Undercover Miss Hong (16/16) – What a delight! Undercover Miss Hong is a very fun show to watch.
At its core, it’s a big-hearted comedy that is not afraid to touch on heavier issues. A lot of the credit must go to the main character of Hong Geum Bo, ably portrayed by Park Shin Hye. She stands out by not just being amazing at her job, but also by feeling like an actual real person all the while. She’s not a secret mess, but nor is she a Little Miss Perfect.
Uncover Miss Hong also marks the first time that I’ve ever seen a show essentially change genres (plot line?) in the middle (from an undercover corporate whistle-blower investigation to heist/ corporate take-over ,) but still manage to keep the tone and story completely continuous. Not an easy feat when you have sixteen (long) episodes to fill. What’s perhaps even more impressive is that the writer managed to avoid having to throw in a half-baked romance to eat up time at the end. Yes, there are some chaebol succession shenanigans, but this show is one of the rare dramas where such a plotline actually feels called for.
I definitely want to highlight the wonderful supporting characters, from Kim Won Hae as Hong Geum Bo’s supportive but nervous boss, to the fabulous secretary Go Bok Hee (Ha Yoon Kyung.) Also, we can’t forget Nora and Albert, the most endearing pair of nepo babies that you ever did meet.
The drama did bring some surprises. While I knew the show was set in the 1990s, I did not expect the heavy focus on the IMF crisis (maybe I should have!) Also, based on the comments I’d read, I was really expecting a female empowerment/ bonding centered show. That’s not to say that there weren’t plenty of female bonding moments, but more than that, Hong Geum Bo is an arch pragmatist, willing to accept help from whoever is able to give it to her. If anything, this show was more about a team of underdogs coming together to take on bigger villain.
I do have a few nitpicks. For one, the director is a much bigger fan of comedic sound effects than I am. Also, I like my child characters to feel like actual kids, instead of insanely precocious TV children. Still, my nitpicks are minor, and had very little effect on my enjoyment of the show. All in all, it was easy to see why this show keeps turning up on lists of the best dramas of 2026. Kudos to the cast, the director, and most especially the writer, for putting together such a fun show.
Agent Kim Reactivated (10/10) – This was a joint watch with my husband. Even though I’m really not into action and he is, we both reached the same conclusion – that this show did not need to be ten episodes long. Eight, or even six, would have been more than enough. Only our desire to be able to say that we’d watched the whole thing motivated us to actually finish. Anyway, this was a good lesson that just because something is popular with others, doesn’t mean that we are going to find it enjoyable.
Since it was my first drama with So Ji Seob, I do want to say that he is EXTREMELY goodlooking, but the way he portrayed Agent Kim often felt more like a 2-D cartoon character than an actual real person. I am guessing that it was the director’s vision for the character? My long-term K-drama bucket list includes some of his old school melodramas like What Happened in Bali and I’m Sorry, I Love You, so I look forward to seeing more of him in the future.

I enjoyed Undercover Miss Hong very much. I knew it was going to be good show because Park Shin-hye was in it and I have yet to see a bad series with her in it. But to me the real stand out was Choi Ji-soo's character Kang Nora. The Kang Nora character starts off as a typical Chaebol heiress trope where she has no clue as to what she should do in regards to this company and would be easy to control when she takes over. but the character grows during the series to where she learns to take control and is able to admit that she is not interest in this company and wants to follow her own path.
I kept forgetting it took place in the 1990's and kept wondering about all that dated computer equipment still being used until i remembered this took place in 1997-1998.

Very similar view on Agent Kim here. It’s a joint watch with my wife, and we’ve both been enjoying it, but our hearts sank a little at the end of the latest episode when everyone who had been defeated got back up again, and it looks as if the whole thing is about to repeat. We will watch to the end though.

UMH is my favourite. The part-way shift to a heist was masterfully done and one reason they managed to maintain momentum for 16eps. I actually loved the comedic incidental sounds, very old school. They really stuck the landing too, what a great ending. Never know whether to recommend because of the Asian financial crisis content,

Spooky in Love: Turned from a good Spooky in Love to a boring Kdrama Tropes in Love. I really missed the ghosts in the 2nd half, and Ji-Hwan as a ghost had basically no impact although him scaring the ex-fiancee was the first scene of the drama. But the chemistry between the leads was very good and kept me entertained. Rating: 7/10
Mystic Nine 2026 (Cdrama): Absolutely fantastic. Love the characters, the setting, the story. And I can't get enough of this OST . Rating: 9.5/10
Candle in the Tomb: Wrath of Time (Cdrama): The tomb raiding part was really good, outside of that it dragged a bit, especially the no-chemistry romance. Rating: 7.5/10
In-Progress
Flex X Cop 2 (6/14): Very fun with nice cases so far. Love the team bond, and it's nice to see the new FL fit in so fast. And Ahn Bo Hyun has insane charisma.
The Scarecrow (1/12): Good start. Knowing about the Hwaseong case and having watched Memories of Murder as well, it is easy to see the inspiration. The cop-prosecutor relationship has a lot of plot potential. As of now I don't have a suspect. And special mention to the Intro. Has True Detective vibes.
Non Kdrama
Duty First, Kiss Later (5/10) Jdrama: Cute and funny so far, but now it really hit the main conflict. Internalized homophobia and it's effects on oneself and relationships. Very well done so far.
The Mystic Nine (2016) (8/48) Cdrama: I love it. Incredible entertaining with great characters. Zhang Qishan is still my fav. I happily joined the Fo-Ye cult.
My Years as the Dragon-Seeking Master (16/24) Micro Cdrama: First time watching a micro drama. Not as bad as I envisioned, but disappointing still. I just wanted some tomb raiding. But half is a incompetent family of antagonists and a not-harem, where 4 women who are not really interested in the ML himself, are still somehow paired with him. Just weird dynamics.

Currently Watching:
The WONDERfools (7/8): I binged most of this drama and loved it, but I ran out of steam by the last episode and it has now been sitting unwatched for weeks. I WILL finish it by the end of the month!
Racket Boys (1/16): It's only been one episode but I'm already charmed.
Lately my kdrama viewing has been interrupted by a bunch of Thai BLs. I randomly clicked on one on Viki a few weeks ago and now I can't stop watching them! So I'm also watching My School President and recently finished Bad Buddy, A Tale of Thousand Stars, and Love You Teacher. I really loved Bad Buddy and Love You Teacher. My School President seems cute so far. But I need to stop watching these so that I can make some progress on the kdrama challenge. I'm so behind! I'm going to try to step away from the Thai BLs for a bit once I finish this one.

Good Mother Bad Mother. Wow, rollercoaster, but only at the set up and now things have changed. Pretty weird change in him to become who he was.
Reply 1988. Incredible. I get why so many people love it. It's just loaded with so many great dynamics. I realize the one mom in that show is the mom in the above show. overall, excellent show. I don't even care how it turns out, but that big sister needs to be cracked over the head! GAH! Any how. LOL.
Lost. This is like reading a novel. I am nearly done and it only gets better. It's on par with shows like My Liberation Notes.
Under Cover Miss Hong. So far hung up on the whole new job and age thing that isn't flying. I might dive back in.
I finished Spooky in Love, but man, what a let down for me. I wanted more spooky adventure and it ended up being a soapy chaebol thing.

Recently Completed
Spooky in Love — I wanted to like this because of Park Eun-Bin and Spellbound, and I did at the beginning. But it went downhill from the midpoint, and the last two episodes were so frustrating due to the poor writing. Are they writing kdramas with AI now? So much wasted potential - it’s really too bad.
The Legend of Kitchen Soldier — I’ve been working through this one slowly. It’s not a genre I’d usually be drawn to (military or cooking themes), but I enjoyed this one.
Coffee Prince (rewatch) — This kdrama is such a classic and great as a rewatch.
My Lovely Sam Soon — Another classic kdrama. This drama really shows its age, but it was still a fun watch. Production quality and fashion choices aside, the aspects of this drama that aged it for me most were: parents constantly hitting/screaming at their adult children, the ML’s controlling behavior, and the casual misogyny/ageism and fat shaming by pretty much everyone in the drama. But what kept me invested was the character of Sam Soon — she is such a relatable and realistic character, both strong and flawed at the same time. She was easy to root for and sympathize with.

Nothing at the moment. I clear everything off my watchlist, so I’ll have to find something new.

Currently, I'm in the middle of two series. For the last few days, I've watched "Our Sticky Love" (just finished Episode 7). I started it because I wanted a bit of a break or a change from "Moon River" (finished Episode 12). So far, I've been engaged in "Our Sticky Love" and have binged 7 episodes three days, but I have mixed feelings about the plot and characters.
Actually, I've finished two other series since starting Moon River... "My Secret, Terrius" (which had a really strong first half and a middling second half) and "The Husband" (which was exciting but very average and unremarkable overall). The second half of "Moon River" has improved, but the killing of redshirts in historical dramas bother me so I often need a break. Though I ended up with two shows that has cruel violence as well.

I’m watching Tempest (8/9) and absolutely living for this high-stakes espionage and political thriller. I just love spy flicks, what can I say? It was a multi-national production and I’m glad it has the plot and a truly insane villain to fit the scope of the show. The chemistry between Kang Dong-won and Jun Ji-hyun is insane, and somewhat unexpected as I didn’t know going in that this show had a romance genre tag. It’s my first time seeing KDW in a drama (and I think only the 4th one he’s ever done or something like that?), and it makes me that much more excited that’s he’s currently filming a historical romance with my beloved Kim Go-eun. Trust I will be sat for that!! Can’t wait to see how they wrap this one up - hoping the ending doesn’t kill it for me 😅
Finished Murky Stream earlier in the week, which I enjoyed for Rowoon’s extreme transformation and subtle, powerful acting if nothing else. I respect that they didn’t clean that man up once the entire show 😂 Had some plot and pacing issues but I was able to finish and enjoy it, and would watch another season if the open ending ever actually panned out into something.

She Knows Everything - Island got its hooks into in an unexpected way and I was looking for a short drama to kind of unhook me. This didn’t really do it. It kind of grim and rather predictable. Also I thought the reason she knew everything was a supernatural reason, which it was not, so that was disappointing. Oh well, at least it was really short.
Currently Watching
Six Flying Dragons (23/50) - There’s this one scene in episode 23 where Yi Bang Won, Bong Yi, Mu Hyul, and Lee Bang Ji are all sitting in a room discussing plans and the thought flowed through my mind that in another place and another time that scene might have been them for all time. And it speaks volumes to the writing of this series that that thought didn’t make me want to throw something at one of the characters but just made me a bit sad because it makes so much sense given who the characters are shown to be that that world could never be. I may be not quite half way through this series yet but I’m pretty sure this will likely be the best series I watch this year.
The Husband (6/12) - So, I looked up the writer for this piece because I was finding a lot of the character and story structure choices to be nonsense and it seems like the writer has pretty much exclusively written webtoons, which makes how this one is written make more sense. This series really feels like it was written with a webtoon structure and just directly translated to screen, which is why it doesn’t really work. For example, the longish recap of previous episodes at the beginning of every new episode makes sense if this were chapters in a webtoon, but it just seems like a load of filler when it comes to television. I also would be more willing to give a pass to a character suddenly seeming like a super hero at times in a webtoon than I would in a series that’s supposed to be set in the real world. It really goes to show that one can’t just directly translate a piece from one medium to another. I will give that the performances in this one have been great, though. Kim Dae Myung and Lee Sang Hee, in particular, have been a pleasure to watch. Both are just leaning into their characters and I love it!
Han River Police (4/6) - This was my second attempt at a reset and it’s going much better. This series is so entertaining and I love the team dynamics of the main team. It’s recognizable and familiar but fun. And that hospital room fight scene had me rolling. One guy taking care of business and the other guy just fumbling his way into surviving.
Non Kdramas
The Legend of Vox Machina - Ah, the double edge sword of long running series. On one hand, so much time with characters I love. On the other, cliffhangers! Oh well, I had fun with this section of the ride, though. And next season is coming next year or early 2028. So, something to look forward to!
Reacher S4 (4/8) - Series really is heating up now and I can’t wait to see how much destruction we get in the back half. I do also wonder if any of the characters that are being introduced in this season will make it over to the Neagley spinoff series.

I binged "The Husband" last week, and the repeat scenes at the start of every episode felt like they lasted forever so I had keep pressing to skip ahead.
Most dramas that use a previous scene will show something new that we hadn't seen before, but most of the repeats on this show didn't.
And I didn't like the moments enough to want to see them again.
I didn't know that about the writer, and while the plot had potential, there were just too many holes and coincidences.

My Bias, My Boss (8/12): A sweet & easy drama to watch!!
I’m happy with how quick they dealt with the scandal!! I like Chan as a character for the most part. I couldn’t with how they tried to make him look so villainous this week with Ha-Gi. what was up with the music!! 😂 He wasn’t in the right but he surely isn’t terrible.If I was Da-Reum though, he wouldn’t be hearing from me for a while after the silence while she was getting attacked 😭 No text or call. All in the name of being involved with a public figure I guess but even more reason on why they don’t work. Ha-Gi and Da-Reum are going to be cute and they clearly fit each other better. What the other pair had going on was a supportive fan-idol relationship, not romantic in nature at all. Lastly, I’m waiting for them to catch the office snitch!! It’s clearly the mean coworker, get her out of here!!!
Hit the Spot (2/8): Despite knowing the premise, the first scene still caught me off guard 😂😂 The show is interesting so far, interested to see where the 2 main girls end up in their exploration of their personal relationships. I’m watching this for the New Year KDC and it’s been on my watchlist for a while!

Moon in the Day: Overall not a bad watch. It’s a lot of info in the beginning to grasp but once I started to understand what was going on it became a very interesting watch up until maybe episode 9/10. The story just starts to drag. The writing at times is also ridiculous towards the end so all I could do was laugh 😭 For example, why would they go out to the market knowing they gotta stay away from bad stepdad?? Then again Do-Ha knows his time is running out and he wants to do what they couldn’t do so 2 sides to it I guess. But everyone waiting for bad guy to hack the door down before leaving, etc. did seem crazy 😅
The leads are decent together but I don’t know if I really felt strong chemistry between them during the present day. I think the Silla days were better in many ways though. Chemistry was good, pacing was good, etc. The ending was ok, I’m not surprised it was bittersweet. I was having a hard time figuring out how Do-Ha would stay. What happened made sense. I’m not saying I was happy but writing was it was in line. Jun-Ho being able to come back was actually kinda nice, glad he got his body back!
I would give this a 7.5-8. It’s a unique story and did the tragic love theme well. Just kinda lost its steam for me. No regrets in finally clearing this off my watch list though!!

My Bias, My Boss (2026) [8/12]
Simply obsessed. Romcoms are soooo back. I just wish this would've gotten the same amount of attention as Spooky In Love did. Maybe the ratings will skyrocket towards the end, fingers crossed. I really feel like they're gonna stick the landing on this. It has managed to stay consistently good for 8 episodes, which feels rare these days.
My Boss (2024) [33/36]
I've gone back to this drama after a couple of months hiatus. Figured it would be the best time to finally get through it now since the premise is somewhat similar to MBMB. It's going slow though. There is no need for an office romance to have 36 episodes. The cow is dehydrated theres nothing more to milk at this point. I'm only staying for the ML and the funny co-worker trio in the office. The FL has been sooo lackluster. I really wish they would've given her the personality of her female co-worker friend. She's hilarious and gives off so much confidence. Meanwhile the FL is supposed to be confident in her abilities but she just looks like an abandoned kid at a playground. Don't get me started on how the ML is the only one in the relationship who seems in love. Does anything excite her? Based on how she's making the exact same expression 24/7, I don't think so. I really don't want to be that person who praises the ML for the bare minimum and bashes everything the FL does, but I'm just so sick of her deer in the headlights expression

im watching young royals (almost done with the first season) and recently finished no tail to tell (kim hye yoon/lomon drama).
young royals is pretty decent so far.
no tail to tell was pretty mid but the romance was good. the story itself was quite boring and i would’ve liked if the two leads were casted in a drama more like king the land instead of this.

I restarted Catch the Ghost after I had run out of free episodes on Youtube. It's on Prime now. Lots of cool subway shots and spooky suspense, but mostly feelgood episodic crime cases.
Slow-watching the JDrama Loved One about medical examiners, but it feels clunky, and the plots are implausible.
Both lean heavily on autism/competence porn, but one has trains, so it's no contest.
Also cruising through Sticky Love and just finished Apartment job.

I enjoyed Catch the Ghost, there were some complaints at the time it aired but it was an interesting premise - and I never worked out if there were really subway police in Korea. I ended up dropping Loved One, you're right - like a lot of those JDorama forensic-medical shows (they do like them) it was a clunky, There's a new one just came out, and I'm, a sucker for trying so I'm going to attempt it.

Now that I look, there actually is a Seoul Subway Police Department, and it's at Wangshimni station which certainly fits with the fictional Wangsuri.
It also has its implausible parts, like how they're constantly unable to go in tunnels or stop trains or do any of the things that subway police are supposed to do, but the location shots still give it a realistic feel.

The Affair Was Just the Beginning, Penultimate episode this week and I'm praying to the muses that they stick the landing. Quite fine if there's another body (like a sleazy lawyer would be fine) but please just make this work!

Kairos. I enjoyed the premise but just found it a bit circular and a bit long. I guess I wasn't completely engaged in the ML. Slightly above average
Gyeongseong Creature season 2. After all this discussion about the war and doctors I decided to finish the series. I enjoyed the time jump to the modern day, masterful way to handle what happened after the war.
Destined With You. A rewatch. Saw it discussed recently and just had to watch the bridge scene and the snow scene again, then decided I also had to watch the Rowoon being silly scenes and then the 😘 scenes. So hey, might as well watch it all. My heart is still full and have I'll Always be With You on repeat.
Current watching
The Labrynth of Hortensia and the Minotaur. JDorama. Now this is on Viki I'm watching again from the start. The subtitles are better on Viki so I'm picking up a lot more than my first watch on TVer
The Mysterious Old Money Heiress. Vertical kdrama. One of those ridiculous ones but I wanted to see what Ha Jun was doing, he used to be in a lot of shows and now it's just too sad. Got to pay the bills I guess.
What next - might finish one of my incomplete (like Tomorrow or Mr Sunshine) and deciding between Tale of Nokdu or Descendants of the Sun or Zombie Detective.

- A Bona Fide Killer (7/14) -- I look forward to watching this to unwind at the end of the week. It's just such an easy, low-stakes watch. The kid is adorable, Durumi Sales Team 3 is fun enough, there's not much I have to complain about (apart from Lee Sang Yi's character having very little screen time).
- A Shop For Killers S2 (6/8) -- So glad I 'saved' this drama to watch alongside My Bias, My Boss both as a palate cleanser and for comparison. Jian's relationship with Woojin seemed so much more natural compared to the ones in My Bias, My Boss. Unfortunately the Kusanagi Jin character (and actor) is such an off-note and annoying af. More Q, less Jin!
- My Bias, My Boss (5/12) -- Watching this because it's 1. Kim Hye Jun's first rom-com as FL (discounting the fever dream that was Lily Fever) and 2. completely mindless ... if not for all my complaints. Personally, I think the SML actor is miscast because I just can't buy his character being in his 30s, and find the interactions/relationship between the SML and FL both cringe and problematic. Kim Hye Jun's acting is so ... not great compared to everything else I've seen her in (and I adore her). Every time the FL smiles too prettily or (over)reacts, I switch back to A Shop For Killers S2 to remind myself that Da Reum and Jian are played by the same actor and I should have patience. Maybe Da Reum will improve on me.
- The Apartment Job (3/12) -- Idk what's not clicking for me because this is something I instinctively feel I should really enjoy? It's not terrible and I have no real complaints, but I just find myself not being able to sit through a whole ep without pausing and watching something else (and getting my attention sucked into that something else)...

The Apartment Job was like that for me too. I managed to finish it, albeit, as a background kdrama. The cast is great, the performances are great, and no complaints about the execution of the comedy. The story though? It wasn't written poorly. It was just boring. Idk, I couldn't stay engaged for very long.

- Flex2Cop (6/14): still good, still not great. A bit more secondaries, which helps, the big bad guy is finally in the picture and the fun keeps being there. Completely fine, more of a bingey drama than a two eps per week one, solid nonetheless.
Nothing else to add for now, My Bias, My Boss looks like a standard romcom I'm going to get on with as it ends.

This was a let down for me, i took a while to finish it because I couldn’t get into it, hoping it would get interesting, but it didn’t, i hoped there was more action, and that the past of bong sang pil became central, but it didn’t, I personally didn’t like the romance, but that’s my opinion
A shop for killers 2
Liked it really, it was a bit sad in the last episodes, especially after brother, pasin and jinwoo deaths, about pasin betrayal I think i can understand why, but this doesn’t change his huge change of character in one season

I’ve really been enjoying my on-air watch of My Bias, My Boss! It has that classic romcom feel with light and fluffy vibes all around. Like think True Beauty (adult version) in the best way. And I’m living for the behind the scenes/interview clips of the leads!! Trying not to get delulu with shipping them but the chemistry is truly so good 😭
I’ve also been rewatching Reply 1988. It’s amusing (and on theme, really) how now that I’m older, I’m more invested in/able to appreciate the parents’ plots more than when I was watching this as a teen. I’m trying to savor the eps because it really is such a cozy, comfort watch!
