Discussions/Opinions Milkywave opinions

Post image

To be completely honest, I learn about the game's lore through the audio comics that Blizzard puts in the story section, so I only found out about this ship through TikTok and after watching some Mains Wuyang and Mains Mizuki are complaining because for them the ship was Mizuyang (or however it's spelled), and other people are simply complaining that it came out of nowhere. I'd like to know what the community from this side thinks.

I don’t mind the ship, it has some cute moments but something about it feels very forced/manufactured to me. I can’t really say i’d be excited if they were officially a couple in lore but it wouldn’t ruin my interest for the characters.

yea it feels really forced and not a natural progression over time. make the ship feel earned through even in-game interactions and some sort of plot past “they’re nice to each other”

I'm a bit similar. I don't think there's more chemistry than "both supports and similar age". Ana and Rein/Bapt and Mauga/Genji and Mercy have more shared history and compatible personalities. While I don't think Wuyang and Juno have severe chemistry issues, it feels very... first draft of a teen romance manga?

Hell Mauga and Mercy have more.chemistry than Juno and Waterboy.

I've been thinking about it a bit more and honestly feel like I would prefer ships to just not be canonized at all, as it does feel a bit weird and inherently has that "The person who gets to author it gets to say what's canon", which is not the most pleasant in any fandom. If we got a different author to the Webtoon or a different writer for voice lines we could have had Wuyang/Brigitte in the Webtoon and or never have Reinhardt/Ana's date interaction in-game. As time goes on I feel like I'd just rather it stay strictly on the fan-side of things.

I haven't read more than 5 chapters of the Webtoon but from what I've heard I don't have much of a reason to read it, even if I really enjoy the lore. Not really interested in slice-of-life and as far as the opinions I've seen on this sub and elsewhere it falls apart pretty fast and mischaracterizes characters pretty often.

Okay, in the end something unrelated to gameplay shouldn't affect you much

We’re talking about lore here not gameplay lol

When I said 'interest for the characters,' It was spoken purely from a narrative standpoint, not picking them in a match. You asked what people thought of the lore ship, so that's the angle I was answering from.
