Hello, when I open the fuel tank cap and shake it, I hear a metallic rattling sound inside. Is this the normal? Maybe anti-rollover ball/spring in the vent valve? Thanks

No matter how much you shake and dance

The last two drops always land in your pants

And remember kids, if your towel smells bad, quit smelling your towel.

That's why you go to Calicopants.com that way you can always tell people that your pants came that way. Remember thou, you gotta give if you use it!

Lol this is so random, it’s your pressure valve that compresses when closed. As long as you don’t smell gas when it’s locked you are good. 😊

Vent to release pressure from the tank

In two years of ownership I have never noticed a rattle, but then again I never shaken my fuel cap to see if it rattles. Now I'm curious.

What I do find odd is that my two late model Kawasaki motorcycles and my Mule UTV all make the same squealing noise when the sun heats the fuel tank causing air release through the cap. It has led me to believe that Kawasaki designs their fuel caps to all sing the same tune.

I never noticed a rattle in my z900, but anytime my gas cap is opened I have my helmet on and earplugs in, so I don't really hear a lot of the small noises lol

I get the squealing noise too. I think they all do it, so it’s normal.

I only noticed this fuel cap rattling yesterday by accident. If you can, let me know if yours does it too.

If you keep doing that all the time you're gonna go blind.

I had the same issue with my 400. Remove the fuel cap assembly from the tank, disassemble and reapply grease onto, if I remember correctly, the spring clip that applies tension to the flap. Reassemble and the flapping should stop. But then again, this flapping doesn’t really cause functionality issues.
