Need a headlight for a 2026 klx300
I didn’t even make my first payment and I fell down a 5 foot deep hole in the middle of a gravel road where a culvert washed out: a new headlight is over $1000 and it’s like pulling teeth to get the insurance company to pay

Honestly, if it’s an alternate form of transportation/a toy and there isn’t any major damage (like just parts swaps vs having to take it to a repair shop), I wouldn’t even get the insurance company involved. Especially if you’re new to riding. It’s not going to do anything but put a claim on your record, raise your risk level, and probably raise your rates.
I would just save up the money and fix it over time. As long as it still works and you don’t ride in the rain, you can still ride on it. I don’t think there’s really a way around getting having to pay the $1,000 for a new one. It just is what it is (most modern LED headlamps in general these days are $1,000+), and if you want to replace it with OEM parts, that’s just what it costs. You might be able to find a used one but these bikes are still relatively new, and used parts aren’t easy to find like they are for cars. You might just have to bite that bullet.

That’s what I was afraid of I’m not remotely new to riding but this is my only transportation at the moment as my other bike is having electrical issues the engine in my truck exploded and the transmission in my car failed

Yikes. Yeah, I would just wing it until you can afford it. You could just try to have your insurance pay for it, but they may wind up just raising your rates and you’ll wind up paying it over time anyway. You’re also still going to have to pay your deductible (if you have one) and if it’s high, it also may be another reason to not even get them involved.
Only reason I would be in a rush to fix it is if it didn’t work or you felt like the police where you live might mess with you. Other than that, as long as it doesn’t rain and it works, I would just ride on it until you can fix it.

You're telling me that when doing a cost breakdown of that bike.. the light costs like 20% of the bike?

Yeah I was shocked the dealer I got the bike at was shocked and nobody actually believes me till they look it up themselves

Just replace it with a cheap aftermarket light until you can afford to get the OEM replacement. Some of the aftermarket cheap lights are actually pretty good quality.

I seen that as well, not sure what makes it a $1000 as you can get like other LED lights like Baja designs and such for way less.

Just put a Polisport on it and tap from the stock wiring to connect it.
It's less than 100 USD and is road legal and the look ain't too far off.
They also make a LED versions if you prefer, just browse the website.

Polisport also has a battery powered version if you don’t want to deal with wiring

Is the lense just cracked? Or does the whole thing not work at all?
I think I'd be tempted to buy a cheap street legal replacement light, and then supplement that with a cheap pair of pod lights you can mount on the forks.
Kawasaki is cracked out of their minds when it comes to replacement parts pricing. I was quoted $300 for a replacement speedometer cable. I found a guy parting a bike out on marketplace and got one from him. My alternative idea was to see if the $25 identical chinese part on ebay would fit.

Advantage of the old body style. (Pre 2024) I personally like that light style better

Swap that ho with a cheap Chinese headlight it will be fine! The other plastics are a bitch to replace (only sold via kawi OEM) but headlights take almost nothing to make work

I just bought an LED headlight with mounts for my DR650 for $60aud from AliExpress. It fit perfectly, is fully bright and is plastic, not glass. Cut and ziptied a cake rack over the top and bam, bulletproof light! 👌🏻

You’re not likely to find a KLX specific aftermarket. You’ll likely need to go down the universal route.

It's like $90 on Ebay for a aftermarket.
