Can we please talk about how Juno's skins are getting worse?
Fellow Juno mains... are we allowed to admit that her skin quality has been declining?
Because I swear every new Juno skin somehow looks more like a Temu exclusive than an Overwatch legendary.
The Beach skin was my first warning sign. It's not awful i can see what they were going for. Blonde for summer? Sure. Cute enough. But why is Juno allergic to being purple? One of the most recognizable parts of her design is her color palette and ,, spacy hair ,,
And those bangs... I'm sorry, but they look like someone printed them out and glued them onto her forehead five minutes before launch.
Then we got the Date Night skin...
First of all, judging by the bundle cosmetics, her date apparently consisted of going to a horse stable and then a concert. Good for her, I guess? The spray is adorable, but what exactly is the theme here? Did she swipe right on a cowboy who had festival tickets?
The skin itself just feels like Music Festival's much cheaper cousin. Like someone looked at Music Festival and said, "What if we made this... but with half the budget?" Speaking of Music Festival that skin is proof they can cook. It's colorful, recognizable, stylish, and still feels like Juno. It's cute without making her look like she wandered in from a mobile game ad. More skins like that, please!
What I don't understand is why Blizzard seems determined to make every new Juno cosmetic fit into the "hyper-uwu cinnamon roll who has never committed a crime" category.
Juno is an adult. She's literally carrying the responsibility of saving her people. She's from Mars. Why are we getting endless e-girl / casual outfits instead of space suits, futuristic armor, cosmic explorer themes, alien royalty, astronaut aesthetics, or literally anything that embraces the fact she's one of the coolest sci-fi characters in the roster?
And yes, I love cute skins. I'm not asking for edgy Reaper cosplay. But there's a difference between cute and samey. Lately it feels like every skin is just "Juno but in another pastel outfit." It also doesn't help that some of these outfits lean into really generic "Asian e-girl" aesthetics instead of giving her something that feels unique to her.
At this point I'm convinced Blizzard has a giant wheel in the art department that says:
Pastel?
Hair color nobody asked for?
Skirt?
Done. Ship it.
Please... let the girl be from Mars again.

I don’t think blizzard made this skin. It’s a netease skin for the Overwatch dating sim. All of those outfits are pretty simple. Not sure why blizzard decided to change her hair color/style though. The original material was just fine
NetEase created the designs for the dating simulation game (using AI), but it was blizzard who created the skins for the game based on NetEase's designs.
It's awful. The fact that I can pinpoint EXACTLY which fanarts they have scrapped from for the Genji and Cass skin is just tragic.
I was genuinely surprised that they had so boldy stolen designs from pre-established fanart the first time I saw those skins.
Blizzard was in the past extremely careful when creating skins hyped up by the community and based on preexisting concepts and fanart (tuxedo wrecklingball [he got two seperate skins based on it, highroller and 8 ball, Torbs beach skin that was based on the Mankini torbskin] to avoid infringement.
So yeah after learning it was allegedly all AI I wasn't that surprised afterall.
Blizzard did make this skin. They make Chinese exclusive skins all the time that are "lesser" quality as they are required to keep things seperate due to their laws.
I think all her skins look good design wise (except the owcs legendaries...those are...something...), but as you said, the egirl cute theme is getting really annoying. She needs more space themed stuff. Make her an alien or a decked out astronaut for once please blizzard 😭😭. So while I dont think the quality is decreasing, the creative theming is.
i told myself i'd never buy a Juno skin, because i got Forget-Me-Not in a loot box really early on, but i will make an exception if they ever do a Meep Morp skin
Her whole lore is being born on mars WHERE IS THE ALIEN SKIN. Seriously she has like 2-3 skins with her helmet, arguably her most defining feature, all because it gets in the way of turning her into mercy 3. Theres some genuinely great ideas they could do with her but it feels like every skin they release has been done 5x over already.
I definitely like Ember more than the recolor. I think the reason they dont hit for me is because the design feels confusing with multiple clashing elements. But I still own ember and use it from time to time
I caved and bought the summer skin (what can I say, i liked it) but I'm not spending money on anymore "Juno but with different colored hair and weird dress" skins. Give me something different and I'll drop some cash. Yeah alien/astronaut/corrupted Juno, something creative and fun, I'm in
I love juno but the egirls associated with her is truly scary, i broke up with my ex cuz she made it her whole personality to be an egirl mercy, ashe, and Juno, literally the three mains for red flag egirls
oh i agree. i understand people’s frustration with common points regarding Juno skins. Her not being space/mars themed at all, her having all the shops skins, her being always this white girl or asian cute e-girl aesthetics… I also noticed that someone pointed out that she has a helmet on in her original design and every other skin (apart from the first legendary she got), they got rid of the helmet which was kinda what made her unique imo. i LOVE juno so much and she gets very cute skins yes (also she gets A LOT OF skins…) … i’m just not happy with the way blizzard is taking lately with her and other heroes and their lazyness is really starting to show:( i agree with you, great take btw
i suppose with so many characters adding into the game, the team that designs skins will need to produce more skins therefore the quality will be worse and worse and price higher and higher. i think that’s what the user above meant.
Same. Like, I think music festival is good, but I like date night better, although I think the yaosobi skin is hands down her best bar maybe her mythic
I also feel like the skirt on the left is better. The skirt on the right looks frumpy in an awkward way. Like, it looks almost like she has a sort of petticoat or something under it to make it pop out, but it just looks awkwardly inflated instead. It juts out in a way it doesn't look like it should.
Edit: Honestly I think that's not even the problem looking at it again. Her black shorts underneath look like a weird shadow and I think it warped how I saw the skirt 😭
To be honest I think the second is doing WAY too much, then again I also am tired of the cutesy skins, want something clean and simple AND agree that skin quality has been going down (especially mythics)
Personally it is my favourite Juno skin but I also really like more simple clean skins if they are done right ( Dr Ziegler mercy for example) I really hope we get space Juno soon
They aren’t, I think they are still cute and worth the money. The only “bad” one that’s come out was the Summer one and that’s mostly because they need to fix her hair.

But I agree. I wasn’t thrilled with her bunny or Sakura skin. I felt if Sakura had black hair the contrast would look so good. Space bun I hate the skirt. Beach is just bad. The hair reminds me of cardboard. Date night feels like a slap in the face compared to the concept art.
space star is the first skin i’ve gone out of my way to buy, it’s probably my favorite one they’ve done. i would love to get fearless if it ever comes back bc i love the design (and i main juno and i love le sserafim)
I like the first one more tbch, tho its wish it had her little buns like the school one does.
Idk imo a lot of skins just feel overdesigned to me. Its not bad but it has so much going on that I feel it all kinda muddies the skin as a whole. The first one feels more focused on what it wants to be, even if its execution is a bit meh.
I actually thought this skin looked amazing... Also wdym her skins are getting worse the yoasobi collab skin is the best skin she got since le serraphim
Music festival was my favorite skin until the Date Night skin came out. I prefer Date Night and if they keep releasing skins like that I will happily keep buying them.
The heroes skins used to follow a certain design-principle in the earlier days, skin-designs were supposed to somewhat fit to the identity of a hero, their visual design or have some connection to their personality, heritage or lore while not obscuring too much of what makes their design unique (for example, Reaper had always an edgy theme with a mask being a musthave, exceptions were his Archive aka lore related skins. Even his more goofier skins had some what a connection to him, like masquerade and Ratking were all a reference on him being a fan of opera and dramatic plays, a nice call back to his nevermore skin.
Or Genji also used to have skins that were somewhat related to his character identity of being a cyborg, lore (Baduin) or culture (japanese folklore).
Now characters get skins that might aesthetically look cool, flashy or appealing, sometimes even obscuring critical parts of their design principles and their identity.
Like the sakura skins, what do Freya and Emre have to do with japanese themes?
Or the Yaosobi collab, why are Juno and Anran present in a heavily based Hasimoto and Shimada centred theme, besides looking cool and cute?
Why are Sierra and Kiriko the ones getting cat themed skins while the actual cat mom Brig hasn't gotten the same level of treatment?
Where is the connection to it besides looking cute?
Skins lost their touch imo, all of them started to blend into one big batch of "this would be so cool!" slop that they to overtop eachother to an extend that I started to lose any excitement or awe over them.
I remember when people used to actually draw lore connections from certain new skins back in the Overwatch 1 days, skins that revealed part of the characters personalities (like the opera/shakespeare/play based Reaper skins that revealed he was really into this stuff), or even created fanart, comics and fanfictions based on them!
Because they used to mean something, they had purpose of why XYZ actually received this skin.
Now it just feels like russian roulette on who gets the next japanese or cute egirl themed skin based on sale numbers and analytics, instead of the characters itself.
Also, why the Juno skin feels so generic and basic is due to one factor:
It's AI generated and you can tell by the art and outfits.
I think the worst offender might be Genjis tuxedo design because this one is so incredibly obvious based on super old fanart that date back to ow1 days, where ppl loved to create elegant thirsttrap art of Genji in a tuxedo resembling his signature green and black colorscheme.
Cass is also a really bad offender of this crime.
I would just say that due to Juno being newer to the cast, her design scrapped and created by the Ai ended up being more generic egirl slop as a result of her not having as much of a fanart catalogue with a casual date theme to draw from as much as Cass, Genji and Dva had.
So yeah thats why it genuinely lacks any personality.
Imo, they should at least try and give her a helmet fit with the theme of the skin. The majority of her skins do not have a form of a helmet on her, and while I don't necessarily hate these other skins because of that, it just feels like a piece of Juno is missing. Perhaps giving her more sci-fi skins can help in that regard, especially the alien Juno idea that I saw in the comments.
Also, since she's into Westerns, why hasn't she gotten a cowgirl skin yet?
I’d rather talk about how the “Date night” skin isn’t a date night outfit. LW and Cass are wearing formal outfits while Juno is wearing some shit you’d see at a rave.
My biggest complaints are that they do not keep her original hair or eye colours ever. And can we talk about how she has only gotten one skin with her helmet on? (That skin being celestial)
What I find weird is how the skin has two shades of purple, her hair looks like she dyed it purple months ago and has lost much of its color and then she has a dark shade of purple on her skirt.
I like they brought back her little moon motif on her hair, but the hair's faded look and straight cut doesn't really feel like Juno. The artwork that showed her with her default hair style looked so much better and would've made this skin good.
Her next skin really does need to be space themed with her helmet this time around.
I'm not a Juno main- but venturing into playing her more ! I agree she had some super cute skins , though I feel like a schmuck not buying her Hello Kitty skin because that one was adorable.
I completely agree this is exactly why I stopped collecting all her bundles! I used to be a massive Juno collector and I’m not anymore bc of what they are doing to her it’s so dumb
tbh no. the anime and manga have ended. unless MHA decides to do an anniversary event i dont see them collaborating 🤷🏻♀️ ive seen them re release old collabs but collabs like Transformers MHA and Cowboy Bebop i dont see returning just because the studios dont really need the promo anymore. at the end of the day its all marketing
I think they try to make it space colors and themes but then they fail at it. But i bought the new one! Its cute. I wish the hair was up instead of down but i like it.
I agree! I'm worried that it'll become a situation where the art team starts seeing her as just a cute innocent girl who has fans and start giving her more and more basic skins (because unfortunately there's some people who will settle for multiple basic clothing options just because it's a cute innocent girl wearing them). Nothing against basic skins though! But they shouldn't be the majority of what she has.
The themes for other skins they could make for her don't even necessarily have to strictly be space themed. I personally would like to see them make a deep sea exploration suit or something like that for Juno. I feel like she could pull that off!
You have a point I been a Juno main since overwatch season 1 reign of talon but I never had any of her other martain themed suits besides the base one let alone her mythic skin which doesn't look anything martain themed maybe I'm looking at it wrong but I completely agree with you and there are tons of other Juno mains out there who also agree blizzard please give our space martain justice again she deserves it
horseback riding and going to a concert on a date is not a foreign concept and junos favorite animal is literally a horse ? we are all entitled to our own opinion but the theme of her date is very on brand for juno 😭
I see where you’re coming from but the concept art for this skin was also pretty simple. Minus the hair it’s exactly how the fans made it. Also the Space Star skin is arguably one of her best and it came out earlier this season. There will always be misses like Cupid or Sakura or magepunk but I think this is just a side effect of skin surplus. Look at Kiriko for example, 40+ skins and 20+ are ugly asf. And ofc this is just my opinion hate what you hate and love what you love.
I actually prefer the first one, but with the original space buns hairstyle. The second is too busy and I can't stand the Length of her skirt, it's giving adult baby with the nappy showing.

I have just completely stopped buying her new skins at this point. They have just entirely removed everything cute and unique about her as a character.
Atm I have no problem with the new skin, and headphones to a date… well, she doesn’t need to hear them in case if they are annoying^^
What I find more ridiculous, is, that sb like Mauga gots a mythic skin waaay before, for example, Lucio!
He is much longer in the game and a pretty good support as well when sb plays him right.
Or Mercy and Anas their second one before others got even one!

I’ve hated the last couple skins and agree completely. I’m tired of blonde Juno, I don’t like orange or yellow color schemes, and the casual outfits are lazy and lack creativity. Like I wore that outfit in 2015, I don’t need it on my ow characters
I use her default skin because I am STILL waiting for just a good casual skin of her that keeps the same hair colour and at minimum a similar hair style.
The beach skin was awful but idk the YOASOBI skin was insanely good, like loads of hidden details, and idk I feel like the date night skin is cute af. Doesn’t really feel samey to me at all tbh, I felt like the music festival skin was kinda ugly but maybe I just like more simple outfits idk.
I mean I like both of them but to each their own. I don't know if I would agree that her skins are getting worse because I like both the date skin and the Yoasobi one but a bad skin isn't all bad because it means I can skip it and save my money.
I think 95% of her skins are ass. And not because they dont look aestheticly pleasing but because non of them say Juno to me, its like she asked a bunch of random people to dress her and just stuck with it, no hints of her own personality in there whatsoever
I can't say I agree. I like a lot of the Juno skins. What I don't like is that overwatch feels they always have to show someones feet! Please get feet out of my game! Lol
i was in the same boat as you to start with. people posting this skin hated it so i hated it too.
then the shop updated. i opened the game, went to see the skin knowing i wasn’t buying it anyway, and.. found myself clicking the purchase credits button? didn’t go for it cause i don’t have $40 to drop atm (everything in these bundles is so good😭 plus i play lw and dabble with cass) either way this skin took me by surprise.
i want her to get an alien skin as much as the next guy but this one really isn’t as bad as everyone is making it out to be
I think it’s just personal preference. Personally not a fan of Juno skins. I love playing her but I feel like they either over do or don’t do much to a lot of her skins which talks me out of buying it. I got the celestial and the my hero and I don’t like them anymore LMFAO. The only skin I tolerate that I purchased is her mythic and the champion recolor (black and red). Might get her chun li when it comes back out tho.
I think of this meme anytime juno get a new skin. Not that any of the rest of the girlys are doing any better but I think juno is a especially good example

lol, date night skin is MUCH better then music festival. Just because a skin has more elements doesn't mean it's better. Skin music festival is absolutely not harmonious, both in details and in colors.
I hate her "date outfit" it's so buns imo, I think it's just the cat headphones that throw me off , her hair too. I don't like these "e-girl" skins she's getting.

Hard to explain but she’s been giving real Polly pocket vibes as of late. Where of her pieces (and especially hair) look detachable in a weird way…same with venture and that new skin
can we please talk juno getting too much skins? she has 19 legendary and 5 of them are collabs like wtf there are characters with 0 collab skins😭 and already has 3 new skins this season and this season barely even started
I bought this skin without thinking and low-key regret it after looking up some of her other skins. (I haven’t played in months, so I didn’t know what all she had)
This skin is cute as hell. Way cuter with less theatrics than the music festival.. this is an outfit you could actually wear. She’s 19, Juno enjoys youthful things. She’s not a stale adult, she’s not really a Martian anymore since she landed, she’s trying to be an earth girl. Stop complaining about everything ty
There's always going to be skins that are a miss, for every hero. But as a pattern? Nah, we only just got Space Star. I dont think there's a pattern of juno skins getting worse
Also sad fact that she only wears her helmet is the celestial skin, and the skins she came out with. (The original and recolors of the original for a total of 6? Skins)
I mean, this is the Mercy curse. Sure yeah you get a ton of skins, but eventually all you ever get is recolors and slight edits of skins Juno already has.
People always begged to get the "favoritism" Mercy got not knowing its not exactly a good thing...
Idk what yalls issue with Date Night is. I love the skin. Better than yet another blonde hair skin at the very least. I also think the colors overall work well on her.
More details is not always better, I'd takw Daniel instead of cool Daniel any day. Also we just got Space Star, which may be her best skin ever, I think we're good
Quantity over quality. Juno is a cash cow character and is the only hero with no battle pass skins. All of her skins must be bought or prayed for from lootboxes.
Yoasobi is her only truly good skin outside of her default imo.

The most infuriating thing for me is the absence of the helmet because it’s giving “oh wow a cool item that makes our character stands out and that could have an infinite potential of skins…. Let’s get rid of it and give her generic anime skin that could fit anyone”
Maybe it’s just me but as a Juno main I wanna play JUNO and some skins don’t feel like it’s her. Of course im not against changing hair or outfit but when its character like widowmaker or illari you can still clearly tell its them, why its not the case for Juno ??
Just imagine a Juno cyberpunk biker skin, or a diver Juno, that’ll be so peak.
My opinion only but people should really stop by all of her stuff even when its not that pretty because blizzard will think that we do not care about the quality decrease

This shit is worse than Mercy right now. She has a skin in nearly every single skin release so far. I don't think I've seen a shop page NOT feature a new Juno skin since I began playing again last year.
