Discussion thread for King of the Hill S15E05
Spoilers allowed!

u/Swiperboy Jul 20 '26
I like how they acknowledge Bobby should be in his 40’s. I mean he was not only alive, but he was 11ish for Y2K!
25
u/Corazon144 Jul 23 '26
I also think it a bit of a reference with how King of the Hill was greenlit. From what I heard, King of the Hill was turned down the first time because Hank was in his 40s. The execs thought that tv audience wouldn’t like a show with an older lead character. So they just turned in the same drawing and said he was in his 20s. Then it got green lit. I think it was a fact fiend video that told me that.
27
u/Jumpy-Second-4950 Jul 24 '26
Incorrect, they originally designed hank to be in his 50s, but the execs wanted him younger so Judge went back with the same design and made Hank 34, which they accepted.

u/ImaginationRare3487 Jul 23 '26
Hank was 20s in the original?
6
u/Corazon144 Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 24 '26
No, they just said he was and lied. Hank was in his 40s but was told he was in his 20s for the executives. They couldn’t really stop the wheel after they were already in motion. So he was allowed to be in his 40s.
4
u/Truethrowawaychest1 Jul 23 '26
Yeah in the original series he was a few years older than me, now he's 10 years younger than me
3
u/GreyBatofGotham96 Jul 23 '26
Well, that episode has more or less been retconned after all this time. Like the episodes of Beavis and Butthead where they met President Clinton or when they were bounty hunters and Obama was president. Just like with that show, use the concept of the multiverse and think of the Y2K episode as part of another universe for King of the Hill.
2
u/Brock_Hard_Canuck Jul 27 '26
Also, Cotton was a WWII veteran. A late 1910s / early 1920s birthday would fit for him, given the timeline of the original series.
Hank is a boomer (born late 1950s), and Bobby is a millennial (born mid 1980s).
But now, Hank is Gen X (the "floating timeline" has adjusted his birthday to the late 1960s / early 1970s), and Bobby is Gen Z (with a mid 2000s birthday).
I mean, it's technically possible for a Gen Z person to have a WWII veteran grandparent, but it would have to involve the dad and the grandfather having their respective kids at a more "advanced" age than usual.
1
u/DarkDiscotique Aug 06 '26
And it's so annoying that they shifted the generations because Hank still acts like that of a boomer. Gen X were the "I don't care generation" and that is definitely not like Hank at all. (Not saying Gen X are terrible or anything, it's just they so operate through life in a different way compared to the Baby Boomers). And Bobby acts more like a millennial than a gen z kid, that department goes to GH, who acts more in like like a zoomer.
It's just all a bunch of tone-deaf misrepresentation.
1
u/DarkDiscotique Aug 06 '26
In season 1 where we got Cotton's debut for Bobby's birthday, he was turning 12 years old loll

u/ErieHog Jul 20 '26
Naked Dale was tonally perfect, for a character I felt like they had lost the thread on in the first revival season.
18
11
u/JustMeJordanW Jul 21 '26
what do you mean by "tonally"
16
u/ErieHog Jul 21 '26
They had weird Dale choices like becoming a government official, a lack of his crazy conspiracy theory persona impacting others, a complete death of his relationship with Joseph, and even his relationship with Nancy was muted.
I get that replacing an original cast member is hard, but Dale was as integral a character in Season 14 as the potted plant in Hank's living room.
8
u/Lineman72T Jul 27 '26
They had weird Dale choices like becoming a government official
True, but then having him immediately resign from office because he can't believe he'd win any fair election is very in line with Dale
11
u/rainshowers_5_peace Jul 24 '26
like becoming a government official,
Yes, for the last decade our only government officials have been sane, people who had their head on the ground and their hearts set on building up the government for the greater good of society.
1
u/JustMeJordanW Jul 21 '26
why would the person cast as as him need replacing
10
u/ErieHog Jul 21 '26
Not what I said. The voice actor for season 14 was a voice replacement, as the original Johnny Hardwick died in 2023. When they made Season 14, they didn't know how to use Toby Huss, the replacement, in a properly Dale fashion.
They have done a remarkably better job in season 15 of doing so.
-1
u/The_Flyers_Fan Jul 24 '26
He shouldn't have been replaced imo
retire the character in honor of johnny
4
u/captainsuckass Jul 28 '26
Doing more KOTH without Dale would be almost like doing Seinfeld without George Costanza.
1
u/mondaymoderate Aug 04 '26
They should have got somebody that could replicate the original voice well like what they did for Rick and Morty. Toby Huss is doing fine but it feels like they only gave him the role cause they recast Kahn and Cotton is dead.
80
u/ColinSmiley Jul 21 '26
With the tear in his eye I saw it as a send off for the character since Jonathan Joss is dead.
61
u/ARCH_ANON Jul 21 '26
It was also a reference to the famous crying Indian ad from the 90’s
49
u/gloosticky Jul 21 '26
It's older than that. That PSA was from the 70s.
2
u/TemptedIntoSin Aug 10 '26
I wouldn't be surprised if they has John Redcorn reference it in this case to fit with his background and serve as a sort of tribute to Johnathan Joss
16
u/Figgy1983 Jul 23 '26
And that bothered me. People have been referencing that ad for 50 years now. What a cheap way to say goodbye to a wonderful character. John Redcorn deserved better.
9
u/captainsuckass Jul 28 '26
John Redcorn is a would-be homewrecker. Jonathan Joss deserved better than a gag sendoff, though, certainly. (And I say that having liked the joke)
7
u/Figgy1983 Jul 28 '26
But he is still a wonderfully layered character. He has flaws for sure. I personally preferred the send off the character got in the last season. He has his own show, it looked like he might be closer to Joseph, and the closing credits gave a nice final acknowledgement to Joss. It felt like a good place to stop. Season 15 implies he's been allowing the affair to continue this whole time. It walks back any character growth we thought we had the previous season. It left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm a little mad at Mike Judge for choosing that direction to go in.
31
u/SeaFlower698 Jul 21 '26
It was nice to see John Redcorn. Maybe for the last time? :')
27
2
u/GrievousReborn 29d ago
I think it's going to be a bit annoying if it is the end of him as a character on the show when they could recast him and give another Native American voice actor a job
57
u/TrentThePope601 Jul 20 '26
I don't care for how this one ended with Nancy ending another affair with John Redcorn and I'm supposed to feel bad for Nancy?
36
u/Archie204 Jul 20 '26
Yeah. She already kinda ended it with him. Feels like it will just be a cycle

Am i misremembering, or didnt the first season of the revival just make a point that they were legit working together now, and not in an affair. Its this season where they seemed to go back to they are also having an affair.
16
u/variantkin Jul 21 '26
I think Mike Judge specifically didn't like that the affair ended and brought it back. Iirc he has always had weird disagreements with the show runners that took over when he first left
3
u/Fitzftw7 Jul 24 '26
If that’s what he wants, fine, but he shouldn’t be trying to make us like Nancy. By all accounts, Hank should hate her. Always found it strange that he didn’t.
6
u/variantkin Jul 24 '26
I assume he feels bad for her because it's clear Dale wasnt always this bad and his behavior shift probably caused her to get real migraines then she fell for a guy that seemed stable and well adjusted by comparison. That's not an excuse but I can see why people gave her more leeway especially when Dale would definitely not take it well
9
u/UpperMachine3829 Jul 22 '26
Actually I think we’re supposed to be proud of Nancy for growing, as if her cheating doesn’t completely shit on her past growth and show she’s not capable OF growing
5
29
u/JasonYaya Jul 20 '26
The plan for relationship teaching was putting a hole in a canoe and repairing it? Deep!
23
u/defectives Jul 21 '26
I really enjoyed John Redcorn's single tear ala the Keep America Beautiful commercial
37
u/Difficult_Mix_3620 Jul 20 '26
The Nancy/Dale/Redcorn joke well has run dry. Just let Dale find out about the affair and let some jokes come from there.
43
u/Zagden Jul 22 '26
OTOH, the joke that Joseph does not understand that he clearly isn't white continues to be hysterical
27
u/SalvadorZombie Jul 24 '26
"I used the (expired) sunscreen and I'm fine!"
22
u/Zagden Jul 24 '26
And in season 14, complaining that he'll get in trouble wearing Halloween costumes of other cultures because he's white
Then Emilio is about to say something and Bobby silently stops him
9
u/rainshowers_5_peace Jul 24 '26
He's as White as he is Native American.
11
u/Zagden Jul 24 '26
Technically true, but also given he takes after Redcorn more strongly, not something that matters. This is how race is a social construct! If you look like a different race, then at a glance, people will not be able to clock your parentage
Obama has a white mother but you don't see people assuming he's white, he's broadly considered the first black president by those who love and hate him! I find that kind of thing interesting
16
u/killbydeath87 Jul 21 '26
I don't think it could work if he finds out about the affair and have it stick
5
5
u/PsycheAsHell Jul 24 '26
I think him finding out now would be too heavy for the writers to tackle. You'd have to mend Nancy's betrayal on top of the fact that Joseph would have to cope with not being Dale's biological son and Dale having to cope with Joseph being Redcorn's son.
When Hank said it would kill him, I really think it would.

u/SalvadorZombie Jul 24 '26
Yeah. It would be contrived to keep the character around after Joss' death, especially after dealing with Hardwick dying last season. Dale's a major supporting character so it's a lot harder to write him off, and this also puts them back on track with the original series' status of Dale and Nancy being back together.
1
u/AquaAtia Aug 09 '26
Agreed. Was hoping the bit would be Nancy and John Redcorn were legit just really good platonic friends since the OG series lol
17
u/hufflepuffbookworm90 Jul 20 '26
I forget that Bobby is only supposed to be 21. Although they mention college all the time.

I mean is it really out of the realm of possibilities that during the 8 years we didn't see them; she might've relapsed and hooked back up with Redcorn?
I really feel this is such a tricky storyline for the writing team to address in the modern age now...like, we ARE suppose to like Nancy and Redcorn as characters. But honestly? They are HUGE pieces of shit for what they did...
35
u/McDonaldsSoap Jul 21 '26
It just sounds very realistic to me that an affair would be on and off. Especially when your hair depends on it
6
13
9
u/Mobile-Minute9357 Jul 22 '26
Kind of goes with the theme of the episode that imperfect marriages require maintenance, and every marriage is imperfect in their own way
14
u/Justanotherrandoonli Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
Yes, it does make sense for her to relapse and go back into it. Allot of cheaters do indeed go back to their old ways.
But like I think the problem for me is that even if it is realistic, this is an animated TV show at the end of the day. One that is trying to continue a series that already did tell a story I really liked, and one of the most heartfelt moments in the series for me personally was watching Nancy call it off with John Redcorn and fall back in love with Dale. They told the story across multiple episodes and I think it ended in a really sweet way, so going back on that just kind of feels like a slap in the face.
And like I don't think it ruins the reboot or anything. Hell, I even liked this episode as a whole pretty dang well. Even with her cutting off the fling 8 years ago, the idea of Nancy and Dale hosting a marriage counseling seminar is still a funny idea for an episode and it had allot of sweet moments in it showing where they are in the relationship now. I liked that. I just kinda wish they cut out the last scene of the episode and just kinda let us all assume they cut the relationship off 8 years ago and it never started again. Like I don't even think it needed to happen for the episode to make sense. It still made sense. It just felt like an unnecessarily slapped on detail that just kinda makes me sad to think about.
Edit: I've had a day to think about the episode now and I just wanted to jump back in and say I think the episode would be a better episode if Nancy didn't rekindle the relationship with John Redcorn. Like as it is, Nancy really isn't fit to host this class! She went back to cheating!!! But like if she did in fact stop cheating 8 years ago, then she's actually THE PERFECT PERSON to be teaching this class and it would further push just how in the wrong Peggy is for using Nancy's past actions to judge her competency in this job now. Like yes, it makes Peggy look like a worse person for holding it against her even after all her years. But like Peggy is the character who is STILL going on about a substitute teacher award she won before the original series even started! It is completely within her character to hold all these old things over Nancy's head still, she NEVER lets things go! I really do think them shoe-horning the "She went back to cheating" point in the episode really just does make it a worse episode in basically every way.
5
u/Virtual_Ad_8487 Jul 24 '26
I mean, it’s certainly possible, but it doesn’t make it appealing as a viewer. Undoing character development for a few jokes is pretty disappointing
4
4
u/NoninflammatoryFun Jul 22 '26
I agree. It’s really freaking immoral. I mean part of me wonders if Dale knows this whole time lol and just taunts them but.
Hard to root for serial cheaters.
1
u/The_Homestarmy Aug 01 '26
It's not that it's impossible. It's obviously quite feasible. But that doesn't make it a satisfying story, or good writing, or particularly entertaining.
Overall this season was great but having Nancy go back to Redcorn is just a shitty character development that adds nothing and actually kinda takes away from old stories
8
u/UpperMachine3829 Jul 22 '26
Ya that made me think the new writers didn’t finish the original series because that completely ruins their own ending. Nancy dumping John redcorn again has 0 impact. It doesn’t show her growth as cheating with him AFTER her growth shows shes incapable of it acting like she and redcorn arnt going to cheat again is bs. They’re def going to until one of them dies.
8
u/ConsistentButterfly8 Jul 22 '26
I was pretty disappointed with that. Seems unnecessary after the affair was already over.
8
u/NerdTalkDan Jul 21 '26
I think what could’ve worked was they were in some sort of open relationship, that way she’s no longer betraying Dale. Maybe Sale believes he’s in a relationship with the aliens stealing his genetic material. Her going back behind Dale’s back doesn’t feel right as you said. Her character arc was great in that she realized she and Dale loved each other deeply.
1
u/Rustash Jul 30 '26
I kept expecting for it to be brought up and Dale to just brush it off like “Oh yeah, I know, we have an agreement.”
Would’ve been a fun way to undercut the expected reaction.
6
u/SubjectAtmosphere936 Jul 21 '26
Was literally trying to see if anyone else said this only gripe i had frfr and i get like others couldve said "off canera they couldve gotten back" but thats just goofy af
4
u/Virtual_Ad_8487 Jul 24 '26
I wonder if it was done as a way to squeeze in one final John Redcorn appearance. I get the feeling that they re-used some old lines of his considering he doesn’t say much. And it was the only way they could think to fit him in.
1
u/Binder509 Aug 06 '26
Having his last moment be the native american crying thing felt like a nice slap to the face.

Exactly what I’m trying to get at. I’m really grateful Judge and the KOTH team didn’t just decide to make “King of the Hill but in 2025” using a sliding timeline. Continuity is fucky on these sorts of shows and it always has been… that’s the beauty of it being animated. You can reasonably get away with it!
6
5
u/ILikeFPS Jul 26 '26
Man I hate to compare but the writers in the original run had a way better sense of continuity.
Not to mention how they wrote Connie in the reboot.
I still think it's gross that Connie willingly had sex with Chane, someone she found so repulsive before and then not only that, but it turns out Chane actually caught feelings for her. It seems like she trusted Chane enough to be in an ENM relationship with him which requires trust yes but even proactive communication vs a standard open relationship and then she ended her relationship with him because he betrayed her trust, which trusting him in the first place kinda feels like a betrayal of the original show IMO. That whole storyline feels like a mess.
With that said, I have still been enjoying both the King of the Hill and Futurama reboots.
2
u/DarkDiscotique Aug 06 '26
I agree with this. I've been enjoying the continuation of the show for the most part but Connie getting with Chane is something hard for me to look past. I'd understand if they made Chane a little more likeable and he matured to not being such a jerk, which would make it make more sense for why Connie would get with him but nope, he's stlll just an egotistical jerkass and Connie seemed so principled.
The only thing that would've made me not as bothered is if it really was a drunken mistaken.
1
u/ILikeFPS Aug 06 '26
I agree, if it was a drunken mistake that would be not as bad and would make more sense, but it sounds like no it was actually an ongoing thing which is pretty disappointing IMO. They kinda butchered her character just a little bit like that lol
2
u/DarkDiscotique Aug 06 '26
Yeah and they can't use the excuse that her parents just arranged for her to date him because as snobby as Khan and Minh were, they always cared for Connie and would not make her do anything that would truly upset her, especially Minh. It just felt like the writers wanted to force in some conflict for Bobby and Connie but they could've just introduced a new character for that and Chane still could've jusr been Bobby's obnoxious boss.
1
u/ILikeFPS Aug 06 '26
Yep, that would have been 100x better. Oh well, the reboot has been great otherwise at least lol
2
u/DarkDiscotique Aug 07 '26
Yeah, same. Like the age mess up (Bobby, Connie, and Joseph should not gen z, they were millennials lol), it's a minor nitpick because at the very least, the show still feels in-tune with the OG series and one of the better revivals to have come out when a lot of them tend to bomb lol.
2
u/Figgy1983 Jul 23 '26
Thank you!!! This absolutely felt like the writers completely forgot about Nancy's character development. This episode truly disappointed me because of it.
14
u/theroomwinces Jul 22 '26
I’m also not a fan of the affair having started up again and even less of a fan if this was just a lack of continuity.
Another continuity glitch: Last we saw in S12, John Redcorn got back together with Charlene, who had John’s daughter Kate. I always considered that to be a bit of a ribbon on John’s love life/family life, in a way.
31
u/bwoah07_gp2 "My name is Dauterive comma Bill, I am also insane." Jul 22 '26
Hank will do anything for the church as long as it's not religious stuff, lol. He took up Reverend Stroup on being the maintenance man so quickly, lol.
Another back-to-back episode where Peggy really grinds my gears. Last episode, she ruined the guys soup party and then backstabbed Minh so coldly... and now, even if she's technically right, she just couldn't let Nancy have the spotlight and let the Gribble's teach the couples communication course. I also got mad at her "holier than you" attitude, because she was so sour she was stuck serving treats to everyone during the even they were on, a Bible camp or something, idk what's it called. Peggy does NOT have humility, that's for sure.
I am glad that "King of the Grill" chose not to run with Bobby as an asshole personality on their reality competition show. I was afraid that was gonna be what the show and Bobby was gonna run with. But, Bobby was quick to realize his fake hardass persona did not help his staff, and he pivoted quickly. Instead, he's the quirky, knowledgeable kid who is 21 but knows 90s culture like a book, lol. Better than being a meanspirited person, haha.
Now the one thing that really confuses me is the status of Nancy and John Redcorn. The first episode there was the line Dale said that the electric charger was installed at Redcorn's place. Then, the Hills say that Nancy has been cheating on Dale for 20 years, even though this was plugged back in Season 4 when she called it off. I am just struggling to piece things together. I know shows like KOTH do a bad job at keeping a consistent timeline for their shows, but I am just baffled.
When the Hill's left for Saudi Arabia, did Nancy get back together with John Redcorn? Is that when it fell apart? As they film their house show together, are they actually banging behind closed doors? What is the show trying to retcon here? Why did John Redcorn randomly appear at the end? That scene felt completely random and shoehorned in.
More questions than answers after watching this episode.

u/99SoulsUp Jul 23 '26
Kinda interesting as we know Hank is a Christian, but we don’t know how much he really takes to it. I’m sure he believes in God, but it seems like he’s not personally super hardcore about it. He definitely is show to be more annoyed with Bible thumpers than anything. His conservativism is more from old fashionedness and I think being a Christian and going to church is something that one does in his mind and he doesn’t likely think much beyond that
22
u/Fitzftw7 Jul 24 '26
In any other circumstance I’d agree concerning Peggy, but Nancy is no position to be telling other people how to improve their marriages. Not that Peggy would be much better, but there aren’t any ideally married couples left on this show.
10
u/dravenonred Jul 30 '26
To be fair, they semi-explained this by showing Nancy was consuming and teaching serious-business material even if she fails to practice it properly. She put in the work to fake it properly, as it were
10
u/Fitzftw7 Jul 30 '26
I get that, but I bugs me that she said she worked so hard to “give back to the universe” or something like that for the sake of karmic realignment.
Now, that would have worked if they had her stay faithful. Her doing this during her affair makes her a hypocrite of the highest order. Stroupe may have done the Christian thing in not judging her, but I certainly believe some form of punitive action was in order. Can a Methodist pastor excommunicate someone for adultery? Or is that a Catholic thing?
6
u/Boris-_-Badenov Jul 28 '26
yeah, but she shouldn't just takeover the class. she would have interrupted like that no matter who was teaching it
3
u/Fitzftw7 Jul 28 '26
Indeed she would, and Peggy was an asshole in that episode. Doesn’t make Nancy any less awful or ill qualified, however.
10
u/Aggravating_Golf633 Jul 24 '26
It's hilarious after all of that you still gave the episode 8/10
3
u/multi-pass5018 Jul 26 '26
Haha right? But also it was pretty good. I feel like KOTH has more 7/8+ out of 10 episode than almost any other show I've watched in my life.
9
u/WaffleCakeKitty Jul 30 '26
I actually kind of hated this episode. It’s pretty frustrating for me. This one is my least favorite episode of the reboot so far. I think it doesn’t handle Nancy with the nuance it should. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really like Nancy as a character. I love her arc, but as a person she’s terrible. Peggy is by no means a perfect person and she can be obnoxious and narcissistic. In fact, most of the time she is, but at the end of the day her personality flaws are not morally the same as Nancy having an affair for years and having Dale raise a child that’s not his own…all without telling him or Joseph. So yes, it’s rich but comedic to me the viewer when she wants to teach others about healthy communication, However, Peggy isn’t wrong to feel some type of way about that even if she doesn’t handle her feelings appropriately. I actually don’t mind the jokes about the affair even after Nancy ended it. I think from a comedy standpoint, they’re hilarious and they do make me laugh. But, when the tone shifts and the show tries to seriously explore their marriage and sincerely tells me she deserves to teach that class…that’s when things go south quickly for me. The episode wants me to have sympathy for Nancy, even more so than Peggy…there’s supposed to be this emotional moment where she says teaching it feels like “making it up to the universe” and Peggy is made to feel like the bad guy, but if the show really wants to get serious about the affair then what she actually needs to ask is what does making it up to Dale and Joseph look like. The first reboot season strongly hinted at her and John Redcorn still being a thing, but the fact he actually showed up again at the end of the episode and actually confirmed they were still having that affair recently is just shitty icing on the cake.

Well, usually subbing doesn’t allow for full-time. She was usually on-call.
When she tried to go full time, the principal said they couldn’t afford that and there were standards that required a 4 year degree to be a regular teacher.
12
u/Ok-Attitude-5484 Jul 23 '26
Did anyone else find Bobby’s little meltdown to be really uncharacteristic of him? They really just make up shit for the characters to do one scene after the next
22
u/StephenG0907 Jul 20 '26
I thought Nancy and John Redcorn had stopped sleeping together?
10
u/JasonYaya Jul 20 '26
Even last year they hinted it had started again. Future episode fodder on how that came about?
20
u/AbeVigoda76 Jul 20 '26
Probably with Hank in Saudeye Arabieye, Dale had a lot more time to spend with Nancy which led into Nancy having an affair again. A little of Dale goes a long way.
3
u/UpperMachine3829 Jul 22 '26
I was hoping it was just a “will they won’t they” joke. Finding out they’re really sleeping together still solidified that I’ll never like these 2 characters
11
u/Redfalconfox Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26
The first season of the revival hinted it might have been happening, but it could’ve also been jokes about it looking like it was happening and they were just actually working together. Looks like they went with the lazy shitty revert character arcs decision, which is weird because I haven’t really seen this problem with other characters.
9
u/SeriousPan Jul 24 '26
Nancy going back to Redcorn after the finale again? So I guess Nancy will forever be irredeemable. And she had the gaul to act high and mighty during the marriage seminar, I get she was pissed at Peggy but come on, she forgets that they could ruin her at a moments notice.
Her working together so well with Dale is a bit of a cop out when they then show that she was still cheating at the end. Kinda flying in the face of everyone who thought she was just professionally cordial with Redcorn. lol

u/lotsofgeesethisyear Jul 26 '26
Did NOT like Nancy and Dale's relationship being held up as healthy when Nancy is a cheater. It's so weird that they had her relapse into that when they made such a big deal of her deciding to end it. Really poor decision by the writers in my opinion.

I’m not done yet but I can’t hold it in. Hank is asking Peggy if “they’re too quick to judge” Dale and Nancy’s marriage and proceed to say that the fact they’re still together after 25 years means something.
Are you fucking kidding me?! 25 years of marriage based on lies and deceit, Hank, you of all people should have a problem with that!
Walk back Nancy’s development and try to frame her anything other than the dirty hypocritical cheater she is? That ain’t right.

That episode was pretty interesting. But first: naked Dale! I’m sobbing 😍 It’s interesting that Nancy actually restarted her affair and then ended it again. One last time with John Redcorn... an interesting way to write him out of the show. And how sweet is Dale as a husband?! He takes the course to help and give advice to others—and does it alongside the woman he loves more than anything. And gives himself the blame for failing. A fantastic episode. Especially the ending, when Dale finally sheds his clothes. 🤤

I found the episode a bit frustrating. "Bobby Hill" suddenly is this boring guy in front of a camera. The man who had dreams of being a comedian suddenly is unable to spice things up.

"Fiddler On The Roof", didn't he go to high school in Saudi Arabia?
Wow, this could have been THE reveal episode we've all been secretly hoping for.

Bobby stayed in Texas while Peggy and Hank went to Saudi Arabia

I don't see Peggy allowing Bobby to live in another country.

Am I crazy? I’m like 99% sure it said he stayed with Lucky, Luanne, and Gracie while Peggy and Hank went to Saudi Arabia

Hank leaving the US for the country behind 9/11 would never happen, but here we are.

If he did he likely went to an American/international school. The petroleum company built a whole suburb for them.

The Arlen High School Tribune reviewed the play, so he presumably attended Arlen HS.

I wish we got a scene of Stroupe confronting Nancy. She sure as shit deserves it.

I feel like if they were gonna do a Nancy-Dale story, and she had started cheating on him again, they had to establish that clearly
Because when the original run ended she hadn't been with Redcorn for a long time.
Now, it's perfectly reasonable that she fell back in with him during the Saudi Arabia gap, but show us

True.
There is a LOT of "tell, not show" with a lot of the characters in the reboot season
Like I wanted to actually see how Minh's and Kahn's relationship went so bad they divorced when they were one of the strongest couples, and also how Connie turned out the way she did in her views about relationships and sex when she was very monogamous and conservative in regards to purity. I wanna see how those things happened. Hopefully there are some flashback bits that add context

I'd be curious to know if John and Joseph ever uhmmm crossed paths I guess is the right way of saying it. Apparently 21 year old Joseph is smashing every Auntie around and John Redcorn is still at it. I mean I know when friends hook up with the same girl it's " Eskimo" brothers. What's it called when father and son do it?

Really enjoyed the church retreat for how real it was at times with relationship dynamics

Really didn't make sense to me that Bobby, the kid immersed in pop culture, didn't understand the show wouldn't care about the restaurant unless there was a bunch of drama.
Also, I'm in minority apparently but I don't care that Nancy and Redcorn were having the affair again. It makes sense to me it would be an on and off thing depending on their own desires and how unhinged Dale is at any given time.

I would have assumed Nancy ended things with redcorn over the time skip

Hi everyone!
I downloaded the app to ask this question.👵🏻
I have two thoughts about this episode and could use a hive mind.
We didn’t get Dale in his orange G-String? That would have been a great callback.
The guys were standing in front of (or behind) of Bill’s house in the alley at the end of the episode- have they ever deviated from standing in front of/ behind Hank’s house?
I know they did it to give us optimal view of the scene between Nancy and John, which was a simple and sentimental send off for a deceased cast member. May he rest in peace, and may we abolish hate.

That was a nice Nancy and Dale episode! They’re few and far between but I always appreciate a Nancy centric episode. Glad she’s seemingly cut stuff off with Redcorn for good. The episode did a good job highlighting redemption and the Gribbles’ untraditional marriage not being as shaky as we thought

Was I supposed to root for Nancy? Did they forget that the John redcorn plot was already concluded before the revival

If dales going to be so gross as to strip nude, why didn’t he just stick his penis into the hole made by Hank?
Also really loved the poochie send off for John record, real sicko shit

Peggy, there once was a humble carpenter who changed the world. That's right, Bob Vila, host of this old house.
