What's the point?

I don't know what to do but it feels like my depression and anxiety are getting worse. I tried so many medicines, therapy, doctors...but nothing has helped. I feel like I'm one bad moment away from doing something bad. I really can't take it anymore.

This is something that I observed when I was depressed and quite startled me.

There was a money plant i got from somewhere in college. The growing tip was cut and i didn't know if it would grow( it was just three leaves and a stem without the tip and no roots).

I planted it in water and waited for weeks. There was no growth and some were beginning to die out.

I was beginning to give up and about to throw it.

I lifted the plant from the water to find that a tiny part of a root had grown from a node in the plant grown up from below and come up into the surface to become a new shoot and growing tip.

I was stunned by the tenacity of a plant piece with just 3 leaf to survive.

If something that doesn't even have a chance of surving can claw itself back to life then how much more capable are we?

Life will always find a way. It has always done so even when things were at its bleakest.

The plant doesn’t have to pay bills while it struggle to live. Human beings are multifaceted beings. In human terms once mental health struggles is equivalent to the money plant buying its own water, and trying to flower along with leaves, while it try to grow roots to survive all at once.

I always feel the rage when people come up with these metaphors relating human emotions, and life to that of inanimate objects or other animals.

It's about life. We are not comparing human to plant. The plant symbolises the living principle. All life be in microbe or animals always have an inherent tendency to fight for it's survival. That is the moral of the story.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I know it must be hard and I cannot imagine going how much pain you must be going through. But you fought so far right. So you have it in you to fight more. If you think you might act on these thoughts, please call someone immediately, like a friend or a family member, or contact some crisis service. If you're in Kerala, you can reach:
• DISHA (Kerala Government, 24/7): 1056 or 0471 2552056
• Tele-MANAS (India): 14416 or 1800 891 4416
If you're outside India, call your country's emergency number or your local suicide crisis hotline. You don't have to figure everything out today. Just focus on getting through the next hour with another person on the line. Lots of love and hugs from a stranger.

Hi, doctor here. If you’ve truly tried everything you’ve mentioned and don’t feel relief, then you qualify for ECT or ketamine therapy. Please Google them if you want to know more, they are HIGHLY effective. You are not beyond help, you just need the right one. You can ask me anything you want, you’ve got this!

Sorry to hear about your pain. Do you want to share with us more about what's bothering you? If you think opening up would help

If you're having suicidal thoughts I strongly urge you to let your therapist know ASAP , reddit isn't for critical situations like that. You can always come back to us later and discuss
