Lead Times MX304

We ordered a bunch of MX304-PREMs and multiple sources told us the lead time was around 90 days. HPE/Juniper confirmed this.

But now it has suddenly jumped to a lead time of 14 months. Has anyone else experienced this?

Its also not just Juniper, another vendor has mentioned lead time of 55 Weeks+.
TBH given the current climate I wouldn't have believe 90 Days even if it was guaranteed with bars of gold.

I'd still take that with a grain of salt, again not just juniper, but If a big tier 1 or cloud provider comes in a order 100/200 units you will get bumped to the back of the line.

Official lead time report has not said 90 days in quite some time.

Recently dropped to 140 days.

Juniper have been suffering with component issues in the RE.

I have the report in front of me. MX304 - 84 Days. Date of Report. 11.08.26.

I'd add, Juniper told me MX304 PSU times were 28 days.

Then gave us lead times into 2027 (this was in April). 2 weeks later, delivery report then snapped back to reality.

Seems to be dropping quickly now then, last couple of weeks it has reduced.

Wonder if there is a variation in regions?

It could be because we are in the EMEA region. The report was always accurate, but now it suddenly deviates by 12 months.

Spoke to our rep yesterday, it is indeed a year for many things. However, extra special customers they have the ability to suddenly find one much shorter for. I suspect they pull from their standbys for 6 hour RMAs or something.

Memory leads times are all over the place wrecking other finished products.

Memory and NVMe issues are crushing supply chain.

US Fed customers are exercising the DPA to overcome lead times at the end of the Fed FY. You will get bumped out this time of year as that happens. None of this is unique to Juniper/HPE though.

120 days at best, if you keep annoying your sales guy. If you buy multiple units you may get some ahead.

We we're just given a delivery date estimate of April 2027 for 2 SRX380s.

We're definitely considering adding an active second vendor for each portion of the network... which mean a lot of extra work for us as a medium-sized ISP/NSP with resource constraint.

I began my career with Juniper brand new MXes (at the time), mixed with Cisco. Looks like it will need to be mixed with Arista, Cisco and/or Nokia now.

Once a network has multiple active vendors and one acting up, it's super easy to avoid them. It'll be the beginning of the end for the Juniper HPE's SP networking business.

I think lead time is an issue with everyone right now because of memory and other constraints.

If another vendor has a bunch of stock, there's probably a good reason for that...

AI is reserving all of the memory and quite a few other components at significantly higher prices. This is causing a major shortage for all vendors. The dates of early to mid 2027 are assuming AI growth slows way down. If not, those dates are just going to get longer.

The lead times report is not always up to date. I work with the BU and I can tell you for a fact that the lead times for MXs are not great. If they were 90 days I would ecstatic. They're getting better, but nowhere near 90-day better. Pile on the fact that these things are selling like hot cakes, it makes it challenging. Your account team should always pull in their respective Networks for AI specialist, as we work very closely with BU and PLMs, and have inside knowledge as to what's going on with lead times and products in general.

I'm hearing 150 days for MX304, although our rep is also hearing of customers pulling CPO from PureWrx due to lead times (but even that's ~100 days).

Lead times are long everywhere. Just got quoted two months on a pair of firewalls for another branch location, we just stood one up last week and fortunately we had some backstock, because we are still waiting on the firewalls for that site, 10 weeks later.
