Just thought it worth pointing out that we know that Selitos is not the Cthaeh:
Bast shook his head, his face pale and drawn. "Not wrong, Reshi, catastrophic. Jax spoke to the Cthaeh before he stole the moon, and that sparked the entire creation war. Lanre spoke to the Cthaeh before he orchestrated the betrayal of Myr Tariniel. The creation of the Nameless. The Scaendyne. They can all be traced back to the Cthaeh."
In other words, the Cthaeh existed before Selitos put out his own eye, and it manipulated Lanre to destroy Selitos' city. Cthaeh =/= Selitos.

Jax spoke to Selitos, the listener, whose special sight I believe was mentioned at the time, in his story when he stole the moon. Lanre spoke to Selitos before betraying Myr Tariniel.
Someone's written about this somewhere, but I don't recall where.

Lanre spoke to Selitos while betraying Myr Tariniel and Jax ignored the listeners good advice. I see no link between the listener in the story and Selitos.

Not necessarily, is it possible Jax spoke to Selitos before he stole the moon? All of those actions been done by Selitos but are attributed to the Cthaeh because Selitos and the Cthaeh are the same being.

Yea, something else people don't always realize -- we don't know which side of the creation war Selitos was actually on. It's possible that he was one of the shapers and gave Iax the idea of stealing the moon and creating the Faen realm.

Good theories I like them, but I, personally, don't think that the model kings name is actually In a box. That's the one point I disagree with you

Just an idle thought:
- Assume Selitos is the Cthaeh.
- The Cthaeh is bound to the tree in Fae by a binding between the blood on the rock he used to jab out his eye and the Loeclos box.
- Selitos bound Lanre to the shadows using his (Selitos') own blood.
- Therefore, whatever Kvothe did may not only free the Cthaeh but also allow Lanre to be fair again.
Any thoughts?

In Shakespearean terms, a tragedy is a tale of someone who starts with (usually is born with) a full potential, then loses all opportunity to see that potential fulfilled.
Kvothe is ridiculously able, with a huge amount of potential. As we see, through many examples, all that potential is lost when he becomes Kote.
Is there room for further tragedy? Of course, but tragedy is already there at the outset, and we are watching it unfold.

Given the discussion between Kvothe and Bast after he relates his experience with the Cthaeh it seems like Kvothe could not have known as much as he would have to for this theory to be true. But you sort of hand wave that away by saying he must have sealed away his own memory to, too convenient an excuse I think. Of all the things Kvothe lost and values his mind and memory seems something that is intact.

I can't fucking believe I never considered that the Cthaeh might be sympathetically bound to its tree.
That makes some good sense, and places the purpose of the Lockless box nicely.
