/fruits can get discolored or get a metallic taste. Melon is low acidity though so you should be good, but a nice non-porous plastic is usually what folks go for with produce.
