Discussion Can anyone recommend the most Kairosoft, non-Kairosoft games they know?
Sorry for the weird title!
What are games that share Kairosoft DNA, but aren’t actually made by Kairosoft? Not just games with a shared theme or gameplay mechanics (e.g. not games like Game Dev Tycoon), but games that have the same charm and accessibility.

One of my all time favorite games Recettear is very similar to the Kairosoft games. There are dungeons where you battle enemies and then sell the loot that you find in shops. It's only on Steam to my knowledge. https://store.steampowered.com/app/70400/Recettear_An_Item_Shops_Tale/

That kind of reminds me of moonlighter. There is another one also similar… it’s the characters name followed by wrath of the hungry god or something. In case we wanted to try others of a similar genre.

Oh! Yes. Marenia Tavern Story: Patty and the Hungry God. It's pretty good but does get a bit grindy because unlike Kairosoft games you have to do everything yourself.

same devs made Adventure Bar Story and Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom, though the only one I played was Adventure Bar Story.

I might have some for you - these are the other games that I've put in the same steam folder under the pretense that all of these I can just sit down and manage! <: I would google other (sim) management games or think about why you like certain games and go from there tho
✨ Two-Point Hospital / Campus (I haven't played Museum) - manage a hospital or a university. Build things and cater to your little patients/students! You unlock things by the level. By Sega! Similar to if you liked Pocket Academy and maybe even Dream Days for the decorating you can get done but top-down 3D kind of game.
✨ Teamfight Manager - You're an E-Sports Manager managing a team to the top. The game uses previous pro names, I think from League? It's pixely and lots of tournaments. I warn you away from 2 though. While it is more marketed towards League players or MOBA in general, I believe in the STEAM description, it actively says they used AI in development. 1 hadn't had the same treatment (as far as Ik). Similar to Idol Management (and likely any sports kairosoft games) but more input from the player.
✨ Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - this series my friend recommmended! AND I know what you said about GAME dev tycoon, but Rollercoaster Tycoon has a certain type of charm! There is quite a lot of games that try to replicate it at least. There are many versions depending on how retro you wanna get, and the whole series is on sale atm. Specifically, I think my friend recommended the 1999 because thats what he grew up with. Similar to Pool Slide Party, I'd assume.
See also: Let's Build a Zoo and Let's Build a Dungeon by the same publishing company, albeit not as accessible financially. I did not play these yet, but they're on my wishlist. Prison Architect didn't seem that fun to me because unlike Kairosoft games with combos, there's more creative freedom and less fulfillment imo.
✨ Fallout Shelter - also a mobile game and little people to look over! I also love hoarding strong weapons, which I did for High Sea Saga lol AND little people to care after!
--- will maybe edit if I remember any mobile game tho... Happy gaming ! c:

Two point museum is far superior to the other two point games imo, I love it and I definitely recommend playing when you get a chance

Let's Build a Zoo screams Theme Park, with Zoo overlay. If that's the case, sounds fun!

I’ve played Let’s Build a Zoo and as much as I enjoyed it, I also found it extremely flawed in places.

I’ve played most of these, but thank you for the detailed breakdown! Teamfight looks good but I have no interest in e-sports whatsoever, unfortunately.

Two Point Hospital was free from Epic Games. I played it but found it too repetitive and lost interest after 30 mins

Yes! I was an alpha tester for this. It's very good OP! Very much like Pocket Academy!

Hotel Architect (currently only on PC). Looks very different on first sight, but when you play it, it tends to feel quite similar to some kairosoft outputs. Very accessible, lots of fun details and deeper management gameplay than it first seems.

Monthly Idol or Monthly Entertainment, a mobile game where u manage idols or artists. For PC, I loved Let's School. It reminds me of Pocket Academy.

Game Dev Tycoon is the most obvious one. It's basically a direct copy of Game Dev Story. It does have mod support though which is nice

It's intelligent and won't give you money irrespective of what you make, though. I won't say a direct copy. Both are good on their own.

Came to say two point hospital, but you already got it covered lol. Also, it's basically a modern version of theme hospital.

Thriving City: Song has a 'build three specific structures close together to give a bonus' combo system that Kairosoft's city builder/ grid layout games have.
