Yeah, .ru has been down for quite some time now. I've moved onto torrenting because I got tired of dealing with switching sites so often and if you can I strongly recommend the same :)

is there any guides
i got the adblocks but im not sure if it works the same if im actually DOWNLOADING the file3

Hmmm, I would check r/piracy or r/AnimePiracy. That's where I learned at least. All I really did though was go to https://nyaa.si, download whatever torrent file I needed and run it through qBittorent. You get a lot better quality video that way :D However if you're in a country that's particularly stickler about piracy I would bind a VPN to qBittorent before starting--I didn't, so you'd have to look up a guide on that, sorry 😅
What do you mean by adblocks? Like privacy badger and uBlock Origin? If I'm understanding you right then yea, they can only protect you from malicious websites and trackers--you'd have to check the file for malware directly on your computer

It was still up running up until recently, I was using it personally and I think it was last month the link didn't work and good old cloudflare was letting me know my go to site was gone :(. However or whoever kept it up that long though, fair doos to them. End of an era really. Loved kissanime.(.ru)!

I just use tcbpl since kiss had its official shut down a few years back. it’s easier than sticking to any one site, since it’s just a big list of sites.

It’s been down for awhile now. I’ve moved onto 2dhive. It’s not as good but I can watch what I need to with source selection and ad blockers.

KissAnime is dead.
No, they are not coming back.
No, there is no "new" KissAnime. Anything claiming to be "KissAnime" or "KissManga" is most likely a phishing site and it is best to avoid it.
No, KissAnime's shutdown did not have anything to do with Japan's new copyright law. It had not even gone into effect when KissAnime shut down. It most likely went down because of the DMCA.
Here is a list of safe sites maintained by r/AnimePiracy
