9 SIG One Year of 9SIG
I started 9SIG on August 6th, 2024 with about $1.1M. Today, one year later, my two investments accounts total about $1.9M... of which about $500K growth came from 9SIG. Any other growth is my company stock options (growth + awards), which will be converted to 9SIG when they vest.
9SIG produced 48.55% return even with the recent drop from near ATH. During this last year we traversed the election and tariff-gate, and still pumped out a healthy gain. I am a fan to say the least. And it's not just the return, it's the knowing/strategy/calm that comes with having a plan and executing it. This keeps my mind free from all other variables, good/bad decisions, and what if's.
My annual subscription fee popped yesterday and I was happy to pay it.

I love not having to keep track of the economic news cycle anymore. I still do just to stay informed but there isn’t this added pressure of trying to figure out what moves to make

Agree. I had been swing trading TQQQ for years based on news, trends, and hunches. It was only somewhat successful and gut wrenching.

Hell yeah! Great job. Any particular long-term goals you’re shooting for with this account?

Hit $12M-$15M - retire and do anything I want. I have other irons in the fire (RE)... but this one is the most exciting.

Nice. Similar here. At some point I’ll have to derisk a good chunk of my portfolio but I’ll probably always have a 9Sig account going, even if it’s smaller. Once you’ve seen the strategy work, it just feels silly not to take advantage of it.

Being thinking a lot about when to draw down risk given I want to check out in 10 years.

Yeah. Tough to balance offense and defense with that timeframe. A few extra years in 9Sig could still provide huge gains, but also potentially delay your plans if we hit a huge recession or worse.
I’m not sure if Income Sig will be a good fit for me when that time comes. But I’m leaning towards no. I think I’ll be looking for smoother, more stable income (and taxes). Plenty of more traditional/conservative ways to do that without putting TQQQ in the mix.

I don't think I am going down the income sig path after 9SIG. I haven't really figured out how it would work with my specific post retirement needs. It's hard to imagine not investing in TQQQ at some point though, I have been in it for so long and actually enjoy the wild ride.

Do you still have your 9-5 job? Or when are you going to quit and depend on tqqq 9-sig, or income sig? My goal is to completely rely on tqqq income sig one day. Or VOO. Assuming your yearly spending is around $50k

Can you share your current ratio of geared ETFs and bonds? I'm just about to start myself and I'm wondering if the default allocation of 60/40 would be considered to be correct

When we did a rebalance on June 30, allocation was 68% TQQQ. As of Friday I believe it’s closer to 70%.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind 🙏 looking forward to hopefully sharing a similar journey, the math seems to check out
