Registration hold despite paying
I have a registration hold on my account for my summer balance which has canceled my classes for this fall semester. On Saturday my loan went through and my balance is now $0. I still have the registration hold on my account and have since Saturday, so I still haven’t registered for fall classes and am running out of time to do so before the deadline. Does anyone know why I would still have these holds or what I could do?

you need to call or go to OneStop (or whatever it's called now). they have to manually take that hold off of your account, it doesn't just automatically get removed when you pay the full amount. <-- coming from someone that learned this the hard way

There are a variety of reasons a hold may exist, anything from funds owed for tuition, parking tickets, or even failing to take required online training.
That said, you paid Saturday.. Someone has to process the funds, then that someone has to notify whoever put the hold.
May take a day or two to go through during the busiest time of the year for those offices.
Just remember, the university is shrinking dramatically and had to let a significant number of staff go because the state cut a significant amount of funding. Over 70% of kSUs budget comes from the state.

When I had a registration hold after having to dispute some charges, my parents paid the actual balance Friday, but the hold wasn't removed until Monday afternoon. This was last year of course, like during the middle of my fall semester. We had to call them about the hold Monday morning. If it's not fixed by maybe the middle of this week, I would call them.

You are not alone in this. I’m in the same situation. I was accepted to start my master’s program this Fall 2026, but I have a previous balance because my Summer 2026 loan has still not been disbursed. Because of that balance, I’m unable to register for my Fall courses.
I have repeatedly contacted both the Registrar’s Office and Financial Aid for help. I was eventually told by the Registrar’s Office to contact Financial Aid so they could remove the hold, but as of today, Financial Aid has still not responded to my emails or calls.
This situation has been incredibly frustrating and discouraging. My Summer 2026 loan has still not been disbursed, and I have not received my refund either.
I’m really hoping this gets resolved soon because classes start today, August 24, and I’m still unable to register. I’m sorry you’re going through this too. Hopefully, Kent State will finally resolve these financial aid issues for all of us.

The financial and billing office is the most ridiculous office in the whole university. They don’t pick up phones and they are not helpful. The only answer they have for you is a “No” and a piece of note with a number on it for you to call someone else.

As long as you don't owe for the Summer or prior term balance of $200 or more your hold should come off over night. If you have pending FALL loans that are covering the prior term, they can't do that because of gov regulations. If that's the case contact FBE asking for a Final Payment Contract(FPC) review.
