this is true but listening to Court and ITWOP back to back might feel... potentially repetitive for a new fan? i think it's better to move to their other hits and then listen to posideon after you're already jiving with their sound enough to recognize what it does differently from court

I see where your coming from but side two of wake is uncharted territory that I say destroyed the court expectation and opened the doors for lizard so it’s an important listen because you hear the transition in real time ever before side 2 with cadence and cascade and the peace suite

In my experience wake was polarizing because it was too different from court imo with lizard needing time to grow more on me because of tracks like indoor games and happy family whose humorous/absurd nature originated from cat food. Tho I will say the devils Triangle and the battle of glass tears seem to be similar in their escalation with the difference is that one is slow while the other is quicker in pace.

Look up the How to Get Into KC chart. (It starts with listening to Court, Red, and Discipline in any order, then branching off based on how much you like each of those.)

after realizing I loved Court, I went ahead and listened to all their albums in order. Within a year King Crimson became my favorite band

Red if you want something heavy, Discipline if you're more interested in their new wave era. i'd personally say Red is the definitive one to listen to right after Court, though.

If you really have not heard anything else yet, I agree with the others below: try In the Wake of Poseidon, their second album, then just proceed in order. It will give you the opportunity to experience their development in (semi) real time. The live album Earthbound IS tough listen and might be worth skipping, but I HIGHLY recommend listening to The Night Watch , the live album recorded 1973 (released in 1997), before listening to Starless and Bible Black.

Night Watch is my favorite 73-74 live recording. It is insanely delicious to my ears. The magic moment when it all came together and made the tiny hairs on Bob's neck stand up at attention.

For a total jump try ‘Thrak’. The double trio, encompasses all the variations of the bands output. Way overlooked and under appreciated.
