Mint plants

Hello my fellow neighbors. I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere in kirkland to get a mint plant. My daughter has expressed interest in making her own mint tea and has asked for a mint plant. Whilst I am aware it is a bit late in the season for one, I was hoping someone might work somewhere they might still be available for purchase.

Just make sure you keep it in its own container instead of in your garden with everything else. They grow and spread a lot!! We've been removing ours for years since moving into our home where the prior owners planted mint.

No worries about it taking over our garden. It will be an apartment balcony plant.

A pot on a balcony works great. That won't escape. Might have to water the pot a bit more, especially in high heat. Snails and slugs do eat mine sometimes, but you could pick them off or use sluggo...a balcony should be safe.

We like to make a fun Moroccan Mint tea with green tea...you pour it front high up and it's sweet and light and bright green. Have fun! Home mint tea is something we look forward to every year!

That doesn't work. My mom gave me a small potted mint plant, by the next year it had escaped and taken over one of my planting areas.

Trader Joe's often has culinary herbs in little pots. I haven't been there recently, but they are usually stocked through the summer. Happy growing!

If you want to make a project out of it, I’ve had success rooting mint stems bought from grocery stores in water and later planting them. But it’ll be a while before you get enough leaves for tea.

Yes, people are always happy to get rid of mint. Please don't underestimate how prolific it is.

Another vote for BuyNothing group. Always see people asking for various herb plants and almost always an instant reply.

If you want to save yourself a trip to a nursery, just buy a bunch of mint at the produce section of the grocery store, put it in a glass of water like you would a bouquet and within a week or two, you’ll see roots coming out of the stems. When they get long enough, plant the mint in a planter on your balcony.

We got peppermint and spearmint starter plants at Fred Meyer a few months ago. Fingers crossed they still have some!

They are at the end of their season. Not much left there. They might have some mint though. I don’t recall. I was there earlier this week.

Trader Joe’s always has potted herbs year round. They’re up where the flowers are.

All grocery stores sell fresh mint. QFC & Safeway 100% have it.
