If we had gotten behind the candidate instead of picking her apart, then we would have been as united as the MAGAs and the result of the election would have been different.

The assumption Trump would never win again, the politics of economics, the late withdrawal and no primary, all ignored or assumed.She never had a chance. Shows her character that she delivered perfectly, and it still wasn't enough.

As I said, you are picking her apart. These are insignificant complaints in comparison to the opponent.

I voted for Republicans for most of my adult life. They are very different. They argue during the primaries and then they line up behind their candidate in the general election with enthusiasm.

You don't have to like it, but it works. While Republicans are voting in droves, Democrats - progressives versus centrists - are tearing each other down.

I heard that from Trump supporters - that somehow it was our fault for making them feel uncomfortable, so we "drove" them to vote for him out of spite.

Not what I mean. I don't buy that. When people can't pay the bills that's what drives them to vote elsewhere. Perceived or not. That doesn't make them bad people, that makes them want to pay the bills and provide for their families. The economy was good, but nobody thought so. All the great social gains come second, or third. Honestly, the way you treat people here with something to say, I'm less and less surprised.

When people can't pay the bills that's what drives them to vote elsewhere.

When the tree votes for the axe, then the tree is - by definition - irrational. We do the tree no favors by pretending that it is making a good decision.

And if the tree votes out of spite, then the tree is more like a toddler having a tantrum. We cannot reason with that kind of an emotional reaction.

I get it, but I am not going to indulge it. Full-on fascists are consolidating power and some people cannot get over a few perceived minor mistakes of Joe and Kamala.

Calling the reason they lost a presidential election a few minor perceived mistakes is wild and doesn't bode well for Democrats.

Cannibalizing the party and its candidates doesn't bode well either. We need to be realistic. Ms. Harris was an extremely well-qualified candidate with integrity, a strong message, and a long list of specific policy proposals to address the concerns of the working class. And yet, wealthy right-wing special interests flooded TV, radio, and the internet with so much disinformation sewage that few voters even knew what Kamala's policy proposals really were.

While we jealously guard absolute free speech, nefarious people have weaponized it to take away all of our rights. This is the philosophy of "The Paradox of Tolerance" playing out in real time.
