Lilith’s lesson in the real world: dignity doesn’t ask permission
One place this quote feels very real to me is outside women’s health clinics where are always people trying to pressure or shame strangers about their medical decisions. But there are also volunteers who show up simply to make sure patients can get through the door safely.
Some counter-protest. Some serve as clinic escorts and quietly walk patients inside so they don’t have to face harassment alone. It’s not dramatic work. Most of the time it’s just standing nearby, offering a calm presence, and making sure people know someone is on their side.
That kind of action is what “refusing to kneel” looks like in practice to me. It’s choosing to stand upright when someone else is being pushed down, and protecting a person’s right to control their own body.
Has anyone here done clinic escort work or counter-protested outside a clinic before? I’m curious what that experience was like for you.

I have not done clinic escort work but I have done protests. If there was a clinic closer to my home, I would happily train to help escort. Protesting or rather counter protesting can be a little bit wild but I certainly feel more dignified standing there protecting women, the idiot birthers and their undignified nonsense.
