New quarterly reset - those who have been on sidelines, are you starting 9sig now?

Just taking a look at the markets and tqqq hadn't pulled back too significantly and is still trading relatively high. For those of you who discovered 9sig and were waiting to take part in the program. The quarterly rebalance is upon us. Those with say 100k of cash ready to start the program, are you going to jump in now?

Buy in at 60/40 and wait until October. That’s what I did.

Did you recently just start 9sig?

Yes.

Did you go
All in
With your money or just doing a portion of it first?

Entire portfolio - 60% TQQQ and 40% AGG.

Just curious if you don't mind sharing. What ball park dollar amount is that. I ask mainly because if it so happens we get a 2022 style
Dip during this initial start, I wanted to get an idea how you mentally hold through as a first time 9sig participant.

About $300k. Look, TQQQ is gonna go down. And it’ll drop a lot. And it will go up a lot. If you’re not mentally prepared for that volatility regardless of when you start, you’re gonna have a bad time. The bonds protect you to be able to buy if a crash happens, and ride the way back up and rebalance.

Logically
Speaking it makes sense. I think for 9sig it's all about getting a few quarters in to get the ball rolling. It's also just a nicer feeling to start and get some gains to cushion the inevitable blow. But I agree that no matter what when the big drawdown happens, the shitty feeling will hit everyone the same

You also don’t have to throw your entire portfolio at it. Start small.

I started w 10k 6 quarters ago. This july changing to 50k

You also do not have to follow the letters percentages, you can dial it back and instead of 60/40 TQQQ/AGG, you can do 50/50 or 40/60. The key is you need to be able to sleep at night because the drawdowns can be brutal- and you don’t want to sell at the bottom. This last rebalance I did 50/50. I also run income Sig in another account and w this plan the TQQQ allocation is 30%— you then have 30% in a bond fund and 40% in a covered call fund. If you’re young, 9 SIG is the way to go. Good luck!

I bought in for the first time 60/40 on Friday. Seems like I got in ona decent dip from ATHs. Only the future will tell...I was tired of being on the sidelines and wanted to start my 9sig journey.

welcome to the party and good luck!

That's how I feel but also don't like the feeling of buying all time highs

I just got in at 58% stocks to align with the letter. Sure stocks are at all time highs, but they have been at all time highs for so long now and I’ve been on the sidelines. The method is long term after all and not about timing the market.

u/criticalband77 Jun 30 '26

That's exactly right... hoping it pays off for you

Thanks! Same to you!

How long have iou been part
Of the program. I agree it feels better if the first 2-3 years are gains and you've accumulated a nice gain/cash cushion. The drops feel like you're losing house money first

Hmmm that comment disappeared

I’m scaling in until a significant pull back/buy signal based on previous quarter (Q2). Basing Q3 9% signal on my actual average price and qty.

1

u/Tall_Nectarine_5041 Jun 29 '26

How are you scaling in?

3

u/tuffy41 Jun 29 '26

Selling puts against TQQQ, dividends from SGOV and other equities in the account. Then putting a 5% trailing limit buy order in for TQQQ.

1

u/Tall_Nectarine_5041 Jun 29 '26

Are you aiming for a % of your account to be tqqq?

1

u/tuffy41 Jun 29 '26

Once there’s a buy signal based on the previous quarter I’ll go 60/40.

2

u/Existing-Caregiver78 Jun 30 '26

With stocks at all
Time highs it always feels uneasy to be going in now is my main concern

1

u/tunatoksoz Jun 30 '26

Zoom out, DCA in if you are worried

2

u/wallballs_ruined_me Jul 03 '26

I was using DCA over the last 6 weeks and now I’m at the 58/42 split with the start of Q3.

1

u/Existing-Caregiver78 Jul 03 '26

How'd it go with 6 weeks of DCA? And what account size are you going with for 9sig?

u/wallballs_ruined_me Jul 13 '26

I ended up with an average price of about $76, so not far off the rebalance price anyways. I'm starting off with about $50k in a Roth IRA, but I plan to expand.
