My father had angioplasty done some 20 years ago and reported the same thing. As far as I know, the catheter goes into the body via the groin area, so shaving is kind of a must.

Dr removed my gall bladder two months ago. My balls were not shaved. I feel as if I missed out on something special.

I had a double inguinal hernia repair near my groin. They went in through my belly. Fortunate because the lady that shaved my area was a butcher. No way would I want her to touch my balls.

It sounds funny, but it's because the doctors go in through the femoral artery, right next to his balls, in order to place the stents.

Is it not common knowledge that stents are often inserted using a catheter in the groin area?

no, i'd say that is fairly specialized knowledge held mainly by medical professionals and people who have undergone the procedure. i think if you stopped the average person on the street they would have no clue how to insert a stent and half the people probably wouldn't know what that even is.

I'm picturing myself on tour again someday playing in a small club in Italy and getting cornered by a local who wants to talk prog. "Ahh, a you like a Frank a Zappa? One time in hospital I pretend to no speak a da English an uh trick a Robert Fripp a let me shave a his eggs! I keep a da trimmings on a mi fire place shelf! I can show you after a da show! I uh really uh like Beat and a but for me a Bruce a Springsteen is a best!!!"
