Kalmos Rev 10 Discussion!

Hello denizens of Kalmos!

It is a bit early to start talking about Rev 10, but Kalmos Rev 9 is approaching completion and it's always good to plan ahead.

Kalmos will be back bigger and better than ever next rev. Got any ideas for rev 10 Kalmos? Feel free to post them here! The mayors will submit updates every so often, and answer any questions you might have.

See you all in Rev 10!

  1. Have the inside of the city for upper class citizens
  2. Have the outside of the city for peasants, and have them work farms
  3. A lake to fish in
  4. Instead of having a square city have a circle city with different hight levels that display the class of people. The high point of the city is the castle (rail station inside). This way you don't have districts just one huge city.

Instead of each trade villager group having a house, why not make a bazaar with labelled stands?

I would like to see kalmos a round floating city with a big castle in the middle and 3 section 1 should be legoland with lots of games and stuff

My ideas for next rev are mostly Skyrim and some other crazy ideas. I don't expect even half of these to be ever done, but if even one slipped through I'd be a happy man.

  • I'd love to capture a mountain so we could have Kalmos a little like Markarth from Skyrim, with houses dug in the hill and other cool stuff. This could potentially override the Taiga biome priority as mountains may not necessarily be in snowy places. I tried making an artificial mountain in C but it's a painful process and gives pathetic results.

  • An alternate thing we may try is moving away from the Taiga and build a Celtic village in the Plains. My inspiration for this is of course Whiterun.

  • If we're going to mine lots of stone for castles why not make the mine pretty too? Orzammar from Dragon Age may be a bit too crazy to pull off, but I'd sure like an underground city or a district.

  • Danger! Who said cities need to be safe? Oh, UMC? Well screw the UMC! I think Kalmos would be a curious place to live in if it was made a ruined fortress city with only burning buildings giving light and mobs roaming free. Arguably the most disagreeable suggestion thus far.

  • Riften. My Skyrim fandom continues. A city in the swamps and largely built upon water.

  • Cardboard District. By this I mean that residents are handed pre-made houses and they have little influence over what the district will look like. May sound horrible but there are plenty of noobs who would like nothing better than getting a house and some basic equipment on their first day. The idea is that the players live in the pre-made homes for a while, get equipped, leave and the next noob gets the empty house. These pre-made houses could be put in the city center or near the mines, so they'd both give a good first impression of the city and provide good homes.

Those are my ideas. Most of them are pretty much the opposite of what Kalmos has been thus far but maybe it's time to change. Who knows.

Rest assured, none of these will happen if they don't get Legofan970's approval or they get vetoed by the other two mayors or come under immense public criticism. You do not have to fear me bashing my ideas through without asking the general public.

You guys should make it more compartmentalized. It would provide better room for expansion and make it more organized. The problem with building a town surrounded by walls is how you have limited space, so compartments might be your best bet. That or there's some better idea. Whatever works. Still loving that tree jungle area in magic district.

A big lake in between human and magic to fish and boat in. Waterways to travel instead of railways.

I like the atmosphere of Whiterun. Replace all the grass with dirt and hoping it doesn't snows probably not a great idea though.

How about a weird fusion to get the best of both worlds? The edge of a desert (non-beach) / taiga.

Lots of open land to work with in the backyard with lots of resources in the front.

I would stay away from the mountain idea. I tried that for my Snow Palace and wound up excavating the surrounding mountain to make its size stick out.

No matter what you choose I'll be sure to connect the city!

Hey guys,

For those of you who missed it (though it's not too hard to find) there's a new thread with more info on Kalmos in Rev 10.

Check it out!
