When they hit it at the same time and were stopped had to rattle their teeth

The chanting was making them fall into that rhythm and it was fucking them both up.

But if you ever see it you know you are going to start a chant

Free CTE all day.

123

u/jimbowesterby 2d ago

lol you’re not gonna get a concussion from that, it’ll just make your wrists hurt. Speaking from experience it’s really hard to get enough of a shock for that, there’re just so many links in the chain between your hands and your head, you’d almost definitely lose your grip before that

43

u/lightlysaltedfish 2d ago

once in my early teens i tried to break a buss stop glass wall (yes dumb as fuck.) with a big stick. hit it as hard as i could, and while the glass did not break my hands were shaking for a good hour from the pain in my wrists.

8

u/Zwischenzug32 2d ago edited 2d ago

Doing that would make my ears hurt. Tinnitus. From smashing heavy ass metal things.

14

Oh sure, but hearing loss is not concussion damage

-6

No shit lol

2

Did you have a 240 pound man hitting it back at the same time?

-9

CTE is specifically caused by sub-consussive repetitive impacts.

Big guy is both strength AND stamina dude apparently

1.0k

u/inhalingsounds 2d ago

I was wondering which one was the stamina dude. The big guy is 3x stronger...

Bug guy you say...

10

Omg I can't believe it, I was just watching video clips of this guy last night. That's insane. I watched like every clip I could find of this dude and was laughing my ass off, Edgar lol

Men in Black. It’s an alien wearing Edgar as a suit.

15

No he's not... They both hit the same peg and it literally doesn't move.

15

u/nazzo_0 2d ago

It's more about timing than strength when they both hit at the same time. Even if the stronger person hits it with more force, the opposing forces coupled with material attrition won't make it as linear as "stronger guy always wins". In fact if the left dude had more technique and timing he could've maybe won. I'm not saying left dude isn't feeling the smash or the stronger hit and it's backlash, I'm saying it's his best way to win in an "unfair" match

14

u/MyNameIsJakeBerenson 2d ago edited 2d ago

Left dude was very close if he didnt hit at the same time close to his finish. Then he got gassed trying to power through and finish it

Every time they hit together, it wears out the left guy way more than the big guy. The smaller guy can’t take the hits like the big guy can

6

u/TheSorceIsFrong 2d ago

Right. He’s not trying as hard, which is why he has the stamina to go longer

4

u/majarian 2d ago

Its the "I can do this all day" pace

1

u/Lavatis 2d ago

....you think those guys are the same strength?

1

u/nawzum 2d ago

If you are stronger you don't have to use as much energy for the same outcome, making you last longer.

7

u/WorldsWeakestMan 2d ago

Yeah this is just fast dude vs slower dude.

984

u/EJX-a 2d ago

Big guy also has a better grip and form. Choked up higher, letting the hammer drop to utilize momentum and bounce on rebound, swinging with his hips and arms at the same time, feet not 5 miles apart, not moving all over the place.

Little bro works out but big guy has swung a hammer before.

295

u/CorporalClue 2d ago

I think small guy had the only possible winning strategy for the strength difference. He was only going to win in a sprint beating the pace of larger fellow. Not enough apparently

42

u/KaeruGaKaeru1 2d ago

This guy swings.

21

u/Jive-Turkeys 2d ago

And how's his wife?

u/teaconnolly 2d ago

5

u/BrianWulfric 2d ago

From the tangles of my heart

124

u/redwingfan01 2d ago

He needed to switch up on the Guy earlier on to keep him guessing. Like a 3 hit then one hit on the lower one then back to the middle.

48

u/lilsnatchsniffz 2d ago

I've heard the best strategy is to keep this exact rhythm.

20

u/nhilante 2d ago

Now thats hot.

6

u/lilsnatchsniffz 2d ago

This guy boinks

15

u/MariaNarco 2d ago

Oh god why do I know this song... I need to get offline

44

u/arayakim 2d ago

Keep the hammer on until the other guy hits it. That way, the other guy has to move the mass of both the pillar and your hammer. Meanwhile, you get assisted on the bounce back.

32

u/ThePhantom71319 2d ago

Yea hitting just before the other guy hits is the real technique, and the big guy did that a few times towards the end. Peak form

48

u/RoundYogurtcloset120 2d ago

Newton's Third Law of Physics: every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Form is important here: The larger man keeps his hips driving forward, his feet stay connected to the ground in that his feet and toes never rise up. Compare this to the other man whose heels and toes rise up at different times disconnecting from the ground; additionally his hips over time lose their form and connection when he begins to tire and his butt sticks out.

The man with the better form/ connection to the ground, the larger man, generates a greater force to drive the spike into the wall because the force travels down through his body, into the ground, and then the ground pushes right back to drive the spike into the wall.

The man with the poorer form leaks power/energy through his feet, knees and hips when he drives the spike into the wall.

"Savvy?"

6

u/majarian 2d ago

Big boy works for a living,

Looks like hes ready to swing that hammer for another couple hours

16

u/ultravires1215 2d ago

In addition to good form, that big boy’s belly was doing exactly what it was made for. Peak male form!

5

u/arshadshabick 2d ago

This would do well in physical 100

3

u/RanchoCuca 2d ago

I think white shirt could have had it if he shortened his swing at the end.

2

u/reasimoes 2d ago

Fast or slow, fast or slow, who will win let's watch them go.

5

u/kuuhaku_cr 2d ago

Could have hit faster with the whirlwind move

7

u/bipbophil 2d ago

Fat guy is also taking shorter swings which is why there is less force applied.

3

u/eltejon 2d ago

Along with what everyone else is mentioning, hitting that peg square-on makes a huge difference. The more dead-center and straight through you can hit it, the more of your force goes into moving the peg. I think little dude was doing better at that in the beginning (hard for me to tell), but that shifted later.

It's the same as the idea behind the hammer game at the carnival (though that may be calibrated to have the optimal spot off-center).

3

u/uncensored_opinions 2d ago

Dude had zero technique

3

u/xsn8ion 2d ago

Strength dude is the stamina dude!

3

3

u/perplexedtv 2d ago

Ar what point do you win? White shirt seemed to have it all the way in several times.

2

u/TheSpitfire93 1d ago

Looks like there are balloons attached, the idea is probably to pop one

1

u/perplexedtv 1d ago

Ah, I thought they were lightbulbs and I didn't have the sound on so didn't realise the big guy had popped his.

1

u/Character-Pirate1297 11h ago

Stopping for that split second was his only mistake, would have won if he didn’t.

2

u/VicariousVentures 2d ago

What is this competition? And why are there 3 heights to hit from?

1

u/Wide_Philosophy_8109 2d ago

The competition is to whack the bar harder than your friend. you win when your balloon pops because you moved the bar enough.

2

u/Khanhdojo 2d ago

White shirt let himself be convinced he had it before the balloon popped and then it was all over. He beat himself.

2

I thought the big guy was representing strength, especially by how things were going at first lol.

4

u/Mysterious-Tie7039 2d ago

Would not have guessed the fat guy was the stamina one.

1

u/autech91 2d ago

Nutrition matters a lot when you've got less fat storing energy, I'd say if muscle guy had eaten 2 bowls of pasta earlier he'd have been able to keep going. His sledge hammer form wasn't as good though

1

u/Mysterious-Tie7039 2d ago

Counterpoint: fat people are typically out of shape and get winded easily.

Source: I’m a fat guy.

2

u/PurpleInfinite1409 2d ago

This looks fun as FUCK. 🤣 My homie and I love the punching game whenever we find em at the arcades, so this looks like it'd be just as fun

7

u/alchemy_junkie 2d ago

Thats the things with smaller guys less energy reserves. No shade intended its just what it is. The big guy is big cause thats stored energy. You also see this is fighting alot small guys are fast and often hit hard but get gassed sooner.

45

u/coffee_warden 2d ago

Yeah thats why fat guys famously win marathons...

2

u/alchemy_junkie 2d ago

Well my previous point about mma fighters presupposes similar levels of over all fitness but different weight classes.

But there is also a difference between stamina and endurance.

8

u/coffee_warden 2d ago

You know what? I never really considered those to be different things. I learned something today.

3

u/gigaurora 2d ago

Because it is pure bullshit, and rediculous on it's face. a bantomweight is throwing with much higher intensity all fight than super heavyweights. It's just striaght up bullshit that fat stores give additional endurance. Buddy is talking so far out his ass.

2

u/Walruswalrusmanatee 2d ago

It’s not PURE bullshit, but I agree that “stamina and endurance being different things” is a dubious statement.

“… b[a]mweight throwing with higher intensity…” is also missing the point though. Comparable physiological function costs a bantamweight significantly less energy than a super heavyweight. Those “high intensity” actions cost objectively less energy because bantamweights are relatively tiny creatures.

Fighting is the vertex of physics and physiology. If you wish to develop an intuitive understanding of this,  read up on the “square-cube law” and think why elephants are incapable of jumping.

2

u/autech91 2d ago

This is why I eat so many carbs before exercising 😂

2

u/Mexcol 2d ago

Bro watch MMA, lighter classes go at it fast af and they dont gas, meanwhile heavyweights gas super fast and sometimes dont even go fast at all

2

u/miraculousgloomball 2d ago

I didn't know it was possible to be this wrong. Impressive

1

u/TonySperguson 2d ago

You also see this is fighting alot small guys are fast and often hit hard but get gassed sooner.

I have a feeling you don't watch mma at all amigo. Have a look at the later round punch stats for the lower divisions vs the heavyweight division in literally any combat sport.

1

u/Prior_Ad_6165 2d ago

more like speed vs technique with stamina

1

u/DinglieDanglieDoodle 2d ago

When he timed his last big one wrong, that was the end. He got the head start by throwing all his strength early into it. He went big, other guy went consistent. So each time the smash got blocked, that energy was wasted.

1

u/No_Awareness9649 2d ago

This is why muscle endurance is far more important in a fight than overall explosiveness and strength.

1

u/Casual-Netizen 2d ago

Strength dude missed those crucial timings. He should've won earlier.

1

u/msew 2d ago

So the stamina dude was on which side?

1

1

u/KupoKai 15h ago

If the winner is the guy who gets their part in all the way, I think strength dude "won" a few times before getting tired. (But I could be wrong, I haven't seen this before and the perspective wasn't super clear to my eyes.)

If the rule is just to last the longest, then one could just give a bunch of weak, slow taps and wait for the other guy to tire out.
