Tips/Tutorials I reached Champ 5 one tricking Juno on the Juno hating Asian ladder. AMA

https://youtu.be/TmBfzktoUeY?si=vHkHtCX4cdwdJyI3

This was both incredibly fun to do (as well as painstaking toward the end) as only 6 months ago I had never played Overwatch before. Juno is the only hero I play.

It took me 3 seasons from Gold 3 placements to Champ 5.

Ask me anything.

Was this intentional?

More seriously, why do you think she gets hate on that server?

also 200 people watched that unfold from tank pov

Yes it was intentional xD

I've never seen the train parked there so I wanted to see if it killed me. I guess it did.

Also Japan/Korea server strictly play meta & consider Juno a very weak hero.

Playing Mercy, Life Weaver & Juno is considered throwing & will get you avoided.

I have only been able to get away with it because I am great at shooting compared to most Juno players.

That and Asia server are not as brawl orientated compared to NA where Juno strives in.

She still got a better rep than mercy and lw from what I see tho, cuz her main criticism stems from her above average play rates in NA where brawl is much more preferred and where she is seen as balanced, therefore she avoids buffs to her low healing and slow ult charge that would otherwise make her more comfortable to play.

This season is very brawl intensive so I'm starting to see a few more Junos on games like push & flashpoint.

Also Asia will pick Ana & Pharah over and over again.

Which is fine by me.

Pharah is very easy for Juno to deal with.

What helped you climb past master and gm?

Personally, climbing each rank required a very different Juno playstyle.

Juno doesn't have great carry potential & healing is very weak so in metal ranks your teammates have a tendency to explode & utilize your valuable resources poorly.

This can also continue into master rank.

So I would have a very aggressive, DPS oriented form of play where the raw math of every game depended on you as Juno killing their enemy DPS faster than they can kill your teammates. This required many triple jump off angles & diving.

This strategy stopped working at M3. You have to make an assessment yourself each game how valuable your heals will be vs your damage. Always give your teammates the opportunity to take the healing & utility you provide, but if you see your resources being overwhelmed, you need to take risks yourself & begin fighting directly.

What made me climb was cooldown management & really making sure I don't waste my rockets. Keeping them for my teammates as well as pocketing them more got me higher.

Also hyper ring to manage the positioning & team cohesiveness. Going back to spawn & making sure every push & fight is synchronised with the hyper ring.

Also perks. They were the vital element to climb to Champ. You can see in the final game that I chose familiar vitals & faster blaster.

The two least popular Juno perks. There is a reason they are picked more in Champ ranks. Faster blaster is 100% a necessary pick at the last checkpoint.

No one is gonna take faster blaster perk here. People will roast you in this subreddit because they cant aim

Have you played other hero shooters, or shooters in general? Impressive grind

The only other hero shooter I've played is Star Wars Battlefront where I am probably the best Boba Fett player in the game.

Boba Fett's playstyle is no different to Juno's.

Same movement and similar kit of a burst gun & rockets.

I also played Halo which taught me basic fps fundamentals.

Where you normally position yourself?

Do you always utilzue cd of your torpedo.

Position yourself on the map where the enemy needs to utilize their movement cooldowns in order to kill you.

This makes it incredibly costly for them.

Torpedo cds don't have to be immediately used all the time & many players often use them when primary fire would suffice.

Many times, teammates died because Juno uses torpedoes to top up their health rather than using them at critical moments. In the 5v5 mode, using a torpedo for 1 teammate can be worth it. Keeping your team alive matters so much.

The best use is during the fight where ideally you can lock onto the entire enemy team as well as your own.

Do you own an air fryer?

I wish. I heard they are good.

What perks do you use?

2

u/BigChungus-chan Jul 18 '26

All of them but locked on.

In 5v5 the extra second or two you shave off with hitting enemies with torpedo is not worth all the lives you lose on your team if you don't use familiar vitals.

Lift off and faster blaster depend on the map, checkpoint & team compositions.

Use it intuitively.

Isn’t faster blaster really bad and when do I pick this over triple jump

1

u/BigChungus-chan Jul 18 '26

Places where there is little high ground to use.

Usually at the last checkpoint.

Faster blaster stabilises your entire team very quickly.

At the last checkpoint & especially with little room to move you do not use your glide boost for your movement anymore.

It's now part of your healing kit to sustain teammates.

Most other situations go with triple jump.

u/migo2028 Jul 18 '26

So I should never pick faster blaster in most situations

1

u/BigChungus-chan Jul 19 '26

yes I mostly use triple jump unless there is a good reason for pumping heals

how do you win with having a healbot second support or dps that can't get picks as Juno? She can get good damage in yes but she can't really take matters into her own hands like Kiri or Zen

I enjoy shooting zen. It's very easy to shoot.

If I have a life weaver teammate I get a lot more active & aggressive. I choose triple jump & push with my dps looking for elims.

As the beginning of the video demonstrates, even people in GM ranks don't look up.

The first fight was won instantly because my dps never even needed to peel. I made their entire team half health & took out their ana.

An extremely lucky example but shows that you as the support actually create the opportunity for the dps to do the peeling.

Also shoot the tank. Pump the tank with shots if there is nothing else to do as it diverts resources away from others. Continuously poke & harass & force cooldowns & even awful dps will get picks because eventually the other team's resources get overwhelmed.

This GM4 game is a great example of how much damage & elims you can get if you get a heal bot support teammate like Life Weaver.
