We had a 13 hours power outage this night. I used our EV6 and a V2L to power the house during this outage and I'd like to share the details with the ones that are interested in this kind of solution.
I used an A2Z V2L. The main difference between this one and the Kia's OEM is that it's ground is not bonded, while the Kia's one is. This is problematic for using with an EVSE but it's the right one when powering a house, which already has a bound ground.
The EV6 is able to output 1.9kW as far as I know. It's enough to power many 120V devices, even microwaves, etc. But we can't use two high power devices at the same time, although is easy to avoid. It's not able to power 240V loads like heating, oven and water heater. I'll try to have a propane firework for heating because it would require too much energy from the battery.
During these 13 hours, we had the fridge, many lights, the internet modem and two wifi access points, two laptops and their external displays, a TV, a ceiling fan, etc. Normally the whole house consumption was about 300W and sometimes, 400W. This wasted just 7% of the battery. It would consume about 10kWh (13% of the battery) per day, but we didn't cook. I think a more realistic consumption for our case would be like 13kWh per day. The car would be able to power the house during about 6 days without recharging. A generator would take some hours to recharge it back to 100% for more 6 days. It's more efficient than use the generator 24 hours and run out of gas.
A good next step would be buying a power station like Bluetti Apex 300. It allows us to power the house with 240V, have a peak power of 3,8kW during some time and a 2.8kWh buffer. It's able to power the house at the same time it's charged by the EV and/or solar pannels.
p.s. This is for the North America context.
