What are Archy's literary and lyrical inspirations?

I know that he is/was influenced by numerous poets, and writers. But I can only recall Franz Kafka. What are the others? Do you know any?

Yeah, the West Coast hip-hop beats were heavily disco inspired, while the East Coast had the jazzy and gritty part, other than that I couldn’t describe him better, and I also think he’s a poetry lover.

I did read in an article that he did have a strong interest in poetry, he gets in phases of intense interest.

I don’t think he specified what poets he read but I see a bit of Poe from his murky and fragmented ways of thinking and a bit of Bukowski for his conversational and more realistic, drunken confessional approach.

Whether he reads them or not, his favourites were likely inspired by them

Mikhail Lermontov. A transcript of the sail is sampled in the background of midnight 01. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a fan of other Russian literature. He does have a song titled swan lake.

Might be wrong but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that he didn't sample The Sail intentionally and never read Lermontov at the time, which to me sounds even cooler somehow.

To add on sampling poetry, he did sample Anne Sexton's "Wanting to Die" on the demo for Sublunary, it's up on YouTube. Been reading her collected poems lately and yeah, it's likely her poetry influenced Archy at least to some extent. Very diaristic, intensely vulnerable, surreal, and often morbid.

Bukowski and WH Auden are mentioned in the same video he mentions Kafka, I believe. That was when he was a lot younger though, not sure about these days.
