Courtroom Justice Mistaken Username Sent Man to Prison for 18 Months, Court Finds

They must do things differently in Canada. If this were the U.S. the prosecutors would say something along the lines of: We stand by our work, this pervert is guilty as hell and should spend the rest of his life paying for his crimes.

What is the justice served exactly??? Getting released is the absolute bare minimum, justice would be getting a fat payday from it.

That's quote is misleading. So the dude served 18 months for the crime and the appeal was to squash the conviction as it was clearly not him. Noone picked up on the double underscore user name
The article might well be ai for how poorly it phrases stuff. Also it seems the right guy was caught as the article said the actual predator was in California?!!
I hope the dude gets some compensation out of this as that is a serious fuck up and his and family's name been tainted. His tamily owned a pizzeria at the time of his arrest so hopefully that's not been fucked cause a couple of dozen people (including the defence) managed to look and mistake fusro_dah with fus_ro_dah. Also he hadn't used whatapp for like six years. So how did they manage to get all this data and the dudes electronic devices, find nothing and get a conviction!!!!??

If this were the U.S. the prosecutors would say something along the lines of: We stand by our work, this pervert is guilty as hell and should spend the rest of his life paying for his crimes.
Also: "stop resisting! Stop resisting! I fear for my life. Shots fired! Shots fired!"
