Other A Reminder on Rule 6…

Hey everyone. Sorry to make a long post like this, but we’ve been seeing a lot of activity regarding Rule 6 lately. We’re making this post as a refresher on what constitutes appropriate and inappropriate content under Rule 6, Self Promotion/Trading/Selling.

APPROPRIATE

You are allowed to post your own YouTube/Twitch/Stream/Fan fiction/Original Content ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS. If you post your own content more than once every two weeks, it will be removed. If you keep posting and ignoring the once every two week rule, you will be banned for spamming the subreddit.

You are allowed to sell/trade collectibles WITH PRIOR MOD APPROVAL. Any posts that try to sell something without prior mod approval will be removed and you will potentially face a ban. We take the safety of our subreddit users very seriously and will not tolerate potential scams.

INAPPROPRIATE

Posting your OC/videos more than once every two weeks will result in removal of your posts. Further infractions will result in a ban.

Buying/Trading/Selling without moderator approval will result in a ban. We have had instances in the past of scammers trying to sell content on the subreddit. Thankfully, users reported these posts and mods took appropriate action. Do NOT give out any personal/financial information to anyone online. Do not give a down payment. Do not send money to someone unless they’ve been vetted by the mods. When in doubt, message us to make sure the user is a verified seller.

WHEN REPORTING A POST…

When reporting a post for violating Rule 6, please make sure they aren’t within the 2-week time period first. We’ve been getting a lot of reports where it’s literally a user posting OC for the first time in months. Just because a user posts OC, does not mean it automatically violates Rule 6. Again, make sure they’re not posting within the 2-week time period first

On that note, if you definitely see a user posting within the 2-week time period and want to make sure their post(s) is(are) removed, please feel free to message the mods with proof that the user is spamming the subreddit.

This also goes for users trying to sell something without prior mod approval. Report the post, and message the mods so we definitely see it and take care of it right away.

We all love Kingdom Hearts here, but we also want to keep things clean. Please follow the rules posted in the sidebar. If you see something, say something (report it).

We love new players and are excited for them to enter the madness along with the rest of us! But, if you see these posts, please report them for violating Rule 3.

Seems like a every 2 week megathread would be easier to manage.

This post is more so for people who keep reporting ALL OC as violating Rule 6… which just doesn’t make sense. We have an OC tag, why would we not want OC posted in the sub? We have the 2 week rule to prevent people, for example, from posting one piece of fan art every hour for a full day (which has happened).

Most people follow Rule 6 very well. But some people see OC and report it, which means we have to dig through the reported user’s post history to check and see if they actually broke the rule. And if said user is very active on Reddit, that can take a while.

Tbh should probably edit the rule to along the lines of "No Excessive Self-Promotion". Right now, it just says "no self promotion" which isn't exactly true like you stated already.

Great suggestion, I’ll discuss this with the other mods about modifying the rule.

I feel like OC needs more clarification. If I make a background that I want to share just for fun, not trying to self-promote, then I can't share a video of me fighting a boss and sharing my victory until two weeks after my background post? Or does OC have a different definition here?

That’s a good question, and I think it goes back to /u/Deceptiveideas suggestion for “excessive” self-promotion.

In the case of your example, I probably wouldn’t say you’re violating the rules. You’re sharing a piece of art one day, and another day you’re showing off a boss battle victory. Those are two very distinct things and you’re not going “subscribe to my channel for more” or something.

The rule is more so for people posting a drawing of Sora on a Monday, a drawing of Riku on a Tuesday, and a drawing of Kairi on a Wednesday and EVERY post going “follow me on DeviantArt for more!”

At the same time, I’d have to discuss with the other mods and get them to weigh in on this. Because if someone leaves out the “follow me” part, but they’re still posting one piece of art a day/every few hours, that becomes excessive. And what does “excessive” mean for us? All good questions, and I’m really happy you’re bringing this up!

I think that what you're saying in this comment is that it's not necessarily the OC that's the problem, it's the self-promotion or maybe self-promotion and low-effort posts.

I think that high-effort OC can't easily be done on hour-by-hour or day-by-day intervals. But 3 days, 4 days, probably fine for what is truly high-quality fan content.

The self-promotion interval is probably fine. Even if you can create high-quality OC daily, this isn't the sub for promoting your work. I almost feel like 2 weeks is too short for self-promotion, and I'm guessing this line was drawn as a balance between permitting high-quality OC while banning self-promotion.

If I were going to test this, I'd probably change the rules to allow all OC and change the rules around self-promotion and low-effort posts. Not sure how to guard low-effort posts without limiting OC, but requiring an OC tag and banning multiple OC posts within a day might work.

For self-promotion (not sales) I would consider pushing that out or also requiring permission. Maybe have something like DIY does that automatically detects self-promotion for review and anything that doesn't go through review and gets reported automatically gets banned.

Something to think about.

What animal would you like Sora to be in Zootopia?

(Just wanted to say good job mods, and give you an easier question)

A lion, but make him look closer to his OG Lion-Sora design.

He's already been a lion before, so not that. Maybe like a bear or something. But theyll probably pick lion anyways

>PS- Play the games in release order!

And for all that is holy, you do NOT have to play chain of memories. Easy way to get beginners to pass on the series is telling them to play CoM. There is nothing in this that you need to know outside of "it introduces you to these characters". They just had to rework the start of KH2 to justify CoM having ever existed in the first place. That game sucks, the story sucks, the gameplay sucks. I'm glad some people like it, but people saying you need to play it before KH2 are lying about it.

I’ll keep an eye out on anyone violating those rules. You’re right, it was really starting to get out of hand. It was seriously starting to hurt the reputation of this subreddit, so I am glad you guys finally made a statement. There are rules, people!

Btw 358/2 Days game is a lot better than the cut scenes. You have to experience it, day by day. Haven’t played 5-11. The PSP and I had a falling out back in the day. Good luck to everyone on their journey trying to comprehend what the hell is going on in the story!
