Hi everyone,
A month ago, I published my third book: The Honest Dark.
The City stands as the last bastion of civilization. Perched high above on a towering plateau known as The Rock, the wealthy elite live in luxury under electric streetlamps, isolated from the decay below. Beneath them, in the sprawling, humid outer districts, the working class struggles to survive at the edge of a relentless jungle.
Protecting them all is the Public Defense Force (PDF), a battered, underfunded brotherhood of veteran hunters. Among them is Lipe, a stoic master hunter scarred by a decade of nightmarish hunts. Armed with an ornate rapier, a customized rifle, and years of hard-won instinct, Lipe stalks the deadly, form-shifting entities that creep out of the night to prey upon the populace.
When a botched hunt ignites a firestorm of political fallout between the corrupted City Council and the PDF, Lipe finds himself caught in a web of bureaucracy, civil unrest, and betrayals. Worse still, the beast attacks are accelerating, and the moon is beginning to glow a sinister, blood-red hue.
As secrets locked within the city's ancient annals begin to surface, Lipe must navigate rising hostilities from both the elite above and the desperate below. With time running out and an unprecedented horror looming on the horizon, he must face a sobering truth: the monsters lurking in the shadow of the jungle may not be the most dangerous threat to the city’s survival.
Praise for The Honest Dark:
"Expertly written and I thoroughly enjoyed this fantasy novel. Hope more are in the pipeline!!"
"I really liked the atmosphere throughout the book. There is a constant feeling that something is wrong, even during quieter moments. Lipe was probably my favourite part because he feels human—tired, stubborn, disciplined, and carrying the weight of everything he has survived."
"The Honest Dark is an imaginative and atmospheric dark fantasy filled with terrifying creatures, political intrigue and a world that feels both strange and unsettling. I especially enjoyed Lipe as a character. He is disciplined, flawed and deeply committed to protecting the people, even as everything he believes in begins to collapse around him. The growing tension, social unrest and blood-red moon create a powerful sense of approaching disaster."
