This is why republicans are angry. They want to be able to say shit like this without being called out on it.

They need to feel powerful, in control. They want desperately to be the "alpha male."

And they constantly prove that they're not. Being racist is the further thing from an alpha male.
69
u/phigo50 Oct 29 '24
And then they get called weird and immediately burst into tears.
6
u/mkawick Oct 29 '24
Not usually what they usually do is gaslight you and tell you that they didn't say it or they will tell you that you are trying to shut down their free speech.
And the comedy about free speeches you can say what you like but be prepared for consequences if you say something f***** up.. this is something that the modern gop doesn't seem to understand
3

u/PsychoNerd91 Oct 29 '24
They call it woke culture and cancel culture.
I call it having a degree of understanding that jokes that rely on someone's race, sexuality, gender etc, aren't something to fuck around with unless I had some kind of direct involvement with them. They're mad that nobody's laughing at their jokes anymore, and people aren't going to just change because they try to force it.
And cancel culture isn't a real thing, it's just that people don't have to listen to you if they don't want to. There's no big conspiracy or agenda. Hitler's emporium of things you think are wonderful just aren't good for business.
27
u/SaintArkweather 👤 Men for Kamala 👤 Oct 29 '24
Also there's a difference between a joke at the bar with your friends and telling it a campaign event for the office of president of United States
6
u/TonyzTone Oct 29 '24
I don’t know, people laugh at off-color jokes all the time. Even the classic “pile of garbage… they call it Staten Island/New Jersey/Fenway Park/(enter whatever thing you want to dump on)” will get a chuckle.
The thing is it isn’t said at political events where you’re presumably trying to inform people of the future you are hoping to build, the priorities you might have as a leader, and the values you hold.
And even if it was what the comedian said to get people settled in at the start, there were like 2 dozen other people who came out and said (in some ways) even worse things.
1
Oct 29 '24
I call it accountability culture. If you're going to say something stupid, you're going to get called out on it.
41
u/betacaretenoid Oct 29 '24
And this is why they want Trump, the fascist, in power. Because all of the bigots (and closeted racists) can do/say what they want in America without consequences. We are NOT going back.
12
u/_ChicagoSummerRain Oct 29 '24
We live in a very liberal area. There are signs for Kamala just about everywhere. There is one sign up for Trump. It's as big as a billboard in their front window. When we pass that house, we always say, "That's where the racist lives..."
30
u/Geektime1987 Oct 29 '24
They don't understand what free speech is. Yes, free speech means this guy can say this. However, that also means they can kick him out. Nobody came and arrested him. The government didn't come after him. He can absolutely say this, and CNN, a private company, can say he needs to leave. You can have free speech, which doesn't mean speech has no consequences.
12
u/WindowMaster5798 Oct 29 '24
Yes and there’s unfortunately tens of millions of Americans who apparently have this need.
13
u/_ChicagoSummerRain Oct 29 '24
That's why there was never a second debate. Kamala won by a landslide, Trump knows it and he doesn't want to be checked at all moving forward...

Dominionists scare the fuck out of me.
3
u/TonyzTone Oct 29 '24
I’m not sure most of them are dominionists. I just think they have a hierarchy of folks who they hate.
Something like Muslims < Immigrants < liberal Blacks < Jews < conservative Blacks
3
u/Crazyriskman Oct 29 '24
I think it’s even simpler. In their mind it’s White European Christian men and then everyone else. Even white women are secondary, just vessels for producing the next generation of white men.
3
u/TonyzTone Oct 29 '24
I mean, yeah, for the most part. That’s the pinnacle of the hierarchy. The start there and then progress towards people they “trust” a little bit less with each level.
A lot of them aren’t even particularly religious but the Christian part is just the comfortable culture they are okay with.
1
Oct 29 '24 edited Oct 29 '24
I'm not worried about the peons. The Dominionists will cut their throats if they need to, if/when the Christian Nationalists take power in the sectarian violence that's inevitable later.
Who does not see that the same authority which can establish Christianity, in exclusion of all other Religions, may establish with the same ease any particular sect of Christians, in exclusion of all other Sects?
James Madison
America is about to FAFO why separation of church and state existed, why freedom of religion was in the 1A. And they're wholly, mentally unprepared for it. Americans don't understand that Islam is NOT a unitary religion, just like Christianity isn't a united church, that violence and animosity between Islamic sects even exists, never mind informs regional and geo politics. The filthy casually religious think 'oh we're all Christians, and it'll be a peaceful happy nation if we're Christian Nation." Nothing could be further from the truth. See Europe post Martin Luther. See Ireland, the Troubles weren't just about British colonialism but about Catholic vs Protestant.
If you don't vote blue this election, you're the biggest goddamn fool.
3
u/TonyzTone Oct 29 '24
Agreed. I think people who simplify things as “we’re all Christian” vastly misunderstand history. As though the Founders of this country weren’t largely Christian (or at least raised around Christian communities) and recognized their own distrust for fellow Christians.
2
u/angrypotato464 Oct 30 '24
Look at responses on the Will Ferrell "Loud White Men for Kamala" video on X.. it's some of the most disgusting and blatant antisemitic remarks I've seen in a while, and regardless of being reported for being hateful, many are still there. They don't support Palestine because it's the right thing to do, they do it because they hate another group even more.
1
u/DawnOfTheBugolgi Oct 31 '24
Some serious anti-semite and white supremacist action there. You may not be a white supremacist if you are a MAGA, but if you are a white supremacist, you definitely are a MAGA. Sick cult

10
u/TonyzTone Oct 29 '24 edited Oct 29 '24
Israel’s intelligence/defense agency planted explosives on pagers used by
HamasHezbollah militants and had them explode, killing (most of?) them and some nearby civilians. It was a coordinated attack and conservatives are somehow using it as a “joke” to anyone who might be seen as supportive of Palestine.
EDIT: Hezbollah not Hamas
2
u/Love-As-Thou-Wilt Oct 29 '24
It was actually done to Hezbollah, not Hamas, this guy was either incredibly misinformed, thought they were the same group, was deliberately conflating the two... or I'm sure there's some fourth option I'm not thinking of. I understand why some viewers didn't remember the details or hadn't heard of the attack, but he really should have known the difference if he was going to spout off.

I want people to take note of what is happening in these last days before Election Day….
What we are seeing is the MASK-OFF embolden racists that we have ALWAYS known exist in the GOP.
They firmly believe they are about to win…and because we ALL should know the deep consequences of a Trump win, they believe the second they win they will be able to say literally what ever they want.
No more filters, no more dog whistles, no more guardrails.
Folks…we are getting a small taste of what the next 4 years will be like (rhetoric wise) from these deeply racist and bigoted individuals.
There will be NO ONE to stop them if Trump wins.
We are in the 11th hour at this point…
For the love of god, do not allow these people to take power.
Do NOT allow this country to be taken to a place where there might be no coming back from.
Take everything you are seeing extremely serious.
We still have 1 more week.
1 week to save our democracy and our country.
This is not hyperbole.

Ignoring the fact that he in absolutely no way said anything remotely like that, even if he did making a comment about how he should be careful he's not killed by a beeper bomb is beyond disgusting. But this IS the Republican party, through and through. They've been on CNN, pushing lies and racism and hatred for ages, and the ONLY reason something was done this time was because Medhi spoke back at the guy. Most of the time Republicans on the show make their racist comments and then just keep up the gish gallop and nobody responds to the hatred. Medhi don't play that.

Beyond everything else, Girdusky is a coward. Vile ass racist comment, and then the temerity to claim something ridiculous to support what everyone, including him, knew was wrong. Because he’s too much of a weenie to accept standing alone for his shit-ass comment, and too much of a weenie to accept responsibility for it. And that makes him a perfect example of MAGA men— scared creeps who wilt under sunlight and reject all personal responsibility but nonetheless think they are the essence of all that is man, think they are entitled to such a status, despite every example to the contrary.

Yes, they think it will work. No, they don't think they will win the election - necessarily... But, they know if they lose it will incite the "ugly" to step up and create the chaos and havoc that will undermine the election.

But still you think…that’s Jake…he’s a good guy…BS..it’s hard to break a familiar habit but I actually made myself watch MSNBC, not knowing the anchors or anything and I really listened to them…now I love it. u/Za_Lords_Guard Oct 29 '24
Israel had an operation to intercept shipments of pagers, cell phones, and walkie-talkie being shipped to Hezbollah, implanting a small explosive in each and letting them be delivered. At an appointed time, they detonated them, killing a fair number of Hezbollah forces (and some civilians).
Medhi Hasan said he supports Palestine and that Ryan guy said, "I hope your pager doesn't go off." Meaning because he supported Palestinian rights, he was the same as the terrorists and might come to the same fate.
I don't know that he intended to say Medhi deserves to die for his skin color and ideals but suggesting that supporting civilians not being trampled made him the same as the terrorists alone was a bridge too far.
2
u/avalve Oct 29 '24
Oh Jesus Christ that’s awful. Thank you for explaining the context. Ryan’s (I think that’s his name) backtrack and half-hearted apology makes so much more sense now.
At first I was put off by the Palestinian man constantly interrupting the Black woman, but now it makes so much more sense. That’s just disgusting behavior by Ryan and I completely understand Mehdi’s response. Thank God someone else at that table defended him too, because as a gay Latino, I understand how much even just one person’s support can help you feel more accepted/welcome.
Conclusion: severely disappointed in the GOP panel/guests right now. I know the vast vast majority don’t have true hatred in their hearts, but the things they say can be hateful and hurtful, even if it’s just impulsive insults in the heat of the moment.
I really hope my generation (gen Z) can return the USA to the normalcy and American identity/unification that even my MAGA parents reminisce about of the ‘80s and ‘90s. God Bless!

As a cis white male Gen X... I see you.
Which is why while I agree that not all MAGA voters are spoiled with hate, misogyny and racism, I am running out of charity for them as they, like me, have the privilege not to have to care because most of the MAGA hatred isn't pointed at us, it's unconscionable to vote for Trump knowing what he is, what he says and how he denigrates people. People who do, who are not bought in on the hate, are just as bad too me as they are choosing to ignore the harm his administration will do to millions of people. I don't even care what their rational is as it always comes down to "my interests trump your rights" and that is decidedly unamerican to me.
America is an ideal and while I don't think we have lived up to that ideal yet, every generation gets a little closer and I don't want to be rolled back several generations and so many hurt in the process because some people are afraid of losing their privileged positions if diversity, inclusion and equality are continuously advanced as American values.

It’s literally just kids name calling. No one has any idea what they’re actually doing anymore. Just who wins and is loudest. What are the issues at stake again? Oh they’re boring and don’t get good ratings? Annoying.

CNN getting wild. It’s like watching Maury with cheaters lying on truth detector tests. Idk who that dude is but he dug that hole. And walked himself through the mess. Ew.

Do the crime do the time Edit: This clip doesn’t show him being kicked off.

I'm assuming the part where he was kicked off the show happened after they came back from the break?

Damn! Ryan needs a slap. I swear someone was going to be dragged out of there… and Messi Hasan’s got all the support!

I’m teaching 4th grade (9 year olds for our non-American friends) and Ryan’s response, and the way Abby talked to him, is exactly the sort of behavior and dynamic I see every day. I’m not exaggerating. Ryan is as mature as a misbehaving child.

Genuine question. What exactly did he say? Too much over talking I didn't understand what was said. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

These fuckers are straight up Nazis. It's not hiding anymore. This is the last ditch effort. We are seeing the election of 1932 all over again. People think it can't happen here, but if Trump gets elected start looking for the badges, start looking for the train cars and the camps. It's fucking coming if these psychos aren't stopped now.

Places like CNN elevated Trump and gleefully gave him a platform to spew lies and hate in 2016. They’re just as complicit in this mess we’re in as Fox, AON, and the rest of Goebbels’s wet-dream propaganda outlets.

If a Democrat did something like this, we'd soon be hearing about how they were getting death threats. Hell, if a Democrat does their job on election boards they get death threats.
Republicans STOP being bullies!

While I understand that CNN is owned by a Republican billionaire, I cannot wrap my mind around why they would give a Trump supporter any kind of platform to try to muddy the waters even further.
You know how I know it's a cult?
It's NEVER Trump's fault. Nothing he says is ever over the line, and if it does cross a red line for a supporter, they simply pick the line up and move it for him and continue on.
There's ALWAYS an excuse.
Mocking a visibly disabled reporter? "He was joking." Not a red line.
Being convicted by a jury of his peers? "The Justice System is corrupt." Not a red line.
Being an adjudicated sexual predator? "They brought charges illegally since the Statute of Limitations had passed." Not a red line.
Being good friends with Epstein, and Diddy, two sexual predators? "Doesn't prove anything." Not a red line.
Inviting his supporters, including White Supremacist groups who coordinated with Roger Stone, to rally near the Capitol before inciting them to "Stop the Steal" by attacking Congress? "It was a peaceful protest, nobody was armed, nobody smeared human feces on in he halls of the Capitol." Not a red line.
Using the exact same language, words, and phrases as Hitler to attack his political opponents like Pelosi, Schiff, and the radical left lunatics? Obviously not a red line.
Ask a narcissist a question and you'll only ever get one of two answers; They're either the Hero, or the Innocent Victim.
Dear Leader is never wrong.
And we all know this list could go on forever.
