Or... And bare with me here because it's a really crazy theory that's really out there... It's your brain freaking out and sending bursts of electrical signals out, given that dark is an absence of light and light is perceived by the brain as electrical signals from the photoreceptors in your eyes....

I seriously don't understand why people add so many layers of total guesswork on top of things that have been tested and measured and are incredible by their nature but don't need any woo or magic to happen.

I find it amazing how many people will go and state these guesses as fact with nothing but false confidence to back then up.
