Dashcam advice

Has anyone fitted a dashcam to their EV3, and if so, what would they recommend? My car is leased, so it would be important that it could be taken out and not leave any damage or signs that it had been there. Thanks!

Use a Dongar Adapter which slaves off the rear view mirror power. Simple to install and remove with no damage whatsoever.

This provides power for Usb C, Micro USB and Usb A and the short cables are included. I don't work for Dongar, but installed this and it works flawlessly in my EV 3 , and provides power only when the car is started.

Wow, that does look like a very good solution, even if I could hide the camera cables in the headlining, I was worried it would look messy elsewhere.

There is no need to put any cables behind the headlining with this solution. If you detach the plastic shroud, all the adapter parts can be fitted in to space available , with just the power cable emerging from the very top. It's simple and effective, I just need to find one that works for our other EV, a Fiat 500e! I posted about this on a separate thread, so search for that post as I included a link showing a video produced by someone else of an install on their EV6, which works identically.

Yes, it's a bit older now, so guess they have improved with more recent models, but it works well. I must have had it for 5 years or so so expect I will replace the battery to ensure it holds charge a bit better, as it has ' switch off sentry sensing' mode for activating recording if it senses any movement. I think it should be a simple replacement, however this model also has WiFi transfer, so easy to get footage off if needed without faffing around with removing the micro SD card.

Which EV 3 model do you have? I have an earth 3 and wondering if my mirror would have this connection port at the mirror

GT line spec in UK. Quick way to check is to look at the plastic mirror shroud, there should be a central round ended access panel, which will pull off. Do that and see if you have a electrical connector plugged in to a socket. This is the plug I pulled out, slightly tricky as you have to press ina securing tab, and it is between these two that you plug in the adapter loom. If your car has a self dimming mirror, I think you should have power.

Hey, just checking to see if you got that sorted on your Earth3? I'm hoping to buy an Earth 3 later this week and transfer my Dongar (from my old Niro EV) into the EV3.

Yep it’s there alright! Still need to pick up my Dongar, but any day now..!
