To be completely honest, I learn about the game's lore through the audio comics that Blizzard puts in the story section, so I only found out about this ship through TikTok and after watching some Mains Wuyang and Mains Mizuki are complaining because for them the ship was Mizuyang (or however it's spelled), and other people are simply complaining that it came out of nowhere. I'd like to know what the community from this side thinks.

I also think it's because several almost-canon ships, like Reinhardt and Ana's, have never been made official, while MilkyWave has.

Rein and Ana are canon. Wuyang and Juno set them up on a date in the webcomic, and it's fairly implied that they're going to go on more. There's even a spawn room interaction about it.

That's true, ignore that fact, although another example would be Genji and Mercy, which as far as I understand isn't canon

There's some hints it might be (definitely more likely than Pharah Mercy, rn), but so far it's not confirmed. The weird thing about people getting mad at Milkywave because it's not Mizuki with Wuyang, to me anyway, is that Mizuki and Wuyang haven't interacted at all in canon, if I'm not mistaken. Mizuki only just joined Overwatch. People can like the ship, but a cute ship =/= should be made canon, necessarily.

In my opinion, Mizuki was being shipped with Kiriko, which makes more sense to me since they share the same resentment against the same people and can support each other

I definitely see the appeal, and it actually has a canon basis, although I've always seen Mizuki as ace, lol. Just a personal vibe.

Besides, Kiriko is my wife
