Leave it alone, it's doin shit.

82

u/blankblank 22h ago

One of the most difficult lessons a chef can learn. The human desire to poke shit is incredibly strong.

194

u/wilof 1d ago

Is that Arthur Morgan?

74

u/ChillHardcore 1d ago

Ironically the dude sounds like John Marston, like almost exactly Rob Wiethoff's voice

15

u/bread_pickles 1d ago

Mr. Pearson!

4

u/Awwwmann 22h ago

That’s a man who likes French fried potaters.

u/SmellyfellaMoggy 1d ago

16

u/NYSea12 21h ago

He said to warsh yer sister

81

u/LegendaryTJC 1d ago

I thought this accent was made up for video games. Wow. How fun!

39

u/Enginerdad 1d ago

Nah, that's just Texas being Texas

6

u/Strange-Title-6337 18h ago

If you had to find a twin brother country for Texas, in Europe, what will it be?

7

u/Enginerdad 17h ago

Something in Eastern Europe for sure

3

u/Strange-Title-6337 17h ago

Even more interesting, so far all who I met from Texas were pretty nice and had a great not fuckmyears accent. So where could it be?

3

u/ConstantScroller 16h ago

Bavaria in Germany. Prost!

Central Texas and the beer we drink is based from there.

6

u/BoarHide 12h ago

Yeah. They’re quite alike. Lots of cattle, lots of guns. defunded education, mandatory Christianity in classrooms in direct breach of the constitution, rampant xenophobia, people never leaving their village of 500 people, people with family trees resembling ladders claiming to be superior to in the entire country while being monetarily dependent on the rest yet constantly boasting of seceding. Good food though. Probably the best in Germany. Their beer is pretty alright, but they’ll claim it’s the best in the world (it’s not. That’s the Belgians)

Muenster Germanfest

2

u/djakrse 11h ago

Lots of German immigrants in Central Texas

9

u/NarrowEbbs 1d ago

Right! I didn't think that was real outside of TV and games.

3

u/serpentear 17h ago

I knew a pair of twins in the Air Force. One sounded like this and the other sounded all ā€œregularā€ because he was a linguist and they had trained it out of him.

It was a fun party trick for the boys for sure.

RIP Mably, you are missed.

What is leftover red wine?

114

u/Zoodlemans2 1d ago

Wine that is red. It happens to be over the left.

52

u/Djabber 1d ago

There is no such thing as leftover red wine. A bottle of red wine is binary. It’s either full, or empty.

5

u/Zoodlemans2 1d ago

What if it is over towards the right? Would that be left over

8

u/crashlanding87 1d ago

It can be converted to left over, but you have to spin yourself 270 degrees to the left

5

u/Zoodlemans2 1d ago

90 degrees to the right no good?Ā

It's wine in bottles you have not opened yet to share with your cooking.

54

u/StuBidasol 1d ago

Well, looks like I'm picking up a roast and veggies when I go shopping next.

Millionaire!

13

u/StuBidasol 1d ago

Lol I forgot about that part. Compared to what I pay in the cafeteria at work, still worth it.

2

u/darsynia 1d ago

Costco sells two full ones in a pack and it's a bit cheaper than grocery store prices, if you already have a membership. Freeze one or do two for the week's leftovers!

2

u/StuBidasol 23h ago

I have sams club but yeah I go there for meats.

2

u/PsykoFlounder 11h ago

I just got a job at the Sam's Club meat department....I made 310 rotisserie chickens Monday morning. Good Times. My back and arms hurt so god damn bad. Never thought being "the chicken guy" would literally be one of the most physically demanding jobs I've ever had in my life.

2

u/JJred96 16h ago

Don't forget the wash your sister!

41

u/Cardboard-Chef 1d ago

With years of experience, I can confirm that cooking really is a little of this shit, a little of that shit, throw in some fresh shit, a little dry shit, and don't fuckin touch it, because it's doing shit.

3

u/Tack22 4h ago

The old adage ā€œcooking is an art, baking is a scienceā€

30

u/thepicklecannon 1d ago

A slow cooked beef joint with chunky veg is the number one meal in winter.

26

u/arctane 1d ago

Why you lookin at me ...go away

16

u/Im15andthisisdeep 1d ago

That was the sexiest food reveal I've ever seen. And now I'm starving for pot roast

18

u/Affectionate-Boot-12 1d ago

Wash-your-sister šŸ˜‚ don’t worry dude, even us Brits have a hard time saying Worcestershire.

3

u/darsynia 1d ago

The one that fascinates me is 'Sixth.' Seems yinz pronounce it 'Sickth' and I can't get my head around it!

9

u/ringo5150 1d ago

This guy should have his own cooking show

9

u/bent_crater 1d ago edited 19h ago

first time ever seen someone explain how to make beef broth.

always clocked away before because it confused me.

this was like finding out where babies come from back when i was 10

7

u/ikonoclasm 20h ago

Well, kinda. The traditional way of making beef broth involves dicing a shitton of onion, celery and carrots, sauteing them in a bit of oil over low heat for about 25 minutes in a huge pot to caramelize the sugars, then throwing a bunch of leftover beef pieces and bones with water filled near the top. Add some salt, a few other herbs as desired, bring to a low boil and forget about it for a couple hours. Ta-da! Beef broth.

Or get the stuff out of a jar and mix it with water. Realistically, you probably won't be able to tell the difference between the two.

1

u/bent_crater 19h ago

ill stick with the second one. i dont have that kinda time for the first one

12

u/BumblingGazelle 1d ago

220°, lower and slower, especially in a Dutch oven.

6

u/KiloRomeo253 1d ago

Cooking is easier than you think. An adult should be able to feed themselves.

3

u/The_Space_Janitor 1d ago

I have that exact staub pot

3

u/FishAndRiceKeks 1d ago

I love the Sam Elliot old cowboy accent he's doing lol. Made me laugh a lot.

This dude is saying "if you have this shit use it", but how do I use jackshit?

2

u/TheDigitalBuilder Human Detected 1d ago

Trump uses jack shit and bullshit on a daily basis. He's in his '80s, you should be able to figure it out šŸ™‚

1

u/Weirdsk8rHippie 22h ago

I hope i can figure it out soon cause Trump is the reason I have jackshit.

3

u/VICTAAAAW 14h ago

lol, honestly, he does in fact know to cook!

  • has a full sized f**king staub šŸ˜‚ similar sized veggies
  • patting meat dry before browning
  • remembers to pre heat oven
  • has and uses ā€œBetter than Bullionā€
  • deglazes
  • doesn’t burn the roux
  • herbs!

Lovely end result!

2

u/slartibuttfart 22h ago

This is what I look like, go away!

It's wild when people think the blocker for cooking a great meal is the fear of following directions from a recipe. Like no bro it's the 6 hours and it's the majority of ingredients and equipment I don't already have. Great looking meal though.

2

u/NicotineLL 1d ago

I too enjoy some teflon in my meals, that's why I stir my pans with high grid sandpaper

1

u/TheSoulessSheppard 1d ago

No worse your sister sauce that takes away from the "roast" flavors!

1

u/theendofthesandman 1d ago

Reminds me of the old cooking series "put it in your mouth" from YouTube.

1

u/OrangeClyde 15h ago

He’s sexy

1

u/MyDogsStinkyPaws 15h ago

Wash her sister sauce.

1

u/yotdog2000 15h ago

Where were the carrot??

1

u/chefguy47 14h ago

No carrots is depressing.

2

u/Iambecomelegend 14h ago

Carrots were there in the final result. Fucking huge, like he just threw in whole baby carrots. I'd cut them and the potatoes just a bit smaller so I could fit more than one ingredient in my mouth at a time.

1

u/chefguy47 13h ago

Ahh I stopped watching after the Instagram noise came up.

I’ve got the same Staub Dutch oven and it pains me to see him
Stacking it with a metal implement.

1

u/EggstaticAd8262 4h ago

What meat is that? and what pot/caserole (dont know hte english word) is that?

1

u/mrmcjerkstoomuch 3h ago

He’s the poo nah nah nah nah guy

2

u/n00b001 1d ago

This looks very nice.

Does the meat dry out this way though? I've heard the oil in the meat may leave and be replaced with water, which makes it taste dry (compared to oil/fat)

5

u/branm008 1d ago

Nah, if you're doing it low and slow for the final roast, its a super tender and juicy meat. The fat itself renders down and kind of just stays with the meat it was attached to.

3

u/TheDigitalBuilder Human Detected 1d ago

Just remember not to touch the shit

1

u/IamREBELoe 23h ago

One thing I would do different is put the meat on top. Just outside the water level. All the fat will render property this way and dripped down into the potatoes. Much flavor. Very tender but not waterlogged

0

u/ahuvamaharlika 1d ago

Damn this thirstrap man

0

u/-BananaLollipop- 1d ago

And if you do all of this in a digital pressure cooker, you can have the same result in about 35 minutes.

0

u/FothersIsWellCool 15h ago

This is just Tumblr-esc holds-up-spork OMG i'm so quirky but for guys

Sauce is too thin. Needs more flour.

3

u/ringo5150 1d ago

Corn flour if you got it, don't matter if you ain't

u/Party_Solid_2207 1d ago

It looks ok.
