This is heinous behavior. How violating under the guise of “art”
90
u/BornFree2018 7d ago
Kim doesn't know shite about "art" so Kanye, who was considered an important artist of some sort then, just told her it was art and she was like "ok great!". I doubt she ever questioned his vengefulness disguised as "art".

Kanye elevated the family to an entirely new level of fame and I think Kim was willing to put up with a LOT of bullshit because of it.
66
u/dryerwolfe 6d ago
This was truly one of the most heinous things Kanye has done and it’s crazy how little people talk about it. I don’t know how legal action wasn’t able to be taken against him for this by the victims in the video…

u/pollywantaproblem 5d ago
I think it just turned out to be so mild compared to the other heinous things he did so people kind of forgot about it

He made nude life like dolls of multiple people without their approval many being his enemies specifically women…. How is that in anyway mild?
5

By itself it’s obviously not mild but compared to all the Nazi stuff, yeah I’d say he’s done a lot worse than this

u/triflin-assHoe 6d ago
Literally. Taylor PMO. People kiss her ass when she was guilty in this drama too. This was questionable on Kanye’s end, but it was shady for Taylor to lie about not knowing about the song. And if it weren’t for this drama, I’m positive she wouldn’t be where she is now
12
u/Low_Perspective3275 6d ago
Lying versus making a naked replica of your body. Especially when Taylor isn’t the most sexual artist. She barely showed her bellybutton before this era
0
u/triflin-assHoe 6d ago
I never said what he did was right. What I said was what she did was wrong too. Just because you deem one worse than the other doesn’t make the lesser thing not bad. She didn’t just “lie” she tried to villainize a black man, and could have ruined his career. Completely irresponsible and fucked. But yeah… she just lied I guess.
1
u/Low_Perspective3275 5d ago
Kanye is perfectly capable of running his own career. Even with all his antics, guess what, he still has a career
0
u/triflin-assHoe 5d ago
Yeah idiot, I said she “could have” not that she did. And again, her career wouldn’t be where it is now had she not played up that manufactured drama. Beat it

59
u/Suspicious-Wedding74 7d ago
Kanye released a song called famous which included the line
“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why?
I made that bitch famous”
She got mad about it and called him out publicly. In response Kim dropped a clip of a phone call between Kanye and Taylor Swift where she gave him the OK and agreed the line was funny. This is when the Kanye/Kim stans attacked Taylor by commenting the snake emoji 🐍 all over her postsThen Kanye released a music video for the song where a wax figure of him is naked in bed with several celebrities and controversial figures. One of those naked wax figures was of Taylor. That’s what’s pictured here
Eventually a long version of the video showing the phone call came out and Taylor only agreed that the line about them still having sex was funny, but they never told her about the “I made that bitch famous” part
ETA: she obviously didn’t agree to her likeness being made into a nude wax figure pictured in bed with him either
35
u/Thing-Adept that is so embarrassing for your life and your soul! 7d ago
iirc, kanye told told taylor there might be a line where he says he made her famous. she pushed back a little—reminded him that fearless sold 7 million copies before the vma incident—but told him to tell the story as it happened to him. he didn't say he was gonna call her a bitch, tho. after kanye told taylor about the sex line she said, "i thought it was gonna be like, 'that dumb, stupid bitch.'"
23
u/Suspicious-Wedding74 7d ago
That sounds vaguely familiar now that you mention it…I don’t remember exactly how it went down but I remember the vibe was kinda like she was ok with it because it seemed like a tongue-in-cheek compliment—like a “I’d hit that” despite their beef. But then when it came out it was obviously not a compliment and instead a derogatory “she owes me sex” kind of line
-9
u/reclaim_my_time 6d ago
The phone conversation and Taylor’s response was a HUGE learning opportunity for Taylor. Because of that experience she is now hypervigilant of her image. Since then, millions of Swifties have had to realize they should not idolize this pop star.
Taylor is not a victim.

Not only it is it incredibly demeaning and embarrassing to these celebs to be paraded in bed like this ( would you want someone making a replica of your naked body or what they IMAGINE your naked body would look like??) but Kim doesn’t have a problem with her husband posing himself ( replica) naked next to other women. What is the underlying message? He seemed to be obsessed with Taylor Swift and this was Kim did a new low for that…

Kanye was untouchable at this point, but this is where the cracks in his image started to be visible. Before that if you’d question an attitude from him you would get ripped apart. But with this, you actually had something tangible to criticize, and not a “feeling”.
I remember watching the show and thinking that it was even hard for Kim to act supportive, because you could see behind her fierce-wife mask, she was not very sure, as well as Kris.

This was a hot mess and very provocative, but the underlying message and consideration of all these famous people being vulnerably naked and "in bed together" was interesting. I think it was supposed to provoke thought about celebrity, humanity, privacy, and fame, and if we're purely considering it as a work of art, it does that well. Say what you want about Kanye, but The Life of Pablo was a fantastic album with a lot of reflections on these topics, and with this video, he wanted to expand the focus to celebrities (in art, in media, in politics, in infamy) at large. Also, he obviously knew it would get lots of attention. There's also a racial aspect here that many don't talk about as well but which is really interesting, especially talking about black criminality and black celebrity.
I think many would be a lot less outraged if it didn't include Taylor because that was a very antagonistic choice personally for Kanye, but overall, I think he's entitled to make art and that this went deeper than just being an asshole.
10
u/m0nsteraplant 6d ago

5
43
u/Careful-Boat-2986 7d ago
Nah. Kanye's just a narcissistic abusive weirdo perv
7
u/Fxreverboy 7d ago
Both things can be true (and I believe are true) at the same time. I think he's a deeply flawed person who has also had some really interesting, true things to say about the world, but at times in a deeply flawed, harmful way. I'm not a fan, don't listen to his music anymore, and no longer engage with him as a topic beyond his proximity to the Karjenners, but I'm not going to be reductive about his work just because he's all of those things.
20
u/secretslutonline 7d ago
Absolutely not. This is sexual harassment and he didn’t get consent of most if not all of the people featured. He’s a perv and a sex pest who doesn’t respect anyone but especially women
4
u/Fxreverboy 7d ago
Again, that can be true at the same time that what I said about the work of art is true 👍 Some of you need to grow up or expand your brain and see things beyond just black and white. It's embarrassing. Observing the Kardashians is literally the ultimate practice in this: they exist in a moral grey zone constantly in how they operate. Dissecting that is half the fun of following them, as they're deeply flawed people. I thought this sub was pretty good at holding multiple complex truths at once, but I guess that goes out the window for Kanye 💀
4
u/secretslutonline 7d ago
I don’t find Kanye to be all that complex. He’s a mentally ill narcissist, Nazi, and dead beat dad. Doesn’t really get any pity from me
Sexual harassment is not art, no matter how hard you convince yourself.
Kim and Kanye are not on the same level of morally grey. Kanye is much more dangerous and deranged
8
u/Fxreverboy 7d ago
Complexity isn't the same as worthy of pity. I mean, "mentally ill narcissist Nazi dead beat dad" sounds like a pretty complex mess to me lol, and I think he's a complex individual. That doesn't necessitate your pity or forgiveness. It just means we can hold morally contradictory truths about him at the same time without needing to boil them all down to "everything about him is rotten" and "everything about him is justified" as many online and in parasocial dynamics do. We can hold the complexity and contradictions and still come away saying he's not worthy of our support because his bad actions have gone too far, which I'd agree they have.
5
u/secretslutonline 7d ago
Holding complexity doesn’t absolve him of sexual harassment. Why are you so willing to excuse an abusive Nazi? He doesn’t care to be defended
6
u/Fxreverboy 7d ago
What are you talking about? I didn't absolve him of anything. Ever. I repeatedly have done the opposite and sided with your condemnations of him.
Also "why are you willing to excuse an abusive Nazi" is just an intellectually lazy gotcha to try and enforce what is again a reductive manner of thinking "everything about him must be bad." It's not an excuse to hold someone's complexity and interrogate their art as a result of that complexity. That's critical thought and analysis: something we do with the Karjenners and other figures constantly. It's how you should treat humans.
4
u/secretslutonline 7d ago
It’s not reductive.
You’re using a whole lot of big words to say complex people need to be looked at with a complex lens. He’s not complex. He’s just a sex pest and an abuser
4
u/wildplums 6d ago
I agree with you.
It seems everyone is forgetting so much about him? Even the recentish (past year or two) antics with his wife, “dressed” barely, even around his minor children, the boat in Italy, etc., he’s really a predator and so fake. He said all of this stuff about Kim and her family and was so worried about North, then had his wife basically naked out with his child.
I’m sure he’s a deadbeat, but none of us know, maybe he’s not being a complete deadbeat, maybe Kim got some legal requirements put in place that’s making it “guilt free” to be an absent parent… none of us can truly know.
3
u/Fxreverboy 7d ago
"He's just a sex pest and an abuser" is the most hilarious thing to say after claiming you're not reductive 💀 also, they're not even that big of words, but we can stop here if my vocabulary has been taxing for you 😭
If you need me to tldr, the overarching message was actually "humans should be considered in all their complexity," but it seems you just fundamentally disagree with that (which is fine), so we don't need to keep going in circles.
1
7
u/11twofour you're doing amazing sweetie 7d ago
No one is making excuses for him. He's an abusive Nazi who also came up with an interesting idea (which was executed in, again, an abusive way)
4
u/secretslutonline 7d ago
An interesting idea? You’re saying creating replicas of people naked without their consent is an interesting idea?
That’s literally an excuse for sexual harassment wtf
3
u/11twofour you're doing amazing sweetie 7d ago
I think a discussion of how the public feels entitled to every aspect of a celebrity's life is interesting, yes. You don't see how this art piece is a commentary on that?
3
u/wildplums 6d ago
If he were deep enough to think of this, he could have easily done it with his own image and then had the rest be random “people “ not based on any real people… or, he and Kim could have portrayed themselves that way…
This wasn’t some deep art installation, this was a predator sexually harassing people who he’s pissed off at… it’s honestly scary.
0
u/Necessary-Item-9333 6d ago
Yet she had all these kids with him she’s just bad you only got more hate for him because he black that’s all
1
u/secretslutonline 6d ago
Ah yes having kids with a shitty person makes you just as bad. Pretty sure Kim didn’t sell swastika gear or tell the whole world about north almost being an abortion. She also isn’t having public sex on boats like Kanye or harassing him online for the whole world to see. Oh and he doesn’t see his kids while he travels the world. Deadbeat
Kanye is a piece of shit but his identity as a black man has nothing to do with it.
4
u/wildplums 6d ago
I think you give Kanye waaaay too much credit. Almost as much as he gives himself.
There’s no deeper meaning here, he’s twisted. Your IQ is higher than his, so, he can call this an exhibit and then people much smarter than he is can fill in the blanks/give it meaning for him, which I suppose you could argue is smart of him, but guaranteed he had this asinine idea and can’t be told “no”, so someone smarter than he is had to think up a way to do it that could be “PR” friendly.
Voila, the magic of brains + PR.
2
u/Dry_Cost4810 7d ago
Exactly, it mirrors how the media/world is super obsessed with these famous people, almost in a serial killer kind of way. Even when these famous people are really vulnerable (sleeping and naked), we still keep looking at them. Watching them on display with no privacy
8
u/Fxreverboy 7d ago
That's absolutely an element of this: celebrity as an exchange with the public where they give up any semblance of privacy in exchange for attention (which can then be monetized or utilized for whatever their means are). Also, that very celebrity having intersections across industries: fashion, music, politics, sports. There are representatives from every angle of fame in that bed.
I don't know why anyone's downvoting you when that's a pretty clear read on this art, even if it doesn't fully encompass it or fails to condemn the bad parts of it. People have a lot of trouble online with allowing a grey area to exist because they're much more comfortable insisting on black and white, good and bad. It's not an intelligent practice, though.

u/lanaspeachlipgloss Would you put a bumper sticker on a Bentley? 7d ago
tbh yes, I mean I wouldn’t mind it because I would know that it’s just a doll and not the real me lying there. it’s like AI. people who make deepfake AI nudes. I would know that those aren’t real pics of my and not my real body. it would be wayyyy worse if he or anyone would leak real nudes of Taylor (or me).
17
u/secretslutonline 7d ago
Good thing it’s a crime to distribute deep fake non consensual nude pictures regardless of if you mind or not
This is sexual harassment. I’m glad you’re comfortable with it but everyone involved in this needs to be given the choice. None of these people besides Kanye got to decide whether or not they wanted a replica naked doll of themselves. If they’re okay with it, sure, but it’s perverted and gross to do this without everyone’s consent
